I lived in Barrow for much of the 1960s and we used to get regular flooding events in the winter. I don't remember any thing quite as extensive as this although I have seen it worse under Barrow Bridge. I wonder whether the building of the A6 bypass right up the middle of the valley has made it worse?

I’m Loughborough born and bred and the river soar area has always flooded … slash lane etc . But honestly, I have never known the industrial estate to be under water before .
I actually come from Leicester but moved to Germany many years ago this happened to us here last year, took ages for the water to drain, all your “rain/snow” is due to land here tomorrow I’m not looking forwards……..thanx for the update
Working out from Loughborough since Saturday into Sunday on nights, last night Monday into Tuesday we had to abandon works on Butt Lane … Kegworth Shallow Lock is completely gone … we are now having to select our works carefully … the railway embankment at mill bridge was ok and Sileby last night wasn’t too bad … Hathern Kegworth Normanton on soar completely gone, many trapped and abandoned vehicles. People are nuts driving through … my boys on nights were told and I will be telling them again tonight… no heroics.

I know that it's a popular talking point and gives all a chance to hate on someone else again, but really? PLEASE think about it.The rivers are overflowing their frigging banks, how are the drainage channels supposed to discharge their water if the outlets are BELOW the water level. It's just physics.

Councils letting developer do what they want creating surface run off. Sue the councils. It’s happened in Leicester to us same again councils allowing developments and la k of maintenance.
Sue the councils so that they have more money to maintain drainage systems. You should look at how local councils are funded before you call up the brains trust for a class action.

Also it makes you wonder have any Rivers been redirected or stopped for some work of some type like they did in Liverpool or Manchester recently? Anyway never live next to a river the coast or down stream of a dam ⚠️

Might be the clogged up debris screens. If you put these screens in they need emptying. This is the fault of the councils completely.
