According to the Quran, the Earth is described as being: 1. "Dahaha" (دَحَاهَا) - spread out or expanded (Quran 51:48, 79:30) 2. "Mahiyya" (مَحِيَّة) - an egg-shaped or oval body (Quran 39:5) 3. "Sukkhar" (سُكَّر) - a sphere or a ball (Quran 31:10)

Ancient Hindu Knowledge of the Earth's Spherical Nature To prove that ancient Hindu scholars recognized Earth's spherical nature before the Greeks, I tried to present the following points: 1. Surya Siddhanta (circa 3000 BCE): - This ancient Hindu text states that the Earth’s circumference is 4,967 yojanas, which converts to about 39,736 km. Remarkably, this is very close to the modern value of 40,075 km, showcasing early advanced knowledge of Earth's dimensions. 2. Aryabhata (499 CE): - Aryabhata declared Earth as spherical and explained its rotation, which causes the apparent movement of stars. He accurately calculated the sidereal day as 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.1 seconds, almost identical to modern values. 3. Brahmagupta (598-668 CE): - Brahmagupta contributed to the understanding of gravity, explaining that objects fall due to an attractive force and further emphasized that Earth is round. 4. Aryabhata’s Eclipse Predictions: - Aryabhata accurately predicted solar and lunar eclipses, a feat only possible with an understanding of Earth, Sun, and Moon as spherical bodies. 5. Navagraha and Hindu Astronomy: - Hindu models of planetary orbits (Navagraha) implied a spherical Earth, as these celestial models depended on precise geometric calculations, which align with the understanding of a round Earth. Counter-Arguments and Rebuttals - While Greek astronomers such as Pythagoras, Aristotle, and Eratosthenes were influential, Surya Siddhanta’s earlier origin shows that similar knowledge existed in India long before Greek scholars. Although not as widely documented globally, the evidence still stands. - Eratosthenes’ method of calculating Earth’s circumference using shadows was groundbreaking, but Surya Siddhanta provided a nearly identical value thousands of years earlier. - Though dating ancient texts is difficult, strong evidence supports that Surya Siddhanta and other oral traditions predate Greek contributions. Aryabhata himself acknowledged earlier scholars, indicating continuity in Hindu scientific knowledge. - Cultural exchanges existed between ancient civilizations, but India’s Vedic traditions (dating to 1500 BCE) independently developed cosmological ideas long before contact with the Greeks. Conclusion While both Indian and Greek contributions are significant, ancient Hindu texts provided scientific proof of Earth's spherical nature earlier than the Greeks. The precise calculations in the Surya Siddhanta and works of Aryabhata offer undeniable evidence of advanced knowledge in ancient India. This evidence supports the argument that Hindu scholars understood Earth's spherical shape centuries before Greek astronomers made similar discoveries.

Surya Siddhanta: This is an important treatise on Hindu astronomy, containing astronomical calculations about celestial bodies, planets, and the Earth. This treatise states that the Earth is spherical, and describes the motion of celestial bodies and their mutual relations. This treatise clearly states that the Earth is round and revolves around the Sun.

The Arabic for “He rolls” (Yukawwir / يُكَوِّرُ ) is derived from the Arabic word for “ball” (kurah / كرة ). This verse clearly informs us that the earth is round. Since the Earth is not exactly round, a specific reference to its shape is given in Sura 79, verse 30. The Arabic word used to describe the Earth in this verse is daḥāhā ( دَحَاهَا ), which is typically translated as “egg-shaped” or “spread.” [79:30] He made the earth egg-shaped.
وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ ۗ كُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ Hindi Translation: "वह वही है जिसने रात और दिन, सूर्य और चाँद को बनाया। सभी एक कक्ष में तैर रहे हैं।" Explanation: This verse describes celestial bodies as moving in their orbits, which aligns with a spherical Earth model where such movements can be observed due to the Earth's round shape.
Chapter An-Nazi'at (79), Verse: 30 وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا In English it is translated: “And after that, the earth: wide has He spread its expanse” amazingly, the word “دَحَاهَا” can also be translated: ”extended in egg shape.” so the translation can be: “And the earth, moreover, hath he extended in egg shape.” either way, both translations are correct. more amazingly, the word “دَحَا” (dahaa) is derived from word “دحية” (duhyah) wich specifically means ”egg of ostrich” (not just any egg).
"And after that He spread the earth" (Qur'an, 79:30). The Arabic word used here for "spread" is "dahāhā" (دحاها), which can be traced back to the root "dahā," meaning to shape something like an egg or to expand it. This word is related to the shape of an ostrich's egg in particular, which has led some interpreters to see it as a reference to the earth being slightly oval or oblate in shape, similar to the actual shape of the Earth (which is not a perfect sphere but slightly flattened at the poles and bulging at the equator). Key Points about the Ostrich Egg Interpretation: Dahāhā and Egg Shape: The reference to the ostrich egg comes from the interpretation of the word "dahāhā," which some scholars argue points to an oval or egg-like shape. While not universally accepted, it's one view that aligns with the modern understanding of Earth's oblate spheroid shape. Earth's Shape in Islam: Historically, Islamic scholars from medieval times have widely accepted the Earth as spherical. The "ostrich egg" example reinforces this understanding, especially in light of scientific discoveries.
I am being neutral here but as far as the language is concerned, yha "spread" ka usage to verb ke Hisab main h na? Matlab kisi cheez ko faila dena. Like I can see as to how some scholars argue for a flat earth from this verse
Dahaha refers to the nest of ostrich , and moreover if you even want to interpret it as egg , then it will not get fit into the sentence and break the rules of the grammar of the language , and would give no meaning. Why we think like this is because in this ayah, Allah (SWT) is talking about the earth and then we just think that dahaha is egg , but if we keep it in the sentence properly, it will sound like "And after that he [egg] the earth" or smth which is utterly not meaningful...
Please refer to these verses from the Quran for better understanding and please refer to the tafasirs from the not the modern but authentic ulamas , 43;10 13;3 71;19 2;22 ❤

Quran says والأرض بعد ذلك دحاها )) Then after that He made the earth like an egg) (79:30). Dahwah دحوة means in Arabic an egg. Some people translate this verse wrongly claiming that it means spreading it like a flat surface. They need to refer to original word Dahw and Dahwah. He who makes the night like a ball turning on the day, and the daylight like a ball turning on the darkness of the night. Those claim that earth is flat have misunderstood the meanings of Quranic verses.
verse from Surah Al-Imran (3:64) into English: Arabic Text: Translation: Say, “O People of the Book! Come to a common word between us and you: that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah.” Then if they turn away, say, “Bear witness that we are Muslims.” This verse invites the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) to a common ground of worshiping Allah alone and avoiding associating partners with Him.
Quran says in Surah Az-Zumar (39:5): “He created the heavens and the earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night…” The word used for “wraps” (كَوَّرَ) comes from the Arabic root that describes the wrapping of a turban, suggesting a spherical shape. Another verse often referenced is: Surah An-Nazi’at (79:30): “And after that He spread the earth (dahaha).” The term “dahaha” can imply spreading, but it is also related to the word “dahiyah,” which refers to an ostrich egg, hinting at an oblong or spherical shape. So it clearly showed that 1400 years ago Allah says in the Quran that the earth is spherical like an ostrich’s egg. Alhamdulillah Quran is the last revelation of our almighty Allah.
Verse 79:30 (Surah An-Nazi'at): This verse is often translated as, "And after that te spread the earth (like a carpet)." The Arabic word used here is "dahāhã," which some interpreters suggest means "spread out'" or "made expansive." Interestingly, " dahāhã" is sometimes connected to the Arabic word for an ostrich egg, which has led some scholars to argue that this could imply a spherical or oval shape.

in Sura 79, verse 30. The Arabic word used to describe the Earth in this verse is daḥāhā ( دَحَاهَا ), which is typically translated as “egg-shaped” or “spread.” [79:30] He made the earth egg-shaped. وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
When islamic scholars quotes a verse that he claims declares the earth is shaped like an egg, so lets take a really close look at that. The claim here is that 79:30 reads “And we have made the earth egg shaped”, but does it? Nope, it does not, his claimed translation is the true dishonesty here, the quran says no such thing. Arabic: والارض بعد ذلك دحاها Transliteration: Waal-arda baAAda thalika dahaha Literal: And the earth/Planet Earth after that He blew and stretched/spread it. What is going on here is that a couple of translations have attempted to translate the word dahaha to mean made egg-shaped or like an ‘ostrich egg’, but that is wrong. The attempt to justify this is to claim that the root word for dahaha is duhiya which means ostrich egg, but even that is not correct either. In Arabic, each word must be derived from its root. The root usually consists of three letters that can be manipulated, by adding vowels, prefixes and suffixes in order to produce different words with different meanings. For example, “ka-ta-ba” (to write) is the root for many words such as kitab (book), maktaba (library), katib (author), maktoob (written), kitabat (writings), etc… Let’s now take the word mentioned to mean egg of an ostrich, “Duhiya”. This word is not a root. It is a noun and is derived from “da-ha-wa”, the same root that the verb “dahaha” comes from. Furthermore, Duhiya does not even mean the egg of an ostrich. To daha the earth means to spread it out, there is no egg shape here at all, and that is why most good translations correctly render it as stretched or spread. We are right back to a flat earth once again. 15:19 And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance. 20:53 He Who has, made for you the earth like a carpet spread out; has enabled you to go about therein by roads (and channels); and has sent down water from the sky.” With it have We produced diverse pairs of plants each separate from the others. 43:10 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 50:7 And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs).. - Qur'an, Explanation: In the Quran, the Arabic word "aqtar" [ أَقْطَارِ ] is used to describe the entire region of the Earth. This term means zones, regions, and diameters. The mention of diameter in this context strongly suggests that the Earth is ball-shaped according to the Quran.
"I love how you explain this concept! I actually run a small channel where I discuss topics related to English Literature, and this video has given me some cool ideas to expand on."
In the Quran, Surah An-Nazi’at (79:30) uses the Arabic word “dahaha,” which has been interpreted by some modern scholars to suggest that the Earth is egg-shaped. The term “dahaha” can mean “spread out” or “expanded,” but it also carries the connotation of an ostrich egg, which is slightly oblate, resembling the Earth’s shape. This interpretation aligns with the understanding that the Earth is not a perfect sphere but an oblate spheroid, slightly flattened at the poles and bulging at the equator12.
The Qur'an does not explicitly describe the Earth as spherical. However, there are verses that have been interpreted to suggest a more nuanced understanding of the Earth's shape. Some interpretations of Qur'anic verses indicate a conception of the Earth that could align with a spherical shape, although traditional readings often describe it in terms that can be understood as flat or spread out. For example, verses such as *Qur'an 79:30* refer to the Earth as being "spread out" (or "expanse" in some translations), which some classical commentators understood to mean it is flat. However, other scholars and modern interpretations argue that these descriptions could be compatible with the concept of a spherical Earth, especially when considering the broader context of the Qur'anic cosmology and subsequent scientific understanding. The term **"dahāhā"** appears in the Qur'an in Surah An-Nazi'at (79:30), where it is used in the context of describing the Earth's shape. The verse in Arabic reads: **"وَالأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا"**, which is often translated as **"And the Earth, He spread it out"** or **"He made the Earth egg-shaped"** depending on the translation. The interpretation of **"dahāhā"** as **"ostrich egg"** comes from a historical and linguistic analysis of the term. The word **"dahāhā"** is derived from the root **"dahā"**, which means "to spread out" or "to flatten." In classical Arabic, **"dahā"** can imply the act of spreading or extending something flat. The interpretation of **"dahāhā"** as "ostrich egg" comes from a specific historical interpretation, wherein some classical commentators linked **"dahāhā"** to the appearance of an ostrich egg. However, this interpretation is less common and debated. The primary linguistic and contextual meaning of **"dahā"** suggests the action of spreading or flattening, which aligns with the idea of the Earth being spread out. Modern interpretations and translations generally favor the understanding of **"dahāhā"** as referring to the Earth being spread out or made to resemble a wide, flat surface, rather than specifically an ostrich egg. This interpretation is supported by the broader context of Qur'anic descriptions and classical Arabic usage. The interpretation of Qur'anic verses regarding the Earth's shape has evolved over time, reflecting both historical and contemporary understandings. @@arahul4045The Quran mentions the spherical shape of the Earth in several verses: 1. Surah An-Naziat, Verse 30: "وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا" "And after that He spread the earth."[3] The word "دَحَاهَا" (dahaha) implies the Earth's spherical shape. 2. Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 5: "خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ" "He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night..."[3] The word "يُكَوِّرُ" (yukawwiru) means "to make spherical" or "to wrap", indicating the Earth's spherical shape. 3. Surah Ar-Rahman, Verse 33: "يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ تَنْفُذُوا مِنْ أَقْطَارِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوا" "O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass."[3] The word "أَقْطَارِ" (aqtari) means "regions" or "diameters", further suggesting the Earth's spherical shape. ## Hadith on the Spherical Shape of the Earth In addition to the Quranic verses, there are also hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) that support the spherical shape of the Earth: Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS) said: "It is upon you that you should have the foundation of your deeds on your logical East and West. And all this is said on the basis of the earth being spherical."[2] This hadith clearly states that the Earth is spherical, and one should base their actions on the logical East and West according to their location on the Earth.
The Matsya Purana describes the Earth as a flat disc, with the Sun, Moon, and stars moving above it (Matsya Purana 104.1-5). Similarly, the Bhagavata Purana describes the Earth as a flat plane, with the mountains and oceans forming its boundaries (Bhagavata Purana 5.20.38-40) 😂🤡

(Quran 36:38) This verse emphasizes that the sun moves according to a divine decree and has a set course determined by Allah.

all copy paste from previous text ,,Today, some Islamic scholars claim that Islamic scriptures and their first audiences were fully aware of the spherical shape of the Earth and that this was also a consensus view of early scholars. Evidence does not support any of these claims, despite oft-cited statements from the works of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Hazm (see below). Critics note that clear descriptions and assumptions made in the Qur'an, hadith, tafsirs, and writings of early Islamic scholars demonstrate that Muhammad and his companions did not know the Earth was spherical but in fact held it to be flat and disk like, and this is the framework within which the Qur'an operates. The later idea that Islamic scriptures themselves indicated a spherical Earth was a creative act of reinterpretation. Similarly, attempts to explain Quranic verses about the earth only in terms of local flatness at a human level are often challenged by critics using contextual arguments.

The shape of the Earth is often compared to an ostrich's egg, which is slightly oblong rather than perfectly spherical. This interpretation is supported by the Quran in 12:2812:2811:32 verse: **Arabic:** وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا **English:** "And after that He spread the earth." (Surah An-Nazi'at 79:30) The term "دَحَاهَا" (dahaha) can be interpreted as "spread out," but it also carries the connotation of making something round or egg-shaped, similar to an ostrich's egg.
The shape of an ostrich egg is PROLATE SPHEROID i.e. the polar radius is greater than the equatorial radius. The Earth, however, is an OBLATE SPHEROID i.e. the equatorial radius is greater than the polar radius. So what Sura 79 verse 30 says is scientifically inaccurate. In fact, it is a scientific blunder.

Some scholars argue that this implies an oval or rounded shape, as the shape of an ostrich egg is roughly spherical. ### 2. **Surah Az-Zumar (39:5)** - **"He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night."** - The word "yukawwiru" (يُكَوِّرُ), translated as "wraps," comes from the root word meaning to coil or wind something around, like a turban. This description of the night and day wrapping around each other suggests the Earth's rotation and its round shape. ### 3. **Surah Luqman (**31:29**)** - **"Do you not see that Allah causes the night to enter the day and causes the day to enter the night?"** - This verse speaks about the gradual merging of day into night and vice versa, which is consistent with the way light behaves on a spherical Earth as it rotates. ### 4. **Surah Ash-Shams (91:1-2)** - **"By the sun and its brightness, and by the moon when it follows it."** - The interplay between the sun, moon, and Earth's movements, alluded to in these verses, reflects the reality of a spherical Earth within a solar system. ### 5. **Surah Al-Anbiya (**21:33**)** - **"And it is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming."** - This verse refers to celestial bodies moving in orbits. The Earth’s orbit around the Sun and the Moon’s orbit around the Earth are consistent with a heliocentric model that requires the Earth to be spherical. While these verses are open to interpretation, many scholars and commentators have suggested that they are compatible with the modern understanding of the Earth's roundness. Surah An-Nazi'at (79:30) from the Quran is translated as follows: **Arabic:** وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا **Transliteration:** "Wal-Arda ba‘da dhālika dahāhā" **Translation (approximate):** "And after that, He spread the earth." This verse speaks about how Allah shaped and spread the earth after creating the heavens. Some interpretations describe this as a reference to the formation and expansion of the earth. The verb "dahāhā" has been interpreted as meaning "spread out" or "shaped like an egg," emphasizing the earth's shape and expansion.
A common misconception is that Muslims believe in a flat Earth, but this is not supported by Islamic teachings. The Qur'an contains verses that suggest a spherical Earth. For example, in Surah Al-Nazi'at (79:30), the term "dahaha" is used, which can be interpreted to mean "spread out" or "shaped like an egg," hinting at an oval or spherical form. Additionally, Surah Az-Zumar (39:5) refers to the alternation of night and day, implying the Earth's rotation, which wouldn't be possible on a flat surface. These verses indicate a profound understanding of the Earth's shape, aligning more with modern scientific views than with the flat Earth theory.

Correction... You can keep debating as much as you want, no no it means this or it means egg shaped. you can find discussions on this in Tafsir by scholars like Ibn Kathir, Al-Qurtubi, or modern Islamic scholars in online libraries and forums that study the Quran. Don't try to justify everything written in the Quran And start accepting that yes, this is wrong, and we should learn from it and move forward
@@ShivayAgnihotri-ie1pqlol Here are some Quranic verses that can be interpreted as suggesting the Earth is spherical or rounded: 1. *Quran 39:5*: "He created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): He makes the Night overlap the Day, and the Day overlap the Night." (This verse suggests a curved surface, allowing day and night to overlap.) 2. *Quran 31:10*: "And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance." (The word "dahaha" can imply expansion or stretching, suggesting a curved surface.) 3. *Quran 79:30*: "And after that He spread the earth, And produced therefrom its water and its pasture." (The word "dahaha" again implies expansion or stretching.) 4. *Quran 51:47*: "And it is We who have built the universe with (our creative) power, and We are expanding it." (This verse describes the universe's expansion, which could imply a spherical shape.) 5. *Quran 36:40*: "It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They float, each in an orbit." (This verse describes celestial bodies moving in orbits, which could suggest a spherical Earth.) 6. *Quran 21:33*: "And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all (heavenly bodies) swim along, each in its orbit." (Similar to the previous verse, this describes celestial bodies moving in orbits.) Keep in mind that these interpretations are based on modern scientific understanding and may not have been explicitly understood during the time of revelation. ❤🎉 Lol 😢
LMAOOOOO this lie that zakir nalayak told u idiots who took from a youtuber? cite any classical scholars like qurtubi, jalalyn or better yet ibn kathir. zakir cant even speak arabic.
Quran never said that the earth is flat as some ignorant claim, on the contrary, Quran says وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ ٣٠ ( Then after that He made the earth like an egg) (79:30) Dawah دحوة means in Arabic an egg. Some people translate this verse wrongly claiming that it means spreading it like a flat surface. They need to refer to original word Dahw and Dahwah. يكور الليل على النهار ويكور النهار We also read in Quran على الليل :He who makes the night like a ball turning on the day, and daylight like a ball turning on the darkness of the night (39:5 Quran). Those claim that earth is flat have misunderstood the meanings of Quranic verses

In Sura 39, verse 5 of the Quran, it states: [39:5] He created the heavens and the earth truthfully. He rolls the night over the day, and rolls the day over the night. He committed the sun and the moon, each running for a finite period. Absolutely, He is the Almighty, the Forgiving. وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا Below is a word-by-word breakdown of the verse:
So the shape of the earth is like the egg of an ostrich and if you analyse the shape of the egg of an ostrich it too is geospherical in shape So here what I want to tell you further, Al-Qur’an (Koran) is being maintained its originality for almost 1.500 years, not even one SINGLE WORD, ONE SINGLE WORD is changed nor corrupted. People can translate it in any language they like, even we can find the English translation in many versions. But remember, “translations can never ever ever replace the original transcript”. If you are not moslem, then try to take a look at your hollybook, is it original from God? or is it even original from the beginning? has it been corrupted, added or changed? Please try figure it out. And almost 1.500 years ago, Al-Qur’an has already stated 2:79 ; فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَابَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ لِيَشْتَرُوا بِهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لَهُمْ مِمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌ لَهُمْ مِمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ “Woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say: "This is from Allah," so that they may sell it for a petty price! Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they have earned”. Hope this answers the question, hope Allah SWT, THE ONLY REAL GOD gives you hidayah.

Very good research! You have rightly referred the verse of Quran. A little more about it is as follows: Chapter An-Nazi'at (79), Verse: 30 وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا In English it is translated: “And after that, the earth: wide has He spread its expanse” Amazingly, the word “دَحَاهَا” can be translated: ”extended in egg shape.” So the translation can be: “And the earth, moreover, hath he extended in egg shape.” More amazingly, the word “دَحَا” (dahaa) is derived from word “دحية” (duhyah) wich specifically means ”egg of ostrich” (not just any egg) which closely resembles the earth shape more than any other kind of egg shape.
What about the contradiction that says the sun and moon revolve around the earth. And then just say the sun set in the black mud. And every day rises a newsun.
Mentioned in Quran 18:86. “He(Dhul Qarnain) found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people”. Critics take the words sun sets in the muddy spring out of context. The above Quran verse is about the vision of Dhul Qarnain. Notice the words “he found” behind “setting in a spring of dark mud" in the English translation. The word find in English means perceive by chance or unexpectedly. He found sun setting in muddy water strange because he never came to such place before. Dhul Qarnain was actually seeing a muddy water in front of him and sun was setting in it. The arabic word for find is wajada and this arabic word is present in the above quran verse . The word wajada meaning he found is used by today's arabic speakers . It was also used in classical (old) arabic. Imagine you went to a sea and you find sun setting in water. When you tell your friends that you found the sun setting in water you are talking about your perception /vision/experience and not a fact. Quran and the sun: Surah 18 (Al-Kahf): This chapter contains verses about the story of Dhul-Qarnayn, who is described as reaching the "setting place of the sun" where it sets in a muddy spring. Interpretation: Most Islamic scholars interpret this as a poetic description of the sunset, not a literal explanation of where the sun goes at night. No specific mention of a new sun: The Quran does not explicitly say that a new sun rises each day.
Quran is the central religious text of Islam. It also gives a generalised knowledge of the universe. This is not a scientific research journal to give you the calculated values of radius or circumference of earth. And this knowledge was imparted almost 1450 years. However, if you are really interested in knowing about the Quran, I suggest you to go through the book "The Bible, Quran and Science" authored by the famous scientist Maurice Buccailey.

Ancient Hindu Knowledge of the Earth's Spherical Nature
To prove that ancient Hindu scholars recognized Earth's spherical nature before the Greeks, I tried to present the following points:
1. Surya Siddhanta (circa 3000 BCE):
- This ancient Hindu text states that the Earth’s circumference is 4,967 yojanas, which converts to about 39,736 km. Remarkably, this is very close to the modern value of 40,075 km, showcasing early advanced knowledge of Earth's dimensions.
2. Aryabhata (499 CE):
- Aryabhata declared Earth as spherical and explained its rotation, which causes the apparent movement of stars. He accurately calculated the sidereal day as 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.1 seconds, almost identical to modern values.
3. Brahmagupta (598-668 CE):
- Brahmagupta contributed to the understanding of gravity, explaining that objects fall due to an attractive force and further emphasized that Earth is round.
4. Aryabhata’s Eclipse Predictions:
- Aryabhata accurately predicted solar and lunar eclipses, a feat only possible with an understanding of Earth, Sun, and Moon as spherical bodies.
5. Navagraha and Hindu Astronomy:
- Hindu models of planetary orbits (Navagraha) implied a spherical Earth, as these celestial models depended on precise geometric calculations, which align with the understanding of a round Earth.
Counter-Arguments and Rebuttals
- While Greek astronomers such as Pythagoras, Aristotle, and Eratosthenes were influential, Surya Siddhanta’s earlier origin shows that similar knowledge existed in India long before Greek scholars.
Conclusion
While both Indian and Greek contributions are significant, ancient Hindu texts provided scientific proof of Earth's spherical nature earlier than the Greeks. The precise calculations in the Surya Siddhanta and works of Aryabhata offer undeniable evidence of advanced knowledge in ancient India.
This evidence supports the argument that Hindu scholars understood Earth's spherical shape centuries before Greek astronomers made similar discoveries.

The Arabic word used to describe the Earth in this verse is daḥāhā ( دَحَاهَا ), which is typically translated as “egg-shaped” or “spread.”
[79:30] He made the earth egg-shaped.
وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ ۗ كُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
Hindi Translation:
"वह वही है जिसने रात और दिन, सूर्य और चाँद को बनाया। सभी एक कक्ष में तैर रहे हैं।"
Explanation:
This verse describes celestial bodies as moving in their orbits, which aligns with a spherical Earth model where such movements can be observed due to the Earth's round shape.

Chapter An-Nazi'at (79), Verse: 30 وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
In English it is translated: “And after that, the earth: wide has He spread its expanse”
amazingly, the word “دَحَاهَا” can also be translated: ”extended in egg shape.”
so the translation can be: “And the earth, moreover, hath he extended in egg shape.”
either way, both translations are correct.
more amazingly, the word “دَحَا” (dahaa) is derived from word “دحية” (duhyah) wich specifically means ”egg of ostrich” (not just any egg).
Correct 💯
100% correct
❤❤❤
Yeah man
So according to that earth is oval 👉🏻🌍👈🏻👉🏻🥚👈🏻
"And after that He spread the earth" (Qur'an, 79:30).
The Arabic word used here for "spread" is "dahāhā" (دحاها), which can be traced back to the root "dahā," meaning to shape something like an egg or to expand it. This word is related to the shape of an ostrich's egg in particular, which has led some interpreters to see it as a reference to the earth being slightly oval or oblate in shape, similar to the actual shape of the Earth (which is not a perfect sphere but slightly flattened at the poles and bulging at the equator).
Key Points about the Ostrich Egg Interpretation:
Dahāhā and Egg Shape: The reference to the ostrich egg comes from the interpretation of the word "dahāhā," which some scholars argue points to an oval or egg-like shape.
Why we think like this is because in this ayah, Allah (SWT) is talking about the earth and then we just think that dahaha is egg , but if we keep it in the sentence properly, it will sound like
"And after that he [egg] the earth"
or smth which is utterly not meaningful...
You can spread the surface of the balloon by filling air in it.
Please refer to these verses from the Quran for better understanding and please refer to the tafasirs from the not the modern but authentic ulamas ,

Quran says in
Surah Az-Zumar (39:5):
“He created the heavens and the earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night…”
The word used for “wraps” (كَوَّرَ) comes from the Arabic root that describes the wrapping of a turban, suggesting a spherical shape.
Another verse often referenced is:
Surah An-Nazi’at (79:30):
“And after that He spread the earth (dahaha).”
The term “dahaha” can imply spreading, but it is also related to the word “dahiyah,” which refers to an ostrich egg, hinting at an oblong or spherical shape.

My parents whenever I said that I'm not lying:- " Saare jhoothe khud ko saccha hi bolte hai"
According to the Quran, the Earth is described as being:
1. "Dahaha" (دَحَاهَا) - spread out or expanded (Quran 51:48, 79:30)
2. "Mahiyya" (مَحِيَّة) - an egg-shaped or oval body (Quran 39:5)
3. "Sukkhar" (سُكَّر) - a sphere or a ball (Quran 31:10)
Hope you understood!

😂😂madarsachap knowledge

The word "أَقْطَارِ" (aqtari) means "regions" or "diameters", further suggesting the Earth's spherical shape.
## Hadith on the Spherical Shape of the Earth
In addition to the Quranic verses, there are also hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) that support the spherical shape of the Earth:
Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS) said:
"It is upon you that you should have the foundation of your deeds on your logical East and West. And all this is said on the basis of the earth being spherical."[2]
This hadith clearly states that the Earth is spherical, and one should base their actions on the logical East and West according to their location on the Earth.

all copy paste from previous text ,,Today, some Islamic scholars claim that Islamic scriptures and their first audiences were fully aware of the spherical shape of the Earth and that this was also a consensus view of early scholars.

The shape of the Earth is often compared to an ostrich's egg, which is slightly oblong rather than perfectly spherical. This interpretation is supported by the Quran in 12:28 12:28 11:32 verse:
**Arabic:**
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
**English:**
"And after that He spread the earth." (Surah An-Nazi'at 79:30)
The term "دَحَاهَا" (dahaha) can be interpreted as "spread out," but it also carries the connotation of making something round or egg-shaped, similar to an ostrich's egg.
❤
The shape of an ostrich egg is PROLATE SPHEROID i.e. the polar radius is greater than the equatorial radius. ### 1. **Surah An-Nazi'at (79:30)**
- **"And after that, He spread the earth."**
- The Arabic word used here is "dahāhā" (دَحَاهَا), which can be interpreted to mean "spread out" or "shaped like an ostrich egg." Some scholars argue that this implies an oval or rounded shape, as the shape of an ostrich egg is roughly spherical.
### 2. **Surah Az-Zumar (39:5)**
- **"He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night."**
- The word "yukawwiru" (يُكَوِّرُ), translated as "wraps," comes from the root word meaning to coil or wind something around, like a turban. This description of the night and day wrapping around each other suggests the Earth's rotation and its round shape.
### 3. **Surah Luqman (**31:29**)**
- **"Do you not see that Allah causes the night to enter the day and causes the day to enter the night?"**
- This verse speaks about the gradual merging of day into night and vice versa, which is consistent with the way light behaves on a spherical Earth as it rotates.
### 4. **Surah Ash-Shams (91:1-2)**
- **"By the sun and its brightness, and by the moon when it follows it."**
- The interplay between the sun, moon, and Earth's movements, alluded to in these verses, reflects the reality of a spherical Earth within a solar system.
### 5. **Surah Al-Anbiya (**21:33**)**
- **"And it is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming."**
- This verse refers to celestial bodies moving in orbits.

Surah An-Nazi'at (79:30) from the Quran is translated as follows:
**Arabic:**
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
**Transliteration:**
"Wal-Arda ba‘da dhālika dahāhā"
**Translation (approximate):**
"And after that, He spread the earth."
This verse speaks about how Allah shaped and spread the earth after creating the heavens.
Hope you understood!
Right
Correction...

Hi, The Quran refers to the shape of the Earth in a way that has been interpreted by some scholars to suggest its roundness or being spread out. One of the verses often cited is from Surah An-Nazi'at (79:30), which says:
"And after that He spread the earth."
(Quran 79:30)
The Arabic word used here is "dahaha" (دحاها), which can mean "spread out" or "shaped like an egg" according to some interpretations. The word "dahaha" is derived from "dahiyah," which also refers to an ostrich egg in some linguistic contexts, leading to the interpretation that this may allude to Earth's shape as a spheroid....................

in Sura 79, verse 30. The Arabic word used to describe the Earth in this verse is daḥāhā ( دَحَاهَا ), which is typically translated as “egg-shaped” or “spread.”
[79:30] He made the earth egg-shaped.
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
You are simply justifying
You copied your text from quora
dahaha" means "to spread" or "to extend."
some examples of its usage:
* Quran 79:30: "And after that He spread (dahaha) the earth."
* Quran 20:53: "He Who has, made for you the earth like a carpet spread out (dahaha)."
* Quran 15:19: "And the earth We have spread out (dahaha) (like a carpet)."

Here are some Quranic verses that can be interpreted as suggesting the Earth is spherical or rounded:
1. *Quran 39:5*: "He created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): He makes the Night overlap the Day, and the Day overlap the Night." (This verse suggests a curved surface, allowing day and night to overlap.)
2. *Quran 31:10*: "And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance." (The word "dahaha" can imply expansion or stretching, suggesting a curved surface.)
3. *Quran 79:30*: "And after that He spread the earth, And produced therefrom its water and its pasture." (The word "dahaha" again implies expansion or stretching.)
4. *Quran 51:47*: "And it is We who have built the universe with (our creative) power, and We are expanding it." (This verse describes the universe's expansion, which could imply a spherical shape.)
5. *Quran 36:40*: "It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They float, each in an orbit." (This verse describes celestial bodies moving in orbits, which could suggest a spherical Earth.)
6. *Quran 21:33*: "And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all (heavenly bodies) swim along, each in its orbit." (Similar to the previous verse, this describes celestial bodies moving in orbits.)
Keep in mind that these interpretations are based on modern scientific understanding and may not have been explicitly understood during the time of revelation. ❤🎉

يكور الليل على النهار ويكور النهار We also read in Quran
على الليل :He who makes the night like a ball turning on the day, and daylight like a ball turning on the darkness of the night (39:5 Quran). Those claim that earth is flat have misunderstood the meanings of Quranic verses
Quran also claimed moon was sliced into 2 parts then joined again.
After that they said before qayamat it will be divided into 2 parts 😂

In Sura 39, verse 5 of the Quran, it states:
[39:5] He created the heavens and the earth truthfully. He rolls the night over the day, and rolls the day over the night. He committed the sun and the moon, each running for a finite period. Absolutely, He is the Almighty, the Forgiving.
Below is a word-by-word breakdown of the verse:
When Mike described public schools as 'programming centres'...This man will cross all limits😑
4:40 salute to all their keen observations which is missing in today's generation
So the shape of the earth is like the egg of an ostrich and if you analyse the shape of the egg of an ostrich it too is geospherical in shape

So here what I want to tell you further, Al-Qur’an (Koran) is being maintained its originality for almost 1.500 years, not even one SINGLE WORD, ONE SINGLE WORD is changed nor corrupted.
And almost 1.500 years ago, Al-Qur’an has already stated 2:79 ;
“Woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say: "This is from Allah," so that they may sell it for a petty price! Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they have earned”.
Hope this answers the question, hope Allah SWT, THE ONLY REAL GOD gives you hidayah.

Chapter An-Nazi'at (79), Verse: 30 وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
In English it is translated: “And after that, the earth: wide has He spread its expanse”

More amazingly, the word “دَحَا” (dahaa) is derived from word “دحية” (duhyah) wich specifically means ”egg of ostrich” (not just any egg) which closely resembles the earth shape more than any other kind of egg shape.
😮😮
