Great to see a Black Series painting tutorial without an airbrush! Not everyone can drop the cash for it (even if it is a good investment) so I really appreciate the tutorial using paintbrushes. Thank you so much!
Ever seen how they do it at hasbro? It's a closely guarded secret but I took a tour once in Indonesia. They print the paint ap on a roll and each one has 100 eyes or lines for a uniform on this thin plastic. They have a fixture that peels back the backer and they stick the head in an area where it's cut out for a head...it aligns the whole thing and they push a foot pedal and it smashes the paint on the face... they hold a plastic sheet over it and rub it down to make sure it's on there and throw it on a conveyor in the middle. It's awesome.
Thank you for this tutorial! I usually repaint dolls buy I'm going to try doing a realistic obi wan 1/6 head paint for my own clone commander version of him. I hope it comes out as good as I'm imaging. Thank you again he looks so much better!!
Have used this video many times was a big help I have found with more pinkish tone skin like padme palid flesh citadel small dry prush really brings that softer female tone
Great job and it looks great! My black series Bespin Han Solo's white shirt needs a touch up. What kinds of paints and brush should I use? I'm not sure the types of paints Hasbro uses for their figures. Any help would be appreciated
Everyone seems to forget that Obi-wan in addition to his Jedi braids (like Anakin in episode 2) also has a ponytail on the back of his head great paint work though!
What Pens did you use? I have Black Mitusbishi line Pens but i'm having difficulty finding Brown Pens {or even Blue} at a reasonable price.

Nice tutorial! Let me ask you, usually how long to let it dry between layers? Also I saw some people applying mate varnish between the layers of paint. Is that good or not? Thanks!
What do you use to paint lips of darker skin tones also what pen did u use for the eyebrows and eyes ? I'm currently making my own action figure and that would help so much
Nice work. Thanks for sharing. Should've painted the neck and the hands too, though, to make the head skin tone match the rest of his exposed body parts. IMO.
Use the same technique for dry brushing but instead of a messed up paint brush use a new/semi used brush an lightly brush it onto the cast. No need to use alot of force as one would use for drybrushing say on foam. Hope that helps a bit.
Oftentimes for customs people combine Black Series and Marvel Legends so yes I'd assume you can do so without modification for most figures. I use a Marvel Legends Adam Warlock head (repainted) on a Kylo Ren body no problem to make a Darth Caedus/Jacen Solo.
Do you use any kind of primer? Or is it not really needed with these kind of paints? I've had trouble painting on figures with acrylic paints being too slick (not adhereing well) to the plastic. I've just tried applying the paint to the head. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if you’ll respond but we’re all the brushes you used? I’m using this as a guide for a Mando head I’m doing for the first time.

How are you doing the dry brushing without leaving line marks with the flayed one?

what color do you use for the hair
You can use Citadel Dryad Bark or Vallejo Chocolate Brown. After you get the base coat on the hair you can lightly dry brush some highlights in it.

Army Painter Barbarian Flesh or Grey
What about people with darker skin?
