Totally doing this for one of our small Xmas trees, but with pics of our dogs we've had all our lives -- even the ones who've gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Great vid, thank you!
Thank you so much! This is the only one online that I have seen like this .I am going to make one to take to this lady that's like my grandmother. Her husband passed a couple of years ago then a couple of weeks before Christmas we found out she has a bone infection and will be in the hospital for at least six weeks ! I'm praying she'll be able to come home. She's loves Christmas so it's really hard! Her tree is up waiting for her !
So, I'm posting my experience trying to make these ornaments. The floor polish is no longer made but a version of it is out there. I decided to try polyvinyl varnish as it was mentioned in another video as a substitute. I found that you must immediately get the moist photo into position as the placement time is short. Also, it doesn't dry crystal clear so next time I'm going to try the new version of the floor polish(not cleaner/polish) and see if it's easier to place the photo and then have it dry "clear." Best of luck everyone.

When I first saw this video I knew that I wanted to try it. They looked awesome. Reading all the posts definitely helped get it right. I was surprised how nice mine turned out considering it was my first try. It got better after each one I did...practice makes perfect. I started with the flat clear plastic ornaments and I can tell you that those were definitely easier to work with than the round ball shape ones. Round is much more difficult to reach with a brush to smooth out the wrinkles. The other trick I read was about waiting until the floor polish dried a bit to get just tacky. I had no problems with the fine glitter adhering to inside evenly. Also stayed away from the darker glitter, as mentioned. I did try my first time with regular photo paper laser jet copies...paper much too stiff and would not soak up the polish. Switched to regular laser jet paper copies from Kinko. Perfect!!! Oh and luckily I did buy the correct polish. Thanks for posting such an awesome DYI video. Yours are beautiful. I hope to get it perfect one day.

I can't find that bottle that she shows in the video. All I find in stores is gloss. I used the Minwax Polycrylic and the glitter bled through. What weight is the paper you got your copies on? Thanks for sharing this idea with us. I made a few, turned out well. Just went back to the finished ornaments today, the photos are dislodging from the the side of the ornament. Any suggestions? I used Mop N Glow, which I have used other times to do just glitter ornaments.
Are you using photo paper or regular paper? It need to be regular paper. Mop and Glow is a floor cleaner, so it won't work like a polish. If you can't find polish, try water based polyurethane.
+Kelly O'Donnell Mine, too! I went in with the paint brush and did the best I could to wipe the glitter off the back of the photo, but she obviously didn't do this step in the video, so I am wondering if she uses photo paper? or a thicker paper?
Hack: if you put a light coat of spray clear paint on your printed pictures, then let dry, spray heavy coat, the ink foes not bleed and it worked just like ink jet.
I did lots of these last year and I used Pledge Floor Care. They looked great but the pictures started falling off inside. Did anyone else have this issue and is there a fix for it?
Suggestion ... Let the photo dry before you put glitter in. Just add more of the floor wax empty excess and then add the glitter. This way if there are air bubble around the edges the glitter will not seep under.
Ada Perez What kind of paper did you use? Did your floor glass have a little bit of milky color to it? Also did you notice the colors from the picture bleeding out?
Clutter bug if you could help with our red glitter issue we would appreciate it. Any colour running issues really. Do you use a specific glitter or do something to prevent running of the colour?
I was just wondering if you would have time to put a photo on the other side so you would have a pic on both sides or if the polish would dry to quickly or if pouring polish back in after you finish with the first one would be a bad idea. Might just have to try it and see what happens. Great idea for simple gifts.
Thanks for the reply. I haven't tried doing both sides yet but did my first single side and it came out pretty good. I did get some creases even after cutting some slits in the sides but not on anyone's face :). I think this result is much better than just putting a photo inside the balls that you can open. Thanks for the great idea!

@@mkc6753 hello did you ever figure out what kind of paper she used
Hack: if you put a light coat of spray clear paint on your printed pictures, then let dry, spray heavy coat, the ink foes not bleed and it worked just like ink jet.
Thanks! I’m going to try this today!
I did lots of these last year and I used Pledge Floor Care. They looked great but the pictures started falling off inside. Did anyone else have this issue and is there a fix for it?
exact thing happened to me, I made 5 a couple of weeks ago, and 3 of the pictures are already totally off. I'm hoping someone else has the fix. :(
I just read she uses the lowest weight of card stock, I'm going to try that.
I made several of these and they looked fantastic until the pictures started falling in. I used a color laser print. Looking for a fix as well.
U have to use mod podge there’s no alternative
Trying to figure out what the ornaments are called Oval? I know they'r[e not round or the ones that come apart, loved the video thank you
Two words: Tripod. Naptime. Otherwise, super nice video.
Alchemist Persians wow you're rude
We found the person who doesn't have kids!
He wasn't being loud, I didn't even hear him until she pointed it out. You must not have kids
I’m very inspired! These turned out sooo pretty and easy to make. Thank you for sharing and caring. Here’s to happy crafting…Enjoy your holidays 🙏🏽😊❤
Girl.... you need a tripod ;)
and a sedative for that brat !!!
This is awesome! Could you tell me how you placed your order with staples? The pictures.. what size the pictures should be? Thank you so much!
I love this so much! I need to cover my tree with nothing but ornaments of my kids as they have grown up...think they'd love it!...lol
I actually liked the way it looked with the red in there.
I can't wait to surprise my sister with one of these. Once question, I purchased BONA Hardwood Floor Polish. Will this work?
Loved the video. Just trying to make one, and wondering what kind of paper should I have used, because it's taking forever to get transparent
i finally made 3 of them . Everything stayed in place. thank you for sharing your video.
Hello, could you tell me what paper you used
I actually love the Red mixed in and might do a few mixed lol
Suggestion ... Let the photo dry before you put glitter in. Just add more of the floor wax empty excess and then add the glitter. This way if there are air bubble around the edges the glitter will not seep under.
i made these for my friends last Christmas after I watched this video, they absolutely loved them. Thanks for the video
Ada Perez What kind of paper did you use? Did your floor glass have a little bit of milky color to it? Also did you notice the colors from the picture bleeding out?
your ornaments look beautiful. question how long befor you add the glitter after you place picture in?
Clutter bug if you could help with our red glitter issue we would appreciate it. Any colour running issues really. Do you use a specific glitter or do something to prevent running of the colour?
I'm so doing this with my boyfriend for Christmas. he's gonna love them and then he can take some home with him to berlin 😊
I was just wondering if you would have time to put a photo on the other side so you would have a pic on both sides or if the polish would dry to quickly or if pouring polish back in after you finish with the first one would be a bad idea. Might just have to try it and see what happens. Great idea for simple gifts.
I think you would have time! You could always add a bit more polish too, it shouldn't shift the one picture you have already secured!
Thanks for the reply. I haven't tried doing both sides yet but did my first single side and it came out pretty good. I did get some creases even after cutting some slits in the sides but not on anyone's face :). I think this result is much better than just putting a photo inside the balls that you can open. Thanks for the great idea!
I love these I just had my first grandson!! Cant wait to make one!!!!
Congratulations 💞
What kind of glitter do you use
Perfect Christmas gift for my parents of the grandkids. Thank you for this beautiful idea
breath of fresh air, good, informative, fun and REAL tutorial xx
Is this on regular paper or what kind of paper are the photos printed on?
I loved the black with the red glitter in it.
:)
Love this wow 8 days before Christmas and im headed out now to work on this project
My phot does not adhere to the Christmas ball. I bought the ones you recommended. The balls are concave. Is that the problem?
Absolutely beautiful - not sure if we have clear balls over her in the UK but will think of something xxx Mo :)
I love these pictures and I am love the idea that you can have them forever. .
I LOVE THESE! I also wish I had seen this before I attempted to make the hand print snow man ornaments this year. ( It took me 5 stores to find plain colored ornaments.)
