Samyang 14mm On Sony a7iii Video Test Review Cinematic

In this video I'm testing how cinematic the samyang 14mm (no rf )autofocus lense is on the Sony a7iii can be for video.

@@DigitalDre Yeah exactly, there aren't too many options for mirrorless sony cameras anyway and this looks like the best affordable wide lens for it

Do you find there is more camera shake with this lens? There is more weight at the end of the lens and was not sure if that is reason.

Great video! If you don’t use a ND outside, what’s your trick to film with the a7iii without getting over exposure??

The a7iii has a shutter which goes up to 1/8.000. I ignore motion blur and compensate the exposure only with shutter. Of course with such a wide angle I close down the aperture as well to get less light in, because bokeh is not really given with this lense anyway. But with portrait lenses I often make use of the high shutter speed to keep the aperture open.

@@DigitalDre thx man! I’ll try filming in 100 fps/ shutter 200 and aperture to 5 or 8. Will that do the trick?

@@richardvlasveld well it always depends on the brightness of your environment. You can even film 100fps with a shutter speed of 1/2000 and aperture f1.8. Try it out!

Thanks for this review. We are using auto focus for the sequences with all the flipping and jumping? And do you recall which f stop? I just purchased this lens and I’m used to using a 50 mm which is a totally different beast for videography

Hi, I don‘t think so. It is due to the lense and it‘s super wide angle. Your focus field should be very small because there are a lot of subjects in the frame of a 14mm lense.
