I was thinking that... the peanut butter is already cooked, and other foods use it to thicken stuff. I learned from Chinese people to loosen up the peanut butter (or sesame paste) with some hot water first. If you beat it a little it becomes like mayonnaise. Then it mixes in things easily. Anyway, this looks really tasty and not too complicated. Nice video!

I love congolese food. Some of the dishes are a little bit similar to our dishes in caneroon. Kwanga is just like bobolo which is how we call it in cameroon and we also eat it with vegetable sauce dishes , roast meat, fish etc. Its also made out of cassava. All these food are congolese it clearly the same recipe and have the same name 🤔 and bakongo none of these are actually Angolan and kizaca ( pondu ) is the same it just y’all gave different name same kuanga and ntaba ( picho) all these are Congolese that showed their recipe because all these food u masks lot Angolan was making fun of it and mas music mocking it now u claim it because Congolese eat lot pondu while normal Angolan don’t it because not all Angolan know it only the one luanda/bakongo
Synd E 。I am pretty sure you know that Congolese people and Angolan people are kinda the same, we have some of the same food even the some songs we also share. Every Angolan person knows about fumbua because we also eat it, you clamming an African dish is like you saying that fufu it's only Nigeria and the rest of Africa copied. We have the same food clearly because the bakongo people are not just in Congo but in Angola as well. They're in Luanda, Cabinda, Zaire, Uige. So it's not just Congolese food but Angolan as well.

From Trinidad & Tobag in the Caribbean. This dish looks like our Callaloo. Instead of using peanut butter to thicken we use okra. Taro leaves and stems are the greens. Seasonings are onions, garlic, hot pepper, maggi seasoning and coconut milk. We also use crab meat or salted pigtails in it. It is delicious and very much looks like this dish. Cooked same way. From Africa to the Caribbean our recipes survived.

Cassava leaves, right? They are big and tough. Most people here don't think they CAN be eaten! Locally people just eat the big delicious starchy and slightly poisonous roots. I think this is in the class with Kale, something that is edible but just barely. I grind them up in a big blender (as we have learned on RUclips) and then cook in a pressure cooker. I'm getting ready to try feeding the leaves through a juicer, the low speed kind with a sort of screw.... it's also a grinder/extruder... I'm wondering if it can just make the leaves into a kind of wet green paste, which might be closer to the way they would come out pounded in a mortar. Or it might make smoke come out of the juicer!
Thanks for your information. Here is an idea to keep the peanut butter from sticking against the pot. Use hot water and liquidise the peanut butter then pure it into the pot. Keep sharing. Blessing.
Hi Elle here a tip on how to make it not stuck on the pot ground: First of all Muamba is the reason why it gets stucked on the ground. So try to make the fumbua n all the ingredients cook on its own till the fumbua leaves soften. Then add muamba (peanutbuter) n make sure u are stirring a lot (medium to low heat helps too).

I have been self teaching myself to cook Congolese food as my husband of 1 year is Congolese and I haven't found too many channels with such good English. Can you tell me how you washed the fumbwa before you cooked it? The fumbwa at the market is dry and yours looked wet.
"ADVISE" do the same and just add the fumbwa leafs at the end (after you turn the fire off), put everything together, close the lid and let rest to room temp(about 3-7 min). the leafs stay green on the nice khaki-orange peanut sauce.

Haven't read the other comments but what if you pre mix/ whisk the palm oil and peanut butter together before hand. That seems like it would prevent the PB from getting stuck, as the palm oil is liquidy :)
Whisk the peanut butter into the 900mL of water before adding it to the pot. No clumps left to stick to the pot! You could use a blender as well.(I don't like doing dishes haha)
Hey girl. You have to put the peanut butter 30 to 45 min after ur mix. 🙏 Or u can boil the fumbwa by itself first. remove water then add all the ingredients like u did in the video. This way u should leave it for more than an hour.

Hey Jasmine, You don't have to add the dried fish, you can use a different type of fish if you like. You can cook fumbwa in one day, it only takes a couple of hours.

My favorite dish ever...actually we call it koko..i am from the Central african republic..so we make it almost the same way but a little bit different..Our koko (fumbua) is much thinner..which i like and we have many ways of making it..we have the YABANDA..that s when you make the koko very simple we call it in french "sauté" with dry fish and a lots of madame jeannette pepers..and you have to eat it very hot with fufu (Gôzô)...of chikwanga (cassava cooked in banana leaves) and also you can cook it with pens..and peanut butter, palm oil and so on..also nice ..of koko na yama (fumbua with bush meat), koko na makayabo (fumbua with that really salty fish), koko na sossongo ( fumbua with...I don t know the name of that thing in english) we have it only in my country...but to make a long story short..i choose that dish above any gyal...you can wake me up any time any our for that dish!!!

It's like whole spinach leaves. But only in Africa in the market they can come in whole or chopped very thin cause it has to be chopped very thin

I used frozen fumbwa, when using fresh/dry fumbwa try to boil it first for about an hour before adding everything else

hey elle, i have 2 questions. first one can i make fumbwa without the dried fish? second question do i have to make the fumbwa a day or two in advance? My dad was telling me it take some time to make so it's best to make ahead. I'm wondering
Hey Jasmine, You don't have to add the dried fish, you can use a different type of fish if you like. You can cook fumbwa in one day, it only takes a couple of hours.

My favorite dish ever...actually we call it koko..i am from the Central african republic..so we make it almost the same way but a little bit different..Our koko (fumbua) is much thinner..which i like and we have many ways of making it..we have the YABANDA..that s when you make the koko very simple we call it in french "sauté" with dry fish and a lots of madame jeannette pepers..and you have to eat it very hot with fufu (Gôzô)...of chikwanga (cassava cooked in banana leaves) and also you can cook it with pens..and peanut butter, palm oil and so on..also nice ..of koko na yama (fumbua with bush meat), koko na makayabo (fumbua with that really salty fish), koko na sossongo ( fumbua with...I don t know the name of that thing in english) we have it only in my country...but to make a long story short..i choose that dish above any gyal...you can wake me up any time any our for that dish!!!
