ELP is truly one of the LEGEND GROUPS. Growing up listening to them. My hats off to Carl, he still one of the best drummers. RIP Greg Lake and Keith Emerson. You’re gone but not forgotten. Your music is everlasting.
Unbelievable. He's 73 years old!! Without a doubt one of the 5 greatest drummers of all time, imho, along with Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, Mitch Mitchell, and Keith Moon .... the great Carl Palmer!!
He's always brought so much to the table, not just skills on drums. So much of his greatness is his attitude about drumming. One of my forever inspirations.
The most amazing Drummer of all time 😁 My first concert was welcome back my friends in'74 saw multiple times with ELP and ASIA saw him in 2015 and met him in person and again in 2019 The nicest most humble Artist ever took time to talk with me and so many others I have the utmost respect for him as an Artist and a person!🥁🎵🎶🎼💯
i was actually LISTENING to “food for your soul” the other day and thinking what a treasure Carl’s skill set is... then remembered the docu made of him ages ago post ELP, how he teaches percussion to kids. What warm generosity from a superstar Guess the loss of The Prof has me thinking of drummers ... kinda bummed ppl leave out Baker, Krupa in that lineage with Rich... they were something too.
He is ALWAYS at his peak when he plays. I don't know what kind of genetics he has but whatever they are, infused with the musicality of a Krupa and chops of a Rich, the technical and innovative intricacies of of an (Elvin) Jones and the all out ability to brawl like a Bonham, Carl Palmer is one of the best drummers to have every lived. In my head (read that: my own personal opinion) he was Peart's only (friendly) rival in the world of drumming. A beast of a drummer!
This guy simply doesn't age. A lifetime dedicated to his craft and it shows. And he is a gentleman too..met him at a Carl Palmer ELP Legacy concert in Buffalo, N.Y. in 2019. Went out of his way to meet and greet fans and have conversations and photo ops with the fans.
I've seen Peart, Paice, Powell, Portnoy, and still think Barrie Barlow was the best I ever saw. My friend said no, he'd seen Palmer, and he was better than them all. Dammit, it sure seems like he was correct.
One of the greats. 73 years old & still playing his ass of. To all the people out there that say he's not that good. Send me a video when you're 73 of your solo.
Saw him dec 73.aug 74..77 4x..92 thru 2000..his stainless steel era kit 73 till march 78.was a classic best solo around back then..saw bonzo 73 75 kit .that was monster also
Did you know Peart's 1st Rotating Drum Riser was bought from Carl after the 73-74 Brain Salad Surgery World Tour? Peart's 2 greatest influences? Buddy and Carl. 'nuf said
Very skilled and you can see all the years of practice. Whats obvious in the present is that you can almost see how he builds a solo upon his own strength. He probably has a routine, but he stretches out and goes beyond his capabilities . He's daring in that way. He busts his ass practicing for long periods of time prior to ever going out on the road. At age 73!
Let's be honest when discussing the pantheon of great drummers his name just doesn't always come up but it should! And he should write a book on longevity and I'm not kidding. Holy shit!!
I don't care who you are...a 11 minute drum solo is to much. However, watching Carl do this at his age without falling over is...well...extra special I guess. ;-)
"Get On With it Then!..." Remember that? "The Sheriff". At the beginning...of the song! Not "From the Beginning"! 🤣 On Trilogy Album. Check it Out, with headphones (ear buds).
Carl gets my respects many times over not considering Buddy Rich 2 of the greatest, Wow Trilogy was his best drumming ever in my humble opinion, Tarkus muy bueno tambien!
HOLY CRAP! Carl Palmer was one of the best drummers of all time, in his 20's.... Now that he's in his 70's.... he still IS!
I cannot agree more. Ageless wonder and he just has heart surgery a few months ago
Actually, the best drummer of all time goes to Carl for lessons!

+ John Bonham and Simon Philips
Agreed, but don’t forget Gene Krupa and Joe Moreno
@@flaviuteodorescu4916Nope! They are not in his league.
Keith Moon🤦♂
All these names mentioned are legends.Since Carl is of my generation,I stick closely to him.
He is special and puts everything into his performances. ELP needed him, and they wouldn't have been without him. A real living diamond.
Absolutely a solid 1/3rd. Like Oreo cookies and milk.
I agree 100% and did you know they almost got Mitch Mitchel instead???
@@TerryDrumCovers1951 Did not know !
He's always brought so much to the table, not just skills on drums. So much of his greatness is his attitude about drumming. One of my forever inspirations.
Carl has been my favorite drummer since 1980. This cat is so horribly underrated.
Carl Palmer is one of the best drummers ever.. I had seen him at the Fillmore East with ELP.. He was fantastic then and still is!!!!!!!
I made a last minute decision to attend this show and was glad I did!
Thank you Carl for this ELP Experience.
He makes me feel old watching him. The longevity of this man is stunning.
Carl still killing it at 73. Him and Buddy were my main influences. Saw ELP in '73 and '77 in Madison Square Garden.

Master among masters, Carl Palmer.
One of the greats and still killing it at 73. Even the Master,Buddy Rich, had good things to say about Carl!!

His father AND Grandfather were professional drummers. It is in his blood.
Saw ELP in the 70s with the band 10 Years After. ELP was amazing !!!

One of the greats. 73 years old & still playing his ass of. To all the people out there that say he's not that good. Send me a video when you're 73 of your solo.

Beloved icon long live Carl❤
Even when playing to a small crowd, Carl gives 100%.
Thats why he's a legend.
I was there last night and just blown away ,I put him as my #2 that I have seen very close behind the professor.
Did you know Peart's 1st Rotating Drum Riser was bought from Carl after the 73-74 Brain Salad Surgery World Tour? Peart's 2 greatest influences? Buddy and Carl. 'nuf said
No way Carl is the GOAT next to Buddy, Peart is not

Qué placer!!!
ELP were each fantastic composers and musicians. Carl brought so much to their music. He blows my mind. I'd take him over Buddy Rich.
Increíble para la edad que tiene ahora!... Pure Energy...!!!
Awesome, he's in good shape to be able to still play like that ! ELP was my 2nd rock concert back in '77 i think, at the olympic stadium in Montreal
the best english drummer carl palmer
Come to Detroit Carl Palmer.
King Carl.
Legend.
Good thing he had gotten off the drugs and booze early in life. Look how badass he still is. Respect
Todavía está activo q maravillaaaaaa
Damn. Carl Palmer is just as bombastic at 73 as he was at 23
You can’t tell me that he’s not the greatest rock drummer of all time!
Nice kit.
Let's be honest when discussing the pantheon of great drummers his name just doesn't always come up but it should! And he should write a book on longevity and I'm not kidding. Holy shit!!
He's in the top 5 and stillgoing.Actually he's probably as good as ever because he plays all the time
Never mind the polls, folks. They are gaslighting you. Carl Palmer is the GOAT of rock drummers!
Hear hear
He will maintain his greatest.
Good for him
Wow
I'm looking for it, but unfortunately there isn't a normal quality recording of such a big icon during a drum solo
I don't care who you are...a 11 minute drum solo is to much. However, watching Carl do this at his age without falling over is...well...extra special I guess. ;-)
quebra tuuuudo!!!
"Get On With it Then!..." Remember that? "The Sheriff". At the beginning...of the song! Not "From the Beginning"! 🤣 On Trilogy Album. Check it Out, with headphones (ear buds).
El era creo el primer batería q tuvo el trío pq después vino cosi power
Great Buddy Rich shool. Is he playing in a clinic, right?
Was that a two stroke or a four stroke engine ?
i see Carl still holds his sticks the conventional way good for him thats awesome
😌✌️
The only drummer to steal Buddy Rich from his throne!
Long live ludwig
Masterdrummer..
He likes his Ludwig! (Lewd-Vig). Yes, you can call it Lud-Wig. 🥁🎵🎶🤣😂🙂
Lets not forget Phill Ehart!!! and I believe you may have meant Joe Morello!
Yes, let's remember Phil Ehart. Just turned 73 and recovering from massive heart attack. (2/24/24)
He obviously keeps himself in great shape.Good reminder for me to get off my couch potato arse & hit the gym.
Very true. You rarely see a fat drummer.
Buddy Rich was a huge influence on Carl.
🥱
Someone sold his soul , Carl !
He's so fast RUclips can't keep up with him!😂
Carl gets my respects many times over not considering Buddy Rich 2 of the greatest, Wow Trilogy was his best drumming ever in my humble opinion, Tarkus muy bueno tambien!

He sounds like Buddy Rich.
