    After looking up the 0-18 on youtube, I went to my local dealer. Tried it for about 5 mins. Did not even bother to play any other guitar as a ref. Sounded so good. Just bought it and it is now my favorite. Amazing!

      It will just keep sounding better as time goes by. Check out these strings: Martin MA540FX Tommy's Choice Authentic Flexible Core 92/8 Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - .012-.054 Light guage. I use them on my 00-18L, yes lefty. I think they sound great and find them easy on the fingers. Enjoy your guitar!

    I have never understood Martins pricing system - Looking at the 18 series guitars it seems they are the equal of the 21 series so why pay more for the 21? I recently struggled to sell a 00016-RGS which was very much the equal of my friends OM-21 in every respect but the 16 had herringbone rosette and binding - it eventually sold for just over half the asking prices for the used 21's I've seen.
    I don't get it. Snob value?

    I played both of these. Preferred the 00-18 to the 0-18. But I bought the 00-15 because of the narrower nut width. Recently, I found a Martin custom 00-18 style with sinker mahogany back and sides and adi top and the narrower nut width. Sounded like a piano. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford it.

    • @MESpen-ob7rp
      @MESpen-ob7rp Год назад +1

      Wow. If you demoed that Custom 0018 at Austin Vintage Guitars, I'll bet you played the guitar I traded for awhile back. I'm sorry you could'nt make it work for you at that time. And like you, I also could not afford it, but after 30 seconds of playing that 00, I knew I had to have it. Like you said, a piano. I was just lucky in that I had some gear to trade. I had to trade in a MUCH loved J45 and a Strat, but don't regret it one bit.

    I love jumbos and dreadnoughts. Purchasing an inexpensive, laminate Yamaha with a 000/OM body style was a pleasant eye-opener. The tight waist on some jumbos and 000/OMs helps define their sound (among many other attributes) as it did with that Yamaha. They're both instruments that sound good in some applications. If I had the disposable income, I'd own a whole lot of different acoustic guitars. Helpful demonstration to define their sonic characteristics.
