- The Worst Painting I Have EVER Done ~ Galaxy Open Cup Pour / Acrylic Pouring / Fluid Art
Inspiration for this pour goes out the Mina Villegas and Dirty Artist for their open cup pours!
I had such high hopes for this painting. I did NOT like the outcome LOL. But you have to enjoy your mistakes too! This one made me laugh so much at what I thought it would come out like vs. what it did. Sometimes what is in our heads does not translate to the canvas. I had way too much paint, the spinning didnt work. But its ok, because i had fun making it. I hope you can laugh along with me. Also Check out the LOLI VEFE Mat!
Canvas is a 20x20

I am so happy that I found acrylic pouring/fluid art a few years ago. It has helped me in so many ways and it just keeps getting better and better. This visual arts creative outlet has made me so happy. I am loving this abstract art! I hope to keep doing this for years to come! I have always been fascinated by modern and contemporary art. There is something about it that is so freeing and expressive. I love acrylic pouring because I get to experiment and really join the creative side of my brain with the scientific part! There are so many different fluid acrylic pouring techniques out there, so much more to try and have fun with. Make sure you are subscribed to my channel so that you may learn and be creative with me. I love hearing all of your comments. Sometimes it doesn't go as planned! I am glad I am able to laugh at myself. The piece was still fun to make and I always learn from my mistakes! Kudos to all that can make the open cup work!
MOLLY'S ARTISTRY mine never turn out good either so don’t feel bad.
Michele Yates mine either Michele. Lol
MOLLY'S ARTISTRY Hey Molly ! I love your work & have learned a lot from you. I am new to the acrylic pouring world & I was just wondering what you did to prevent hairs and particles drying in with your painting ?? I’m feeling alil discouraged atm because it seems as tho every painting I do drys with a bunch of fuz and hair. Interested in hearing how you prevent this from happening to your paintings.
@@vickyrebelo7014 hi vicky! I don't normally have that problem, I work in a garage, but the are not many particles. I should get a picnic next off amazon or a supply sore or do you're work in storage boxes and cover south a lid (and leave it cracked) for airflow. I would prep your space first as well and try to have a hair free space to start. I can sympathize, I own a cat lol.
Tweezers. Also I taped up drop cloth around my shelf. And laid down and taped drop cloth on each shelf. You can get drop cloth at michaels
I don't think it's ugly at all! I love how it looks like the eye of a hurricane.
Amy B I saw the same thing!! I like the way it looks.
I love it! Which makes me wonder about my taste in art...
pupster0704 my thoughts exactly
I’m glad you think it’s funny. But, I really like it! On camera it doesn’t look muddy. It looks like a galaxy!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder -- I would have been thrilled if mine was that cool!
I think its beautiful ❤
I’ve seen paintings like this where the artist was very happy with the result so I’m sure some of your viewers love it. It’s just not why you like and you’re the one you need to please. I applaud you for giving it a spin (pardon the pun!)
just so you know, i have watched hundreds of "pour" videos, its relaxing to me. but this is the only one i have saved to my "sooooooooooo great" playlist. that is how much i love it. i WISH i was able to make something so beautiful and sublime. It is absolutely NOT the worst of anything in anyway.
My dad says it looks like a hurricane. I have to agree with him. Pretty awesome painting if you ask me. But what do I know...except that people can call anything art, and different people have different styles. Keep the experiments coming!!! Love it!
Well...if this is the "WORST" ya have ever done...idk...I really 💜 it! The colors all go good together, the mudding of the colors looks neat, still see cells, it has some smokey effect. Does look like a galaxy. Molly - I think ya should keep this one and put it up on the auction! 💜💜💜
As they say…”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. I love this.
Thank you for sharing Molly. You are always so open and honest. I'm sorry it didn't go as you'd hoped. Love your chuckle, and how you use it happily. Love watching you explore your talents, and sharing what you do, so readily... thanks again.
I like it because I always enjoy fluorescent colors on a black background 💙
I really like it. It looks like a water puddle splash to me! The fun part of rainy days.
Every time I watch an acrylic pour video I am so sad how much paint becomes a waste! That’s a great idea!
Oh I love it. My favorite colors just floating and blending.
I loved the start of it made me think of a deep sea with beautiful jellyfish
So glad to know I'm not alone when a painting goes wrong. 👍🏻❤️😂
Hi Molly! I can absolutely sympathize!! I tried 4 or 5 times to not tilt.. I failed the first few times in that I had to tilt it. The last try was the most successful in not tilting but was my least favorite painting ever and quite possibly the ugliest one I have ever done. I was so happy to repour on that canvas! 😂Your idea of spinning it was a good one, maybe it would have worked better with less paint.. (I know that it's hard to not put a lot on there, it starts looking so cool when the cells come up).. the beginning of yours was really beautiful with the black basecoat and the blue cells just starting!
The conclusion of my experiment was that these NEED to be tilted and opened up to show all the cool bits inside.. when it stays together like this it just all smooshes together and looks bad. Pour it, take the pretty pictures, then tilt it 😁
Thank you for the mention, I appreciate it ❤
(my last name is Villegas, pronounced vil-ay-gas 😉)
Remember that art is never good or wrong 💗 the process and having fun is what matters!
I’m happy you can laugh at yourself, positively a great character trait. I thank you again for your experimentation adventures bc now we know what NOT to do & that is as valuable as knowing what to do. You’re precious Molly❣️❣️❣️
thank you so much diane!
I just love how you can laugh at your own creation....so adorable 🤗
Pour art is hard to control, sometimes mishaps can create some of the most unique pieces , its beautiful
I think it’s pretty cool! I could see this in a million dollar home or a child’s room.
Easy to look at.
Molly! My husband's taste is not the same as mine!!! He says that will all of the good souls out there, someone may like that painting! I am new and I am learning! As an artist, you have a higher class of standards. But for those of us who are learning... LOL!!! I like it!!! It shows what can be done with paints!!! As I learn the open cup pour, I tilt!!! RADacrylics works with spinning canvases. He has developed Ideas for spinning! I believe we should contact him and see what ideas he may have! He is very busy with his real job, at this time. This is a wonderful community. And as he says, "We are always learning!" By the way, you video on your failed pours remains one of the very funniest, and most interesting I had watched! Very best to you and yours. Thank you for this video!!! Blessings and Re Jouir -Darlene :) :) :)
dar you are always like a shining light for me ! I agree that many see beauty in things that i may not. Maybe i should listen to my own advice and not be so critical LOL. Yes he is definitely a great artist and utilizes the spinner well!
@@MOLLYSARTISTRY Thank you, Molly! You are always so kind! I really would like to see a way of not tilting an open cup pour! LOL Pour Rafael...I asked him!!! To often I become that aunt that the rest of the family cringes over!!! I am glad you posted your video! You gave us something to talk about! And the comments are very interesting! Take care and thank you again!!! -Darlene
I really like it Molly! I think it's cool. It looks cosmic.
Intresting technique ! 😎🙏🏻💕🤘So beautiful! Inspiring !!! 😎🙏🏻💕🤘💕🙏🏻✅ Thx for sharing! Keep Creating :D
Lol! You're so funny! It is interesting for sure! Lol!
Thanks for showing what you think is ugly. Omg. You laughing at it was great!
We are our own worst critic always, however, I think it's BEAUTIFUL! Love the colors!
Its not ugly I like all the colors and it looks like a storm.
Thanks for explaining about the "skins," and magnets. Thanks for telling me more about the silicone mat. I am going to get one, when I can. This is amazing, fun pour. I love it! Thanks again. Liz in California 👩🎨💖🍀🦓🇺🇸
Have a blessed day.
You are a creative artist, every time you bring in another method.i like the laughter after finishing the work and thanks for sharing 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I dont get whats wrong with it. Looks fantastic to me!
Thanks Molly for posting the process and painting. It's real, it happens, sometimes the painting is less than great. Usually we only see the successes, we rarely see that failure exists as well.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Your colors are beautiful!
I am new to acrylic pour painting & I think it looks great. I do these with my granddaughters & they love the creativity of it. Sometimes they love the results & sometimes they want to redo them. Glad to know it happens to more experienced artists too! :) I tell them that everyone's eye sees something different & that is okay. Bless you for sharing, we love watching your videos. You are inspiring a couple of generations here at my house.
thank you so much! that means so much! I am glad that you are able to enjoy art with others in your family!
Every ones taste is different....I'm just starting this whole process and there is always some one who loves it.
I love your latest creation💜💜💜
It may not be your style or what you envisioned, but I don't think most people would find it ugly. I definitely see some beauty in it.
Haha😁 Love your critique! Like your color combo & cells in the corners.
I loved the cells that pop out from under the cup as you pour into it. I think open cup pours work best when tilted slowly and not spun so vigorously which breaks the cells down. Course I haven't mastered it either, just an observation from watching others. Lol. I loved the colors though. I greatly appreciate you posting what you consider a fail cause it sure does help us all learn. Cheers
I love it! This is exactly the look I want to create; I think of it as highly pigmented marble 😊
I bought a mat. Thx for showing why I need it. Love your work. This was great colors. 🥰
Thank you rebecca! Let me know what you think when you get it!
That's your Hurricane !! 😎♥️
Molly I really don’t think it’s ugly! I love the way it looks like a storm developing. The cells, the lacing, looks great.
This isn't bad!!! It's awesome it looks like a very close up shot of the effect a drop of water gives when dripping and the rippling splashing edges , plus the colors give the reflective effect like water has.. it's amazing.
I think this is fabulous. I agree that it looks like a hurricane. Well done Molly 🙋🏼❤️
Your laugh is infectious 😊 I love watching your videos while I mix my paints. I find myself laughing when you’re laughing 😆 It’s nice to know that even pros like yourself can sometimes get it wrong too 😊
I would love to see you make these magnets. Great Teacher gifts! 😘😍
my next set i will try to make a video!
MOLLY'S ARTISTRY thank you so much!
Thank you for putting out there your fails. We all have them. Spinning not my thing. I’ve not seen a spinned out painting that I like. It’s interesting looking. 🤷♀️😂
Love the video it inspired that I wanna be an artist a galaxy artist
I think that's absolutely gorgeous💕💕💕
I love it. It looks like you dropped a golf ball into a large dirty cup and it splattered outward cool!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜😁
Well it started out very cool . Trying to cover a large area can cause issues. Thanks for posting This molly.
Omg I love this! It reminds me of being on the lake as a kid skipping rocks and it leaving the ripples in it as it skips and showing the colors of the ripples!! Like wow I love this so so much!!!! Love the childhood memory it gave me❤❤❤
Ps I've been binge watching you since 5am lol had a rough time getting any sleep these past few days! I'm getting some great ideas to do with the kids like the balloon smash love it!!
Thank you!
Oh yes, happens to me too sometimes! Love watching at videos to relax! Thank you!
@@MOLLYSARTISTRY you're welcome❤
I liked it!! Had a friend see this for the first and she loved it!!
That is absolutely beautiful!! Love that technique 🥰
I actually like it a lot ♥️ those colors are so pretty ♥️
I think it looks like a hurricane in the Ocean. I kinda like it !!
I actually love the outcome. It’s beautiful to me
👍🏼Not bad at all! BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER! 👏🏼
I totally get it! I don't use silicone in my paintings, I feel that it's not my thing. Scrape and go for the next one!!!!
It's gorgeous and adorable!
I LOOOOOOVE IT seriously the worst? NAH its beautiful! That's what art is all about!
Great adventure with paint molly it looks good. Sometimes things turn out differently.
It is a hot mess, thank you for sharing. And for having such a great sense of humor.
Thanks for watching!
That is why I love fluid art, you just do not what you are going to get! lol Molly it is not that bad...
I love this one it looks how I feel every day. Keep it up
I actually love it.
I actually really love
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
One thing I love about you Molly is that I can always count on your honesty! It looks like it's MY work! 🤣🤣🤣
I love this painting! I would totally hang this in my room if I could afford it!
I think it’s very pretty!
I actually love it. I think it looks great.
I love it! looks like a awesome wave surfers would love to ride. Its different and not something we've all seen a Hundred times just in different colors. I'd buy it if I could afford to.❤
Let the flow be with you for the lovely work you do
Thanks for showing that process... I’ve had some paintings that I’ve wondered where they came from even after I’ve completed all the steps (I thought PERFECTLY). Well guess what ??? My painting had another idea of what it wanted to be .... lol ❤️❤️😇❤️💕
It is not ugly. I like it... Maybe because of the colors. And my first open cup painting was really... Weird... muddy... or something like that.
Ok, Molly you can relax now and paint a wave ..scrape your colors and see what happens. Thanks for showing us that even the pros make ugly paintings...its a sacrifice to the paint gods..... love Molly's art...
I like it! Call it The Birth of a Galaxy .
I’m so sad you don’t like this pour!! I love it!!
The positive: those are beautiful colors though. Keep smiling!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂so I could laugh the hole day, when I look at MY paints😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
It DOES NOT look ugly MOLLY.
It looks like a splash 💦 💜 I LOVE IT !!!
Thank you! 😊
Beauty is in the eye of........ that may be the one painting that someone goes ape over....lol. I still enjoyed watching you do it!
I kinda love it. My daughter’s a blue fanatic and I know she’d love it also.
You are an amazing artist and I’m sure you can save that one.
I think it's awesome.
Disgusting this painting is not! I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not everyone likes the same things, but this is absolutely STUNNING!!! Its nice that you are open to trying new and different techniques. Thank you for another amazing video!
Its far from the worst I think its amazing!!
It's not ugly at all! The colors are beautiful and you have some interesting shapes. Let it dry & see what happens...😁
Of course, YOU have to be happy with it! 'Fail forward' is one of the best pieces of advice I ever got. It inspires me to keep going & to see the best in everything & learn from it...😊
I agree...lol....not your best! But glad to see "what not to do" as well. Thanks Molly - I learn something every time I watch!
The beauty of art is that every piece is one of a kind. There’s no rules to art... There’s nothing ugly about it! Be nicer to yourself!
I really like it love the colors.
It's all about experimentation and risk taking - I love it and the fact that you tried something that was a bit different. Sometimes those things surprise us in an amazing way, and sometimes they aren't quite what we had hoped, but if you never try you'll never know! (I think someone famous said something like that only much better!!!) :)
Hahaha, thank you adryanna!
Beautiful!!!!!!
You could try again and tilt? The cells in the beginning were wicked cool.
yes i was just trying not to tilt. but if i do it again i think i will use less paint and tilt!
I like it!!
I think it's awesome! I especially love the eye... You did good!
I love the colors! 😁👍
I'm so glad u can see the humour in your work when things don't turn out. I'm looking at it and thinking... not her best work🤔 However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's probably not what u were invisioning. Live and learn😄.
