Thanks WN your views keep us up to date far better than and local authority or government department who tend to not tell us how they are spending our money on a problem that is rather obvious.. many thanks
Thanks WN. Seems a few more days should see the water gone. The forecast is good with several dry days so it shouldn’t be too long. Of course who knows what damage has been done to the pumping station and the road itself. Anyway, thanks again, very appreciated. ☝
I would hope by end of Saturday the road would be clear, they said they cleared 2ft today so with a little luck. Then the assessment work starts, they're clearly not worried by the bridge as it remained open so hopefully nothing long term.
@@Frankie789 Several factors contribute to them not being able to do so. The water table in the area is naturally very high and that part of the road, being in a hollow, forms a sink. Having experienced some 3 to 4 times our entire normal Sept rainfall within 24 hrs, the surrounding ground is totally saturated. So, basically, if they pumped water into the surrounding fields, it would simply flow back onto the road. I have heard, though I stress it is only hearsay, that the road cuts through an underground water course. Hence, even without the huge amount of rain, the pumps need to operate 24/7 in order to remove the water flowing through that system. I would add that it isn't only this road that has been flooded in the local area. Many smaller roads plus the A6 have also had problems with flooding.
Thanks for the update. Awful planning by whoever did this. It's causing chaos in that area. No good alternative routes for large vehicles. Lots of local roads either flooded or shut for gas works. This is what happens when you build on a flood plain!
I'm sure on Sunday, HGVs were being allowed along to Husborne Crawley with paint over the restriction but tonight that has been banned again. Staff were taking photos of parked up HGVs last night.

Why the tankers? Why not lay some pipes and pump it into the surrounding countryside?

@@Frankie789 They're doing both, pipes & pumps + tankers
@@SolveEtCoagula93 OK, thanks for the information.
Perhaps the planners who designed this layout could work with Thames Water on their new reservoir....
Still Nobody hold accountable for this mess?
