      @@chrisrebar2381 I agree he was just a planned disclosure like "Deep Throat" was in the 70s-80s. Bradley/Chelsea Manning was a greater leak as he/she leaked diplomatic cables and SIPRNET documents. Snowden is hated because he brought national attention to domestic surveillance program that watches all Americans.

      Get Snowden on to call him the whore and coward he is.. he was upset he didn’t make it into special job he wanted, and nobody liked him. He saw an opportunity to make money selling to the Russians or Chinese. He is a spurned girl that the media had no choice but to call him a good guy. This reminds me of a situation here in Australia. A national telco called Optus was hacked and user data was stolen. As far as I'm aware it was only emails, names and addresses - no bank details. A month or so later a health insurer called medibank was hacked. All stored data was leaked - user info, health records and banking details.
    I'm hoping you may be able to do a video on the situation. They're still pretty recent events so it may be difficult to find sources for research and interviews, but I suspect it was the same hackers between the two hacks.
    cheers mate 🤙

    Just as an aside, and I'm sure there'll be other folks out there to support my experience, but GCHQ were reaching directly into UK IT & Software related undergraduate courses for years before this, cherry picking the brightest (or most nefarious) folks on them. I distinctly remember an email coming around from them targeting everyone. At my Uni however you could read your email in two ways, one via a standard Windows PC (Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. The other was via a Sun Microsystems terminal, so a completely different environment. Opening that mail in Pine and having a read of the source was very interesting.... And I'm glad I never opened it on a windows machine for sure!

    Having worked for SBC (ATT/Pacific Bell) back in the day, this stuff was literally built into the infrastructure. I was around when DSL was considered broadband and you could do this easily at multiple switches. The big one is actually recording all this traffic.

    • @L_Train
      @L_Train 2 года назад +1

      Lol I remember playing an online game back in the day and dreaming of having the super fast DSL internet instead of my 56k dial up. There was even a 128k IDSN internet that seemed lightning quick.

    • @mattnsac
      @mattnsac 2 года назад +1

      @@L_Train ISDN was the shit until DSL showed up. I got it for free as an employee, but behind the scenes seeing all the switches being digitized via Project Pronto and our ability to digitally tap and record traffic for diagnostic purposes, it was clear to me then that you could basically listen and record everyones phone calls (including the government). What I didnt understand back then was the ability to do the same with data on the same lines, but smarter people did and that was baked into the infrastructure going on. PRISM is a perfect example of basically tapping international traffic coming into San Francisco and doing what we could on a smaller scale locally.
