Over 3 hours of "until I lose" challenge? Way to flex, Olexa!
The madman really meant it when he said he’d upload a 3 hour vid
Perfect sleep fodder
Having something like three whole minutes of Tyler guessing his password for geoguesser is so funny
Also, TVRUHH is always a welcome sight on this channel. (And glad you convinced Vee to try it)
I never watch streams because my timezone is often such that people stream while I'm asleep. But posting the full VOD is great - I can work through it the next few days in the evenings and over lunches without having to worry about when to tune in!
Yeah I'm the same. I'll still try to catch an olexamas stream in december, like every year. To donate!
Made it through the entire video. Was amazing. I thought it was funny when that GeoGuessr location was North Carolina, because damn, it felt like it could be any small town in New York. Also, Hitman was hilarious. The Pyramid is awesome. Definitely considering giving it a shot. Seems like some great content! Thanks for sharing, and great video!
My idea for olexmas is the finish to bookworm adventures vol 2, was really enjoying the series
the difference in your personality in regular videos compared to streams is insane
Streams are where it’s at. Streams and Isaac content are just the same energy at this point
What a lovely episode Olenky! A 6 game streak is pretty dang solid!
-Definitely not Anna 68305
Wow my second (third?) video name drop and it's about how i am the "worst case scenario" person in chat, great!
Like and comment the straight unedited stream dump >:)
While I understand not wanting to “grind a game” to win Imo I think thats a incredibly narrow-minded view on meta progression.
1. If its done right you dont actually need to invest you can simply get good.
2. If you lose then you will eventually win. It narrows the gap on skill with effort.
3. It gives a sense of progression and lessens the feeling of “wasted time” if you lose a run (not that I particularly fall in that mindset)
The *progression* is what makes the roguelikes LIKES (also lites). Any unlock at all is meta just some help you out. Bashing your head against a no/low meta progression run in-fact makes for good content just not easy wins.
There’s ways to do it right, for sure. But I’d argue 90% of games aren’t doing it right haha
@@OlexaYT That mindset/view unfortunately turned me off to your channel, having to worry about complaining or such about a drop of meta progression in a new title does not make for fun content to watch (atleast for me theres probably someone out there rooting for it), HOWEVER I genuinely appreciate your casual/chill response to criticism.
"worst watch rate" not today sir I'm watching the whole thing
unedited 3 hour long video
clearly olexa good
Don’t think I saw Curious expedition listed. Domt recomend the secound game, but the first is fantastic… second is just knock off darkest dungeon, but open world.
Made it to the end. I'd contest that Hitman isn't really a roguelike. Sure, you got that mode that gives you random objectives and random gear, but just doesn't have the same spirit ya know. Though it is still fun.
That mode is 100% a roguelike lol.
There's always one more guard, even after remodeling the floor with human flesh.
I didnt check the video length before I started watching. So glad I didnt!
If I understand it correctly you code and can mod games?
If that is the case:
An Idea for olexmas would be either to play modded mosa Lina if there exist any mods and if they don’t exist, then to maybe mod a few items yourself (small changes or full new items). On a stream some own ideas or the chat gives suggestions, and maybe even the devs could give you a few how-to tips for the code.
If that is too difficult then maybe a few item reskins (just changing the sprites to a more christmas and charity look) in the games files, if you are capable of small pixel art
There’s no modding potential for Mosa Lina yet and frankly I’m not in a state where I have time to start modding games haha
Lol, Caves of Qud is such a wild inclusion on this list, wasn't even an option.
We’ve actually made it in a way where it’s accessible as a mini challenge!
I always wondered how you did those "Every time I get hit" videos.
The true magic of editing
Apex!! Haha, that would end quick😂
hey you should play angry birds epic whenever u can get the chance. i think u would enjoy it a lot! its an rpg turn based game with lots of weapons and classes. its personally one of my favorites and it would mean the world to see u play it especially since not many people play it anymore. im intrigued to hear your opinion about it.
I appreciate the suggestion but I don’t do mobile games, sorry
@@OlexaYT u can get it on pc
What he uses for making the draft and the first screen?
Edit: The software is called "Pyramid Ultimate"?
Yup, that’s the Pyramid
For olexamis i vote we get orbital patato and play unrailed
Circadian Dice. Crap Shoot. I see what you did there.
I have also been watching etho and bdubbs for years lol
Yo, that geoguesser soundtrack was sick, what was that track?
Harris Heller’s Streambeats!
can you imagine a world where he starts with noita?
have you added Space food truck or they dont sleep?
I honestly don’t know either of these games lol
@@OlexaYT i really thought you'd know "they dont sleep"-
3:20:40 it was fun to wat 3.5h lol
When you said you watch EthosLab I was like😮
Huge Minecraft, previous mindcrack fan, and current hermitcraft fan.
is chess a rougelike?
by the way, what happened to sea of stars?
We only did one episode, was a sponsorship. Really awesome and beautiful game, but not the kind of game I’d typically play past an olexa look on my channel
I made it to the end!
Please tyler, im heavily addicted to dot age. Upload more dot age.
No dotage today, tomorrow
i dont know how much time wasting there is in making a roguelike beatable on the first run tho? some games it works, some it doesn't, some it's fine either way. tiny rogues is good either way. beats microtransactions and skins
Just because it’s possible to do so doesn’t make it easy. Spelunky is beatable on run 1 and I have 400 hours in it
i am so confused by apex being there. is apex considered a roguelike in the roguelike community?
FORTNITE?!?!?
The Pyramid has expanded to include some non-indie and non-roguelike games. Legend of Zelda BOTW, the battle royales, warioware… we’re expanding
See? Okexa good!
I did make it to that point in the video
umm demon soul type games boss battle take hrs unless ur a chad
3hrs? Weird flex but ok
Yeah, no, I generally agree with everything you say about meta progression, but I completely disagree about Hades.
It feels like you aren't supposed to be able to beat the game on the first try, because you aren't. That's the story.
Then, you build up as much meta progression you need to, slowly making the game easier and easier until you eventually beat the game and earn the ability to go back to hard mode with the Pact of Punishment.
The greatest problem I have with roguelikes with meta progression is the fact that the game gets easier over time, while you get better, but Hades completely fixes that issue.
It obviously isn't good for a youtube video or two, but it was never meant to be.
Bleh. We’ll agree to disagree. The fact that the argument is “it feels like you aren’t supposed to be able to beat the game on the first try, because you aren’t” is weak. It’s a roguelike. Why should I bother playing a game where I can’t win until I’ve dumped a bunch of time into it? I get there’s story but there’s a hell of a lot of other roguelikes with story that isn’t gated by meta progression. Spelunky players aren’t beating hell on their first ever run. Enter the Gungeon players aren’t beating the dragun on their first run. What makes Hades so special here? Not to mention that the gameplays also just kinda doodoo in hades so I can hate on it for that too
@@OlexaYT I mean, I don't know what to tell you, that's just how the game was designed. The story is literally that you are a not-that-powerful demigod, trying to escape from the underworld, and the first boss is sent to pick you up by killing you. It'd be kinda weird for you to defeat them with relative ease.
Supergiant took the Rogue Legacy formula of grinding to be able to complete the game, and improved it by adding a very extensive story that's implemented in a way that feels satisfying to uncover (and is unlocked by dying repeatedly, so it'd be weird to win too quickly), and a way to turn the game back onto being actually hard, after you lower the difficulty by leveling up.
I myself don't particularily like the meta progression in Hades, but, out of all the roguelikes that have a meta progression system, it's definitely one of the better ones.
As for Tiny Rogues, I feel like it's weird to even have a meta progression system in the game if it's easy enough to beat without a single upgrade. Like, what's the point? Letting the player unlock an easy mode disguised as a progression system?
It’s not easy to beat tiny rogues without meta, I’m just good at the game lol
@@OlexaYT I didn't mean it was easy, but it's probably about as easy as beating Spelunky in any fashion.
Having a meta progression system in a game where it's already balanced to be played like that just causes players to think they're advancing the game while putting on training wheels in disguise.
Totally agree with that at least. Fwiw there’s a reason I don’t use it, I think it’s a poorly constructed system. And so does the dev, bc they’re completely remaking it in the new update ha
Man, chat is so rude to Olexa sometimes, I mean it's usually pretty funny but yeesh.
these dotage fans are really becoming the new isaac fans it seems
You dont like meta progression because you're a content creator that needs to play a bunch of different games. Not everyone is like that.
no, i don't like stat based meta progression because it's awful game design to gate winning behind time.
oh man no dot age as usual
Yeah unfortunately couldn’t get one done for today, back tomorrow
Why is this windows exclusive
Because we coded it as a Python executable that only runs on windows
👍👍👍@@OlexaYT
Apex Legends is considered a Roguelike????
Nah. We just have some non roguelikes/indies in the pyramid
@@OlexaYT yeaaaah in hindsight that seems like a dumb question, especially considering Apex has been my jam since it came out in 2019.
Dot age ):
your whole take on metaprogression is incredibly godawful. especially given all of the best roguelikes around have metaprogression. like gungeon, and isaac.
Content based metaprogression ✅
Stat based metaprogression ❌
Huge difference between them… the only content based progression game that I still think is bad with its progression is dead cells solely because of the sheer amount of souls it takes to unlock everything.
But you won’t see me complain about roguelikes with unlocks for new content (characters, items, mechanics, etc.)
Broo when are you uploading DotAge
Tomorrow, didn’t have one prepared for today
@@OlexaYT that's unfair bro
So true, it’s unfair that I’m not giving you your free content because I’m busy
Marvel snap videos when???
Oh no
