If you ever pay any interest on CC, they’re not for you. Treat a CC like a debit card, and have no debt on it. Even 20% cash back isn’t worth the 34% interest fee.
I mean good for you, but a credit card is just as easy as a debit card, and you get reward points. Just pay it off in full every month and there’s no down side compared to a debit card, only positives. It builds credit, you get reward points/cash back, and if it gets stolen the money isn’t taken directly from your account. Just something to consider
The cards with higher fees and interest can actually be better value it since the value of the perks are worth much more than the fees. Just make sure you can actually make use of the perks and ofc keep it paid off.
Here is my advice. If you are an traveler, I recommend the ones that give you miles and lounges. If you are a person that spends a lot on food, choose the cashbacks.
My advice Get a debit card it is far superior due to it not going into debt you actually pay the money you have so you know that if you can’t buy it well you can’t buy it but with a credit card you are using the banks money and you have to pay them pack at the end of the month so you might of spent more than what you have
Here's my tip; If you are a student, do not get a credit card. Chances are, a debit card will be more than enough for your needs. As a general rule of thumb, Only spend what you have/make.
Better advice is just not to spend money you don't have on the credit card. Treat it like your debit card, pay it off fully every month (because you didn't overspend on it), and build your credit up.
Some credit cards offer a balance transfer at 0% interest for up to 12 months, but with a 3% fee. Unless I have an upcoming project, I take the money from the balance transfer and put into a high yield savings account that earns above that 3% fee. Currently at 5.5% with one account. Rinse and repeat until rates drop.
My father who has multiple credit cards: With all the six [cards], I could simply snap my fingers, and they would all cease to exist. I call that... mercy.
I would disagree with that advice, while student can overspend using a credit card.. it’s not DONT get a credit card it’s don’t spend too MUCH with one because getting one is an important way of building credit
For anyone getting your first credit card, don’t go for a card that has annual fees. And make sure pay off the balance of each month in full fit your credit score to go higher.
nah, my advice would be treat it like a game. sign up and take advantage of things like no interest for the first year, get your perks like cash back or miles, then move onto another card when they start charging interest. this way your credit score will look better since they want to see multiple accounts anyways. just don’t carry any balances and don’t get yourself into debt. spend on things you need this way you get paid to buy groceries
@@MexicanWithaHat you dont..? getting a credit card helps your credit score whether you like it or not.. its a fact that paying it off improves your credit score which helps you get mortages and loans for the future
Tip: it may seem like credit cards are the way to go, and that credit score is important, but 80% of people who have credit cards fail to pay at the end of the month and the banks are the only ones who benefit. Debt cards can do the exact same thing, and you’ll never have to worry about going into debt because credit cards are paying for something with the banks money that you will then have to owe them back, whereas debt cards are just simply paying for something with the money that you have already earned and have to spend. Just don't get in debt and only use it on things you could buy otherwise, anyways. Only get in debt if it can't be avoided (for example if you had to buy a plane ticket because you are stranded in another country or other really rare stuff).
A great first credit card which admittedly doesn't have many perks, is the bass pro fishing card, $0 monthly and annual fees, and a decent interest rate
For those saying you don't need a credit card: 1. You clearly have never been in a financial class (here in ZA we get economy and business sciences and more). 2. It builds your credit score for if you want to take out loans in the future for ex. a house loan or car loan. 3. Debit cards are good to some degree, so still use them, but prioritize using a credit card UNLESS you can't pay off the fees every month.
I have a card and it's only perk is supermarkets, I make triple the amount of points when I buy in supermarkets. Those points can then be exchanged for money or used to buy things. Sso on a typical 300 grocery run I'm making almost 900 points
Best advice I can give is to avoid using Credit Cards. I knew some people who had them and would spoil themselves only to end up with a good sum of debt. Debits are a lot more simpler since you can only spend what you have.
If you’re a student you should not need anymore financial stress . Get a debit card and spend your own money rather than stressing about how much your paying , when you’re paying it back and the interest fee
But you shouldn’t ever spend money you don’t have, ie pay off your credit card every month. If the card as 500% interest but every perk under the sun, if you’re sure you can pay it off every month, get it
