  • The Truth of Rebirth: Why it Matters for Buddhist Practice.

Each time you choose one course of action over another, you're making a wager as to the consequences of your choice. This is especially true if the choice is between something easy that promises pleasant short-term rewards, and something hard that promises great rewards but only after a long time. Will the harder choice be worth the effort? Will the easier one be irresponsible in the long run? As a person embedded in time, there's no way you can know for sure.
To begin with, there are the particulars of your own personal future: Will you or those you love live long enough to experience the results of your choices? Will disaster interfere to wipe out everything you've done?
Then there are the larger uncertainties of life in general: Do we even have choices in our actions, or are all our choices predetermined by some past or outside power beyond our control? If we do have choices, is it worthwhile to struggle over difficult ones? Do they really matter? And even if our choices do matter, how far into the future should we calculate the consequences? Do they shape only this life, or can they shape lives after death?
Arguments based on logic or reason have never been able to settle these issues conclusively, the world's great religions don't agree on their answers, and the empirical sciences have no way of answering these questions at all. Yet we all keep having to grapple with these questions. We don't leave it at, "I don't know," and refuse to entertain them, for even the refusal to think about these things is a wager: that ultimately they won't matter.
The Buddha taught, however, that they do matter a great deal, and that awakening - in going beyond the dimensions of space and time - gives perspective on how choices operate within those dimensions. You see that choices are real, that they do make a difference, and that the consequences of your choices can shape not only this life but also many lifetimes in the future - as long as the mind still has the craving that leads to rebirth after death. Prior to awakening, you can't know these things for sure, but as the Buddha states, if you want to gain awakening and to minimize suffering in the meantime, it's wisest to assume these principles as working hypotheses.
Of course, that's taking the Buddha at his word - which as long as you haven't gained awakening, is a wager, too. The purpose of this small podcast on the Buddha's teachings about rebirth is to show why, as you engage repeatedly in the wagers of action, the wisest course is to place your bets with him.

We can understand rebirth by looking at our everyday lives. Everyday we experience a rebirth after sleep (symbolic to death) and continue to both live with our past actions (yesterday's deeds) and create new karma with today's deeds. This rebirth also occurs moment by moment as well.

Here is the famous quote of beloved Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda:
You won't become Angel immediately after death.
Death of a human is just a process, a thin line between existence and non existence.
God will not grant you complete immunity against all your bad karma you gathered before death.
You will be re born carrying the responsibility of dragging the life to annihilate those karmas.
Hence on the earthly life, every human being must do only acts of goodness, avoid doing bad things.
Think, speak and do good things

When did the universe born ?
    Where do I come from?
    Originally, who am I?
Why am I born into the world and what is my purpose?
    Why are there reincarnation?
How many reincarnations have I been through?
Where do I go after this lifetime and do I have my choice of reincarnation?
    How can I transcend reincarnation?
Buddha speaks the truth about life and our universe.
Life refers to ourselves and universe refers to our surrounding.
If one don't encounter the Buddha's Teachings, the first thing is you won't know the reason for being a human.
Buddha told us phenomena is an illusion, existence is emptiness.
If there is no existence, there is no affinity condition.
No affinity condition means there is no karmic retributions.
Pure Mind to seek rebirth into Western Pure Land.
Unvirtuous mind creates affinity condition of birth and death /reincarnations.
The three stages or conditions to reform our mind in this karmic world.
First, stop all wrongdoings and cultivating goodness.
    Start with observing the Precepts.
We reform our unkind mind into virtuous mind.
The second stage, from virtuous mind, we reform our deluded mind to an awakened mind. Awakened to the truth, all existence is only a dream, nothing is real.
One is not attach to anything.
The third stage we reform from an ordinary to become a sage.
Ordinaries see the condition of changes in the karmic world.
They are highly superstitious of everything.
Sage sees emptiness and existence are one not two.
Sages are not be affected by karmic retribution.

This is kind of a New Age version of Buddhism. Just read the Buddhist canon. It's enough.

Rebirth or reincarnation will only happen within time and space. If there’s no time, the concept of rebirth/reincarnation will fall…

yes, rebirth vs. annihilation seems pretty straightforward... it's 'rebirth' vs. 'reincarnation' that is less clear to me...

    Rebirth is a Hindu/Jain concept.
The Buddha spoke of ANATTA, which means that there is no ego. No soul. No person called me. Bhawa is a thought. PUNAR Bhawa is a new thought.
It is thought that is born millions of times. That is the Original Buddha Teaching. Mixing “ rebirth of the person “ is injustice to the Truth.
Repeated “ birth and death of the thoughts “ in the mind needs to be stopped, in order to enter the Path to Nibbana. This Truth will “ disturb the hornets “ as if it would annoy the ignorant, who have accepted the Hindu/Jain concepts.
As in Kalama Sutta, use your own intellect to see the Truth. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

If there is no person. No soul. No me. No I. There is no person called me. Then how can there be rebirth. OBVIOUS. That is the Buddha’s Original Teaching.
      Do your research.
