I saw this live and it was one of the best panels I've ever seen. Every one of these panelists are so entertaining. It seemed like a weird mix at first but it made for such great conversation. Can't wait for next year!!
Alana Dill Sadly every new generation of teenagers thinks that they have PROBLEMS and that their parents "dont understand them" ... because - obviously - parents skipped that period of time and went from being babies right to being adults. Regardless of their success ... THEY are "the chosen few", "the lucky ones" ... the few ones who can make a career out of their passion. Most of the rest of the world will be "working at McDonalds" ... and that is something which kids need to "learn" from the start so they keep their expectations realistic.
Muck006 I understand what you're saying. At the same time, it's important to remember that "realistic" expectations are what keep people in line when they could be aiming to better themselves. Even if one is working in a salt mine, it's still important to have dreams & goals. I live in a place that offers a lot of opportunities but I didn't strive for them in my youth because my parents kept telling me I'd starve. If I hadn't gone the "practical" route I'd actually be doing better financially. I sold myself short.
