Im very impressed about The Bass of the boombox but i still prefere the go play speaking about Bass and sound quality !
Loudspeaker & more I prefer the Boombox.
It's just more fun to listen to although the Go+Play sounds more detailed.
But if you want that you might as well buy a Vifa.

Still pretty impressive but the Dockin dfine is a lot better. I have the Xtreme and Go+Play and i would take my Xtreme anywhere like to the beach or near the pool and the battery life is great.

Clearly, the HK is better, not for max volume, here the boombox win but the HK even in max volume is smoother, clearer.Really great video ^^

Expla / VFX Editor No because i have other speakers that dont distort even if i play them loud everyday. Jbl is not that good because i had 2 charge 3's that distort when i play them loud everyday.

The JBL is a party speaker with a BIG boom. The Harmon has a more refined and balanced sound to my ear. The winner depends on how you will be using the speaker.

lol HK sounds a lot better. I dont know how many people are gonna buy that boombox, but i think it's quite overpriced if you think about sound quality. Also less portable than HK
kotsios555 ...less portable. They are directed towards different audiences. You won't be able to make it far out the house without the go+play dying on you. It's also not waterproof, can't charge devices, isn't as loud. If anything it's meant to be taken much further than the go+play
Sure, the boombox has more advantages overall, however i still think it is overpriced and not very friendly towards average consumer compared to what the xtreme was.
You should be knowing that it's a boombox compared to that HI-FI sounding of the H/K. They are from the same company if you didn't know. His microphone is also slightly more bassy and not as clear as compared to the other channels (or maybe because of the size of the room that also boosts the bass) but I do like his videos tho.
kotsios555 AND let's not forget that the Harman Kardon was plugged in throughout the comparison.
The point is that HK just sounds better. You can't deny that, the boombox is what the name suggests, offers more boomy bass. Boombox is just too expensive, not suitable for average consumer because it focus too much for outdoors use, durability (waterproof, battery life) etc. The sound quality isn''t the main selling point.
One question, do you also get a weird humming noice when the speaker is at low volume?

David S probably not the jbl is 40w on battery and 60w full power where as the awia is 200w the awia will have more bass and will be louder but the jbl is abit more portable

IMO the HK sounds better. the boombox could use some EQing to make it flatter. That said, if I was going to take one of them to a drunken cottage party for a weekend I'd definitely take the JBL. It's just more rugged, can charge phones, can submerge in water, and is just a solid bassy party speaker.
The Connect + feature is not compatible with JBL Connect. Which makes all previous models useless if u purchase this.

Toni aiwa vs boombox would be a great Video :) but always remember : aiwa is more of a indoor refined speaker that can easily run a whole Party the boombox is maybe a bit more quiet and its more for a smaller beachparty :) (aiwa very low battery life much heavier and less easy to grab but it will sound much more refined that the boombox) everyone has to decide for himself what they like more :)

Carlos Guadiana probably not, you'd need a very strong one with 500-1000 watts as the Phantom power supply might need a lot for peaks

Could you check which of both goes deeper with bass? I listen to a ton of dnb and need the deepest bass possible. The previous jbl sound signature was a really disappointment in deep bass

speaker freaker I'd go for the Boombox personally.
If you want a rather balanced and relatively refined sound you should keep your Go+Play and if you want something for modern music and outdoors which packs a big punch go for the Boombox.

Thank you very much for this detailed review, your comparisons and also the tracks you chose were spot-on! I now got a very good impression of the JBL Boombox, and I definitely think the hype was justified! Although the price is a notch to high. Maybe in the near future, JBL will also sell refurbished Boomboxes on their site for a much lower price (they did this with all their speakers until now!!)

Cuz the Boombox is not intended for such small room even with acoustic sound barriers and even if it's set to indoor mode. Its more aggressive sound is for a wide open space like a pool party where all that bass will be balanced out.
You know, that punchy bass would be better for any parties. Not to mention that his mic is also sounds a little bassy.
Apis Ace my mics are totally linear so the JBL doesn't have more or less bass in real life than in this video.
The Boombox also sounds great indoors, there are just people who like the more elegant and detailed sound of the Go+Play.
"Totally linear" that's kind of a thing here. Different microphone brands can provide slightly different sound signatures just as like the speakers from different brands (even if they are from the same company). But as I've also replied to another guy somewhere around that maybe it has more to do with the room size and also agreed that the Go+Play is more "Hi-Fi" for the sounds. I'm thinking that a bigger room should be better for the Boombox since that amount of bass is quite overkill for that room size that you use to soundcheck the speakers. In this case, even if you use a damn good flat-response binaural microphone and acoustic sound barriers the sound will be bassy. Anyways people including me love these speakers and your videos. Cheers!

But good news i talked to the support because i asked uf theres coming an update for my charge 3, so that i could connect it with my boombox. They said that there is comung up one in time, but they couldnt say the exactly release date. I think then there is coming an update for the xtreme to.

Ich finde die Harman/Kardon besser...Das Preis / Leistungs Verhältnis ist bei der Harman/Kardon besser. Klar die Batterie ist schwach aber für eine etwas größere Batterie und einen minimal Druckfolleren bass bzw. Lautstärke würde ich nie den doppelten Preis zahlen. Auserdem kann ich die Karman/Kardon ohne Probleme in einen relativ kleinen Rucksack pachen. Bei der Boombox hätte ich Angst wegen den Passivmembranen. Und außerdem ist sie viel größer und globiger als die Karman/ Kardon... Das ist kein Hate aber ich wollte dies nur mal erwähnen... Ich selber habe die Harman/Kardon und finde sie echt gut!!! Ich hatte noch nie Probleme mit der Batterielaufzeit unterwegs. Und auch der Bass sowie die Lautstärke war unterwegs angemessen.
Um wie viel ist die Boombox ca. lauter als der Go+Play? Doppelt so laut?
