This is such a helpful video! I especially like the way you did the hairlight. I also like how you take things step-by-step and show us how each component of your lighting (including the V-flats) affects things. You have such a great teaching style. I will be practicing techniques from the video this week. Thank you for the helpful education and tips!
Great video and of course a very nice voice. Could listen for hours. I tried your setting but as my studio is a bit smaller it's not so easy to place the flashes (especially the rim light) in the same way.. Probably I have to mount something on the room sealing so I can mount the flash without a stand. I couldn't see any big difference with/without the V-Flats but I will use them in the next time to control reflections. Thanks a lot for your inspirations and valuable tipps. 👍👍👍
Great video! What lens are you using? I'm going to mimic this setup and use a 85mm, a 24-70mm, and a 70-200mm on my Nikon Z9. Thanks for your wonderful and instructional videos!
Pye, great video as always, thank you for that. One question though.... I thought it's an R5 you're shooting with, didn't know they go down to ISO 50. Am I missing something? Thanks again for the awesome content. Seriously, they way you present it, makes so much sense and is so easy to understand.
I like that her deltoids are wider than pye's. She gets more buff and beautiful for every appearance. A good tutorial with a similar method to Karl Taylor showing each light in sequence.
Probably because it would have to be placed on the floor, the effect could be weak. And with light you can control the fill strength by setting the power/moving the light.

Great quick tutorial I like the subtle hair light
Thanks for detailed great tutorial. Maybe others don't but I love it.
Glad it was helpful!

I will check this channel more often. I still do some photography. I really enjoy it. Thanks for making the videos!!
Hey Pye! Thank you for breaking this down for us. Could you do a tutorial on how to make the flash and the camera "talk"?
That was a really good tutorial. He explained it so well.
Thank you for always bringing simplicity into photography. I watch your video's often. What camera and lens were you using in this video?
I know it’s an old question;but what mic set up are you using? It always sounds great.

Great video, what lens are you using? I have a 23mm 60mm & 110mm for my Fuji 100S. For my Canon EOS R I have a 50mm & 14-35mm.
if you could tell us the distance of the light from the subject that would be great, loved the video, so helpful
Nice video and setup. I tried this before, but the fill was much closer to subject (almost same distance as main light). I like your setup better.

It can be expanded to one stop below base and one stop above max ISO. Same as the 5D series.
Nice! How could I (we) accomplish this with the main light strobe and complimentary lights continuous?
Great tutorial, thank you
Really helpful video!! What material is th Vflat??
What kind of C stand do u recommend? Regards from Norway 😊
Thanks for another great tutorial!
Great job! Thanks for sharing
What F stop would you recommend for professional portraits?
Thank you for the demo - great work (as usual). But, I simply cannot see the difference in the picture with/without negative fill! Is this only me?
what camera and lens do you use thanks!
What if you did two continous lights and one flash?
Thanks
Make a tutorial about wedding photography.. about lighting tips please
My guy Pye 🙌🙌🙌
Can i mix this light with Profoto?
what lens are you using ?
Yaah..nice

What makes a portrait an “editorial” portrait vs just a portrait?
editorials tell a story - usually there is more than one.
I don’t understand why you need to turn the flashes on and off manually? Can this be done from a trigger?
Maybe it’s just personal preference……?
@@heatherk9094 It's a waste of time. And perhaps evidence of incompetence.
Because it’s a new remote, and I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the lights from the remote… so yes, evidence of incompetence 😂
@@Strravaganza who cares how he turns them on and off? Is it really that important?
@@heatherk9094 It is important for those who teach.
Nice
Why not just put silver reflector in front of model on the floor? Instead of third fill light?
Probably because it would have to be placed on the floor, the effect could be weak. And with light you can control the fill strength by setting the power/moving the light.
@@pawl_s All about control. Thanks!
But why yo tell self had to turn off the lights from the light couldn’t to just turn them off from the trigger . Just asking
aweful .... you meant awfull ... good video as always
good catch!
And YOU meant "awful".
Nice
