I was feeling his melancholic vibe and suddenly “And so I bought a new macro lens” - Hahahah.
I'm in a hospital bed and when he said that, the nurse's station heard me laugh out loud.
Great video. Bringing the old and tired back to a new and vibrant life. I think it's great!
Your video is both entertaining and therapeutic. It is inspiring to watch your patience in action and your commitment to work (and rework) as needed to get the desired result. And though an accountant will never admit it, they know that a good business needs to invest in itself on a regular basis!
Thanks Chris for your kind and wise words. It’s a good point to put forward to my accountant
One of the coolest voices and personality on RUclips. Thank you for another great video, good sir. Be well 🙏🏽
Thanks mate, my best wishes to you too
I think you made the correct decision refurbishing the dial and case.
I remember wanting this watch so much in '92-'94. Couldn't justify the price for a quartz at that age, when Seiko and Swiss Army had some really nice pieces at 1/4 of the price.
It was not a good idea to restore this watch it was a Fantastic idea. It looks Magnificent.
Great Work Sir
I’m an 80’s teenager and these TAG’s were more popular in Los Angeles, California than Rolexes for a long time. It WAS the watch to have along with your 325i BMR and Depeche Mode playing on KROQ.
I love TAG’s and you my friend brought back many memories with your restoration. Enjoy the Silence!!!
In Europe TAG Heur were the top fashion watch brand because F1 Ayrton Senna they were as expensive as Rolex 😳 plus out of stock always need wait for it and Rolex stand out for sale which I bought one but even I did I had a visit one day all my nice watches gone 😠 stop buying expensive watches and start it again now TAG aren’t so nice but they still have some nice watches arriving wish could get those who have gone !
Fantastic restoration, polished but not over restored proper job well done
I enjoy watching all you do to the watches including the polishing. It is not boring it is relaxing and educational.
your vids are like meditation to me.
ty for your effort and friendly greets to all earthlings, too.
Thanks Sebastian
Absolutely an amazing job!
I think you did it justice, not every watch should be in the original 'as factory, as worn' condition. Some watches deserve to be 'reborn', and live life again. Really nicely done refurbishment.
Brilliant video! Loved every moment of it. Hope you healed well, take care and keep up the great work!
Fantastic luming and restoration.hope your injury has healed by now.love your humourous commentary.... from an earthling from India
Thanks mate. Yes finger has healed now thanks
I watch your channel for the soothing way you speak and enjoy the repairs that you make on some quite questionable watches. Thank you for the time, patience and love you pour into your craft and us as you share with us the accountant, your family and your craft.
Thank you Jim
I am 100% not in the battle scars camp. Im a car guy and when it comes to "vintage" cars Im "restomod" all the way. I think old things are cool but old to me doesnt mean that it's in a state of disrepair. I like the style of old things but I want them to work the way they did when they were brand new. If that can be improved (like putting a new engine in an old car, giving it more power while being loads more efficient with a fraction of the problems) then I'm all for that kind of improvement.
Loved the macro shots by the way! Let me know when it's time to get yelled at, haha!
Thanks. Yes agree, some things need refreshing so they can be used and enjoyed practically. While other things are best left as they are if you intend to just stare at it every now and again
I love watches and am glad there are people like you who take care of the old and damaged. Great video.
Fascinating, you did a beautiful job on the restoration. Glad your hand has recovered and I hope your ears recovered too, from the buffeting the accountant gave them when she found out about the new lens.
From the viewer's point of view, the pain was worth it, as the close-ups are wonderful. 😂
Take care of yourself and family, stay safe.
God bless.
Thank you Steven. I showed her all the support and messages from you guys so my ears are ok. Greetings to you and your family, stay safe
Luv your sense of humor! You are a master watch maker hat off!
I have used “color fill” techniques when coloring in etchings on AR15s I have built over the years. It’s actually a lot of fun to come up with different color combos, I made a “zombie” gun a few years back. Lots of green, wish I had some of the lume you have used here
That lume is great stuff.. look on-line..
I have that watch but '93 version. Quick story, I was in a Jewellers on Isle of Wight and when they replaced the battery stole parts and replaced with cheap parts, for years I thought the 'refurbish' looked terrible. I now have it fully restored.
Quit worrying about the accountant my friend. That is why you were blessed to have a couch! Love your videos. It has inspired me to try my first restoration (on an old Timex). Hey, you have to start somewhere.
Nothing wrong with Timex's good old watch's I have 3 still ticking away merely.
"fiscal disobedience' I'll buy that one from you!
Nice restauración I hope to see you soon for more videos 📹 your job is great 👍 be safe God bless you and all the best for your family 👪
I got sent here from a Beyond the press video where they were pressure testing dive watches...well mostly crushing them in a pressure chamber.
This is fantastic content and I’m now subscribed. Always a treat to watch a craftsman at work.
You're the Bob Ross of Watches. Excellent work and attention to detail
I have really enjoyed a number of your posts. Trouble popping in from time to time reminds me of my boys - now men when they would come to my home office.
Your craft skills are amazing. Sorry to hear of you injury hope things are better.
John P Hicks
Thanks John for your kind words and lovely story about your boys
Love watching your videos Joe! My absolute favourite when it comes to watch restoration and repair!
I am torn.
I truly admire your skills accompanied by great humility.
If it had been a less important watch, I would have had no doubts, I would have wanted it restored like this.
But I don't know if I would have wanted such an invasive intervention on a fine watch like this.
Respect you in any case.
Wonderful as always. Zen and the art of watchmaking.
I think it was the best idea to restore it like you did. As you said, not that collectible yet so why not make it pretty again. Nice work.
I love your attention to detail, and your sense of humour!
Beautiful work! I would love to own a watch like that Tag Heuer but I am now partial to mechanical wind-up or automatic watches.
I just went to the Tag Heuer website to look at their watches. I was quite disappointed when looking at their current selection. The watch you restored looks way more interesting than their modern offering.
Old tags ,mechanical or non are so better looking
Originally they were just Heuer and got bought out by TAG during the quartz crisis. I have heard that Heuer was far better than TAG Heuer is now.
You are hilarious! Glad I found your channel. I marvel at your patience in these tasks. I'd have pulled out what little is left of my hair in the first five minutes, for dainty digits I do not possess!
The hands that make the gieger counter go burrr still work great. I've heard it's good to scrape the luminousness and form into a paste with the best applicator is a fine point brush using saliva to get the sharpest point
Fantastic! Absolutely love these 1990s Tag Heuers, so it's great to see one receiving the treatment it deserves. Superb video, as always. 🙂
Thanks mate
Another beautiful restoration. You are very skilled in my opinion.
Thanks Kevin
All the Years of watching RUclips channels on and off. Your channel is probably one of the most amazing entertainment and informational shows around! thank you for making the education of watch engineering and design so entertaining. This makes looking at watches at a whole different level.
Thanks mate
Hands down (pun intended) your watch resto videos are the absolute best . No -one else comes close . Your accountant and fantastic trouble are great too ..Some one has to keep you grounded . Thank you for including the lume tutorial . I have a very old ( mid 1970's) Felicia (Australian made) automatic watch that still functions really well but with the lume pretty sad and you've given me the confidence to have a go fixing it . I did fit a new crystal and gave the case a polish with a Dremel and it came up a bit better . Now to do the hands and incabloc strips .. Love your funny bits too... It's awesome viewing ..
Thanks mate good luck with the lume work. Take it nice and slow
I had this exact watch in my early 20’s back in 90’s they were my favourite watch especially it was a gift from my dad. Sometime in early 2000’s it was stolen from me..😭
Nice to see some ducks once in a while.
The TAG looks fantastic again, well done. The video, music, and your skill as a watch repairer is superb. Many thanks
I missed Troubles little voice! Glad you’re all back!!
I came here for the expert watch repair and restoration vids but stayed for the comedic narrative! I would not dare to call my wife the accountant to her face!
I remember selling these back in the day, thank you for the great video and memories.
Very nice restoration. Thanks for the commentary as well.
Thank you 🙏
Looks great, you did the best thing, another 30 years use ahead, well done and keep the uploads coming👍

I’m sorry I did not know of your injury. I used my hands for 42 years. I had a few deep cuts along the way but nothing serious. Love and peace.
Thanks Larry
Glossary for non UK viewers Trouble=Trouble and Strife rhyming slang for Wife 😁
or accountant 🤣
Dude. You are comic gold and the man when it comes to watches. My new fav RUclipsr.
You did a great job on this one. The finish looks pretty decent and it's not far from the factory.
Beautiful work, mate. I love the re-lum and re-paint.The watch looks mint!
Thanks Alexander
How can I contact you for servicing a few of my watches?
Ps love the content.
Very skilled and talented craftsman I wish I still lived in the UK I have a watch my mum and dad bought me I had it fixed in the 80s buy a company in Liverpool and it did not turn out to good I am 60 and the watch was bought for me when I was 18
Lots of love and appreciation from India. I love your videos. Please let me know if any of your restored collection is on sale. It's good collection to preserve the work of watch industry gems like you
Aditya Barnabas thanks mate
Superb workmanship, watching your video will be pleasure for me
A tipsy-turvy World. That actually might be Better than the one we're living in!
I missed Trouble throughout... I really luv the new lume job on the watch... An the hum,hum red an green turned out better than expected.. I teach ceramics I'm the face lady... Lol!! Or the no Faces today lady.. some wud say!! Try tooth picks the bamboo ones can be split to a fine piece of hair...or like a dog's whisker or cats works a treat..!! I did like the tools you had worked quite well...looked great.. I so enjoyed the end piece ... Especially the wee arrow at the 12:00 point .. Oh and if course the wee voice of a lil Trouble!! Thanks for sharing your lives with us!! ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Thank you ☺️
It was the theme from Romeo & Juliet by Mancini that sold it for me. Nice pull, and great resto!
Thanks mate
Yes...tin hats and soldiers can really cut in to the wallet. 😊
This watch is a stunner!!
As an everyday grocery getter I think it’s great. I know it’s just preference but that bezel dates the watch to the 90s. I would have considered modding the bezel. Maybe deleting the raise indices. As always great work
Amazing. A quartz watch where the second hand hits the minute marks.
About that. I have a AU$10 one that hits the mark EVERY time whereas my AU$125 one flops all over the place like something dying.
Get well soon!!
Thank you Joe! Loved this and it is beautiful.. Love the renewed lume!
Frank in Colorado
Glad you enjoyed it Frank
Always a perfect job!
Excellent! And proud I got to hear from "Trouble!"
Another fantastic job done well done👍
I think it looks beautiful
Another great video all round.
💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻🏴
Great restoration.😎👍
Wow you bring back to life the lifeless i have a watch that belonged to my father it is a RADO gold watch but its not working the crown comes off when i try to set the time well inreally enjoyed your video thanks for sharing
You are AMAZING and Extremely Talented !
Another great job. Totally worth doing.
@Nekkid Watchmaker
Thank you for such a wonderful video, it made me pull the trigger of buying a Tag Heuer professional 2000. Tag Heuer from this era reminds me of Ayreton Senna and Sabine Schmitz… They both wore them. (now I bought a S/el too… lol)
Thanks mate. I didn’t realise that Sabine had passed away. 😔
@@NekkidWatchmaker I can never forget her smile… I'm sure her soul is in the peaceful place that she deserves.
As I plow through your videos I am struck by how thoughtful and thorough you are. I knew you were going to redo the dial lume. The first effort just wasn't up to your usual top bar.
Beautiful. Absolutely wonderful. Thanx for sharing.
Love you man. Make me smile . Keep it up🤗
New lume, make over looks great!
I just love the commentary and your voice and yes I will protake in the guilt of buying obeying a Canon lens
Lol thanks Steven
A masterclass. Thank you.
Great Restoration 😍😍😍
Great job on the lum color boss
Very interesting and nice job. I always liked that model.
Amazing job my friend
Another razzle and dazzle restoration lol excellent job
I had the same watch as a kid, a friend of my parents gave it to me. Of course it was fake, and it was way too big, but I was very proud of it. Maybe I'll get a real one now.
I love the audio track. Great!
Nice one, the accountant should be proud! ☺
This was an awesome video! I like how the hands are just a little bit brighter to differentiate them from the hour markers and the ones on the outer dial. I really wish I had someone like you that I could take my vintage watch to look at. It's a vintage SEIKO G757-4050 - very similar (but just *_slightly_* different) to what most now know as the "Venom/Punished Snake watch" from the _'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain'_ video game and James Bond's watch in _'Octopussy'..._
Another way to fill in the color is to use a syringe with an appropriate sized blunt tip for the areas you’re trying to fill in.
Looks so much better
I just listen to him, not even watching.
Bravo. Bravo. Bravo. Bravo. Bravo. Bravo. Bravo.
Buffed out quite well again 🤪.
Good Job 👍🏽
Wouldn’t expect anything less from you
But perfection 😎
All good machines should be used for their designed purpose .Some one should apricate it , and wear it proudly often and then hand it down .
PS I happen to have this watch and I happen to have it in its original case and it's in my closet right now and it still works
