Thanks for the review. I have to give another skip on this. Long term fans of ASICS, specifically GT series. Past 5years update in asics lineup has not been working for me fitting and their questionable design like the heel flare and minimalist tounge on a daily shoes. I noticed it after they open the HQ in Boston 2018, can't be coincidence.
Thanks for the review Ryan! Really love the direction ASICS is going in here. Have had the Kayano 28 and 29 and while they were comfortable the foam just felt dead. The Kayano 30s are my current favourite (I also run in the Brooks Glycerin GTS 20 and Hoka Arahi 6) and am interested to check out the GT 2000 -12 for what i hope is a similar but lighter feeling shoe.
I had the Kayano 28 then the 29 and gt2000 11, but this year I steered away from the Kayano 30. I will probably do the same for my gt series. The direction that Asics is going is just not working for me.
They’e starting to look like generic boring modern shoe with nothing but a slab of white rubber underneath…. Like the Hoka and Nike ugly garbage design made for clowns
NNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!I For years I have loved how ASICS felt on my feet, until they started messing with the stability tech. The posts never bothered me, but the new stuff seems to just push my feet in weird ways, like to the outside. The GT2000s were the last with the old tech, and I loved them. Goodbye ASICS. The way you used to do stability really worked better for some people. It would have been nice if you kept one model around for them. Not every model has to be the same.
@@His0wnFootit's way too hard to find a good pair now days for that regular shoe. I am using brooks Ghost the durability is trash but the shoe itself is great
Agreed - no post? No thanks. I have a stash of Trabuco 10 and some older NB with medial posts - I'd love try some newer tech, but not if they don't offer actual support. This 3D stuff is pure vapourware.
I TOTALLY agree, @johnharris1734. I wore ASICS GT-2xxx shoes for at least 20 years and was devastated when I bought these. The old 2000s were incredibly stable and the design was consistent year after year after year. But now they totally screwed them up - wide and spongy. I even wrote to them a year ago, praising their consistent product. What a slap in the face!
In my area, neither are available to try in store. It's very difficult to make a decision without trying the shoes. I have plantar fasciitis and plantar fibromas. Finding shoes that I can wear on concrete all day is nearly impossible. I'm hoping the kayano 30 is a good choice. If so, I'll be buying many pairs in different colors.
I went in for the 12 as someone who's never owned a pair of asics. I needed a 14, they only had that in the V11. Im getting them for a stable/neutral walking shoe for work (as a nurse. I was so happy with how they felt walking around I completely forgot about the V12 id come in there for. I went in the store for a pair if arahi 6 as the new 7 rub the arch of my right foot too much. Got their last pair of those and liked the gt 2000 V11 so much, and at 42 bucks off, ended up leaving with those as well. Lol
Im not a shoes person (live in the Caribbean and wear mostly slippers). Now I've started to walk and with my flat foot, I'm trying to find a pain free comfi shoes. I'm so stressed. So many options etc
Thanks Ryan for the review. I think the new heel collar might be better compared to last year's when using the shoe without socks. I'm looking forward to 12 as I assume it is a lighter version of Kayano 30 and upgraded version of Kayano Lite 3. If you have time, can you please comment on the midfoot volume compared to 11 and Kayano 30?
Although I research what shoes may be best for me, when it comes down to it, nobody is thinking about how thick a tongue is, what kind of mesh is on the shoe or what kind of laces are on your shoes when you are running excruciating miles in 100 degree heat hating every minute of it. It's about what your feet and joints feel like when you are finished.
Got the kayano 30 the worst shoe I had was uncomfortable over time had the 29 and that is yet to happen with that one as I still have it. and got a hole in it 3 months in. Tying the gt 1000 12 now just got today
I now have the 11 and need the stability due to some bad ankles due to previous injuries. Is the 12 as stable as the 11, the new specs sound a bit more flexible, so I'm a bit in doubt.
If they've screwed these up, I'll need to find another new brand of shoe. I was a New Balance guy for many years, then they changed the back of the heel to something like this one. My heel would constantly slip. So I found Asics and the GT-2000. Ugh.
Bought the Kanano 30 for walking in the Walk of the World in Nijmegen Holland this July. I tried the Nimbus 26 but found them not as stable. I will but something else as well because the second day is stairs, fields and much more off road. Not sure what will be best for my feet for that.
Hi so should i buy Asics 2000 11.?its better than 12.i do need a stability shoe.i have pronation ,very heavy.,11,one leg,13, other leg..former Marathon runner.1990..im 60,walk Dogs all day, for hours. What show,2000,11??.Rick Thank you
Which of the Asics would be best for a 400 lb man who just wants a comfortable shoe to walk in but which is also safe (not so squishy that they crush under load when changing directions). I had the gel venture 8. Loved them for my first pair of Asics. Bought twice. But want something different and maybe higher quality. The venture was stable and didn't crush. I'd love some more softness and comfort so long as they are safe.
@@ihussain1011 I ordered a pair of nimbus 25 and a pair of gt 2000 11 yesterday. Both extra wide. Gonna try them out and see which, if either, are worth keeping. I am thinking the gt will work. The nimbus look pretty squishy so will probably be too soft. We shall see soon. I'll let you know once they come in. Ps. I ordered a contend 8. They were a half size too big but the amplifoam was able to handle my weight so that was encouraging.
I'm literally deciding between both right now. Bought both and having a hard time deciding. Honestly I'm going to store to try out the GT 2000 12s in a bit to see if they feel any better. Only thing is i got both the kayano 30 and the gt 2000 11s for 90bucks and i think the gt 2000 12s are like 125
Yeah the gt 2000 11 is on sale right now for 90 bucks. I tried out gt 2000 12 today in the local store and they felt cushioned and Nice. I had size 44 in my kayano 28 but had to go up one size in gt 2000 12 to get enough room in the toebox. Does gt 11 and gt 12 have the same fit in the toebox? Im figuring gt 11 might give better stability. What is your take on it?
@@andyn6053 honestly i didn't find the 2000 12s yesterday. Right now I'm leaning more towards the gt 2000 11 than the kayano 30s i have. There's something wrong with the foot insert in the right shoe that's sticking into my arch. The left side isn't.
I see. Sometimes shoes have some rough stitches that can be really annoying and even hurt. Seems u got a monday copy. The kayano 30 are probably very cushioned but they look like bricks and are quite heavy for being running shoes. Im sure the new kayano 31 feels like heaven walking in. But If gt 11 has enough stability, it might be a good alternative for faster runs
Asics 2000 12 have moved away from people with flat feet/overpronation and is now a neutral shoe. This shoe is not good for people with really flat feet like me. Goodbye Asics, I'll miss your GT 2000 10
I bought GT 2000 12 and it felt sooo bouncy yet stable. Easy pick up the pace. My current favorite stability shoe
Agree and almost no break in time for me ditched the kayanos for those
Better than the 11s?
Got these recently and they work really well. Crunching miles without any issues :)

12 is more closer to 11.
I can't figure out how it's providing pronation control without a medial post or some form of medial support?
There is more foam on the medial side than the lateral side making compression asymmetrical
