Also always thought she did this as a way to gauge how they answer when they’re telling the truth vs what they’re telling her when it matters to see if they’re lying
That lady put in some proper work to track down who claimed her prize, documenting all conversations with the guy then putting all the information together, so that everything could be followed clearly and concisely.
Judge Judy smiling is definitely a delightful sight. ☺ This couple sure came to court organised. I love how they take turns to answer questions and don't frustrate JJ. Defendant spoke once and I knew he was a thief.
Had I stolen someone's lottery ticket I would not have had the NERVE to be on TV to answer for it! ...I would have said, 'Look, I'm a filthy crook and I got caught, so here's your money - no Judge Judy, PLEASE!"
I knew the instant JJ made small talk with the plaintiff and had that smile on her face that the case was over. Remember, JJ has 90% of the information for these cases, which are well investigated by her staff, and the "let me see this and that" are just for show.
Actually both the defendant and the plaintiff have to submit a written complaint to the court. This is read and investigated by the judge or his/her staff prior to the case. This is how courts work, even genuine ones? The judge is usually well informed before the case begins. The show me this, show me that is to verify the complaints made
And its the statement the plaintiffs and defendants submit prior. As an experienced judge you read both submissions and see what seems to make sense. And what details match on either side.
I love Judge Judy man. She is honest, straightforward and doesnt take shit from anybody. I'd come home everyday from school just to watch her show, and I'm a big fan of her. And I'm glad she saw right through this case as she does with every case, and I like it when she smiles it makes me smile myself. For me, watching her show gives me lessons in the future aswell for me to be succesful. And she is also funny, that it makes me laugh. Whenever I go through depression, Judge Judy litterally is the cure for depression believe it or not. Everytime she meets fans, she is so nice and sweet to them. Judge Judy never gets mad at people herself, shes just standing her ground. I honestly wish there was more judges like her, you never talk back to her she will snap you in half if you even try.
I really like her honest answers because I was in something exactly like that but I was the one that step up so the kids didn't get taken and they also did not have rules and talk any way they wanted. And I tried to tell the dad to correct it and my a snaer was to something were because of their mom .
Exactly I would never send anything in the mail, but now the MA lottery will let you claim thru their app up to $5000 so you can avoid nightmares like this
They get paid by the show to be flown out and appear in JJ's court. They still have to abide by her ruling, but a chance to be on TV and getting paid to do so often overrules any feelings of humiliation on their part. What the show pays them is oftentimes more than they have to pay if JJ rules against them. Win-win.
I’m sure Judge Judy just has the best day ever when people come to her courthouse EXTREMELY prepared. The plaintiffs are just so smooth and responsible!🥰🥰🥰
The father-in-law didn't want to sign the ticket and hand it in in fear of losing child support. Translation: He didn't want to get into trouble with a stolen ticket.
As JJ says she went to school a lot of years and she is not stupid. She knows how to get to the bottom of these cases. Love this woman. I have learned so much about the law and human nature from watching her. 💕
Something similar happened to me when my old job sent my w2 to an old address and the person who was now living at my old address used my w2 info to claim my unemployment. People will open other peoples mail, it's crazy to me....I always RTS or shred it
I'm sure everyone is already aware of this. The drawn numbers listed on the ticket are really only there for the player, and it makes easier to check. When you cash them in, then it's the 16-18 digit number that the lottery commission, or department, depending on the state, that's what validates and tracks the ticket from then on.
Now I KNOW this is a rent-a-crowd audience! Just been binge-watching these Judge Judy videos and seen that dollar-store Angelina Jolie character in another video
This is a complicated one! I think Mr Richard stole the ticket, but I don't know how he was able to intercept it...He must of know the bartender...🤔 of course this is all speculations without seeing part 2..
I am still trying to figure out how the defendant had access to the ticket if the plaintiffs put it in the mailbox to send to the headquarters? Was he lurking around their house waiting for them to mail the ticket
I love how the people say something then the producer puts it under the name, like ‘we got seven out of eight number’ Then they like ‘claims to hit seven out of eight numbers’
I'm so excited to see the end because I hope there's a twist. Plaintiffs look well-put together. Defendants look like they steal your puppy for a reward. BUT LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING. I HOPE I"M PROVEN WRONG.
I grew up in Sandy. My wife left her purse in McDonalds next to Safeway once in the early 90's. It was gone by the time we got back. One of the items in her purse were James Taylor tickets. They were a gift and we had 'soft copies' of the tickets so were able to go. The thieves arrived and had just about the same story...my dad gave them to me...called his dad and he said he bought them from a guy in front of Safeway... This town has really gone downhill over the past 4 decades...even though it's still 'small town USA'! .................... Dishonorable Father-in-law!!!!
This one and the one where the plantiff was talking about the contents of her stolen wallet and the defendants cut in to say that a specific item wasnt in there. IMMEDIATE judgment xD
When Powerball first started in Missouri I bought a ticket. I didn’t understand how it worked. I had 5 numbers and gave to the cashier and she said that I didn’t win and kept the ticket. I didn’t get a dime. I went back another day and told her that I know now what she did.

Judge Judy you are no nonsense, fair, and funny. I wish all judges were straight forward. Neal
@@berrylee6787 why lie and say your name is Neal? It’s clearly Berry Lee
@@Filzzy B. Neal Lee, any other silly questions ? Lol. Neal
@@berrylee6787 Thank you Neal. Very cool.
I love when Judge Judy asks obscure questions that seem to make no sense to me. That's when I know she's laying down her traps lol.
So true lol. She's thinking 5 steps ahead.
That’s my favorite part too. 🪤
Also always thought she did this as a way to gauge how they answer when they’re telling the truth vs what they’re telling her when it matters to see if they’re lying
Yes!! All of the so called smart-asses who think they're her match, never fail to fall right down the rabbit hole! LOL!!
Lol!
this couple seems to be well prepared in advance for the courtroom. and courteous, too.
@Ryder Houston meaning that rarely happens and it’s refreshing to see!!
They were on check with everything.
They probably watch JJ and know what she expects
Very smart couple
That lady put in some proper work to track down who claimed her prize, documenting all conversations with the guy then putting all the information together, so that everything could be followed clearly and concisely.
Judge Judy smiling is definitely a delightful sight. ☺
This couple sure came to court organised. I love how they take turns to answer questions and don't frustrate JJ.
Defendant spoke once and I knew he was a thief.
I think JJ’s smiles are frightening.
Frightening if guilty, delighted if innocent;)
Twaidled twaice, thenne faurted

Filthy crooks tend to not be too smart. 😂
The show pays them. Thats the only the reason he came lol
I knew the instant JJ made small talk with the plaintiff and had that smile on her face that the case was over. Remember, JJ has 90% of the information for these cases, which are well investigated by her staff, and the "let me see this and that" are just for show.
JJ also watches hallway camera before trial to size up litigants!!

Once I heard the couple talk and saw how polite and prepared they were.. I already knew the defendant was up to no good lol.

The second he said he didn’t wanna sign the lottery ticket because of child support it was over for him in my books
I wouldn’t neither if I was him lol.
My mouth dropped when he said that 😭😭 he owes and still trying to avoid
I was like 🙄😒🥱🚩🚩the audacity
I love it when they come onto the show, admit they committed a crime, and then get grumpy when JJ calls them out on it. Lol.
Anything over $600 I claim in person at the lottery headquarters. I don’t trust anyone.
ANYONE , idk why they didn’t send it straight to lottery hdqtrs tho ?
Exactly I would never send anything in the mail, but now the MA lottery will let you claim thru their app up to $5000 so you can avoid nightmares like this
Idk how they claimed over $600 by mail, I thought $601 and over are mandatory that you claim in person
Maxine F, I agree. I'd sign that ticket and guard it in my sock until I got to Lottery HQ in person the next day!
@@honeylamour1 YES YOU CAN CLAIM IT IN PERSON BUT ANYTHING OVER 50,000$ IT GOES TO THE LOTTERY COMMISSION AND THEY TAKE THEIR HALF FOR TAXES
Love when folks are organized and prepared
I’m nervous for this man. Once the judge goes “You never know where I’m gonna go” I’m dismissing my own case. Nvm, Miss Judge. ✌🏾

LMFAOOOOOOOOOO
😂 RIGHT! Just go ahead and show yourself out!

Yes broke and they get compensated for being on the show. Free room and board.
@@chai_burns A small amount of money and being humiliated in front of the world doesn't sound like a good deal to me. Id have to pass lol
@@chai_burns along with that, the show pays for whatever the judgment is. So the $1750 isn’t coming out of the defendant’s pockets.

I was just thinking that!! Like man she looks almost proud! 🥰
im officially addicted to judge judy clips....thanks youtube
They came prepared I love it. Especially when comes to money
The father-in-law didn't want to sign the ticket and hand it in in fear of losing child support.

Wow JJ was in a great mood! She must have liked the plantiffs too to make small talk and smile during the case.
Right
She knew when she came out there her only job that day, was to HUMILIATE the thief. #Bullseye
She really has a pretty smile too.
It’s always nice when Jj smiles
The glare Judge Judy gives the defendant 😂
ALWAYS sign the back of the ticket, even before you know you won!
Judge Judy is and always will be a straight forward judge. We need more judges like her
She’s such a badass. She even told him she was trapping him and he still went for it.
The couple seems really open and honest people from the start :)
Sounds like he stole their mail somehow.
If that’s the case, then he really made a mistake coming on the show; that is a federal crime.
I hate thieves 🤦🏾♀️
JJ has a smile on her dial with the plaintiffs..thinking she must be a bit of a gambler🤑
This is my fav episode of Judge Judy EVER.

The way Judy smiles at the Plaintiffs, you know they’re gonna win.
One of my favorite cases and the plaintiffs are perfect examples of how to behave in court!

I spray it with letter perfume to add to the theatrics (because I live for the drama darlings), then rts that heaux.
Guy got off easy!
Should have been convicted of a felony and given five years!
It's a civil arbitration, she can only assign damages up to $5,000, not criminal penalties

How did the defendant get the ticket and why wasn't it signed?
Well prepared plaintiffs, every evidence they had to offer was helpful and judge Judy loved to see it 💖
🤣🤣🤣🤣 JUDY READY TO LIGHT THE DEFANDANTS ASS UP 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
that couple came well prepared... well done to them
This is probably one of JJ's strongest mindgame moments.
The defendant looks like he already crapped his pants
Officer Byrd is always on point

I love Judge Judy shows....watching from the Fiji islands
Smart thing to do when cashing a ticket is to sign it that way if someone steals it they won’t be about to get fully away of it.
How did the thieves come into possession of the winning ticket when the couple sent it in to the lottery commission?
The way I heard things...
"I'm afraid child-support will take it!"
Judge Judy *car screeching* Mm! * Waves up*
This is a complicated one! I think Mr Richard stole the ticket, but I don't know how he was able to intercept it...He must of know the bartender...🤔
of course this is all speculations without seeing part 2..

And this is how you come to court! They came prepared
The plaintiffs were prepared and respectful. Something tells me they’re winning this case
