This is one of the BABYMETAL performances I most wanted you to see. It is probably the most beautiful song along with Shine. The composers of BABYMETAL's songs don't have to wonder if the singer can sing the song, so they can give even a song like this.
At this point, it's still my absolute favorite song by these wonderful women. I would give anything to see FDTD live for myself. Oh, and CMIYC of course. Keep up the great work. Forever THE ONE 🤘🦊🤘
FDTD (From Dusk Till Dawn) is a song that was only included on the international edition of their second album, Metal Resistance, released in 2016 (“Syncopation” was included on the Japanese edition). It was performed only once at the Hollywood Palladium in 2017. And was called a “phantom song” by fans. It was performed for the first time in Japan on the third and fourth day of BABYMETAL's 10-days Budokan concert before their hiatus. I was lucky enough to attend both days of the concert. It was a tearjerker 😭
Nice reaction Johnny!🦊Johnny didn't cry, so my prediction was wrong😆 One of my favorite songs "From Dusk Till Dawn". The first time I heard it, I had goosebumps all over my body, I was so impressed and amazed by SU's vocal skills!💕
Babymetal's shows in Japan are a masterclass in stage production, their technical team are some of the best in the business. This stage as with all their others that have video on the floor use video panels specially made for use on the floor with thick Plexiglass tops over top of LED panels.
Great reaction, thanks! I think that the whole stage is a screen. When it's on, you only see their shadows projected by a spotlight at the time and no trace of a projector light on them (but I can be wrong). And you are right, seeing them live, specially in a big format show like this, is a whole experience. "FDTD" is considered a rarity for many reasons: style, vocals, language, song's release and live history, etc. Regarding the musical style, this is a rare mix of dream trance with metal. Vocally, the song starts with some of Su-metal's falsetto (not the first time we hear her doing it). But it's even more impressive when she sings those crazy notes in her head voice with full power. Lyrics are fully in English (which is still a rarity now) and never published them officially (so, the subtitles here may not be accurate). They only released it on the international version of the Metal Resistance album while the domestic (Japanese) version includes "Syncopation" instead. The song premiered live in 2017 at Hollywood Palladium in LA but they got some issues with the live footage (apparently regarding copyright, which is kinda ironic) and it wasn't performed again until 2021at the Budokan, where this footage is from. 🤘🦊
I'm pretty sure the images on the stage are CGI projection done as a post-edit. Much like a green-screen effect. Someone who was there (any show where the Blu-ray features such images) could probably tell us, otherwise OTFGK.
@@johnschultz7765 It's always a possibility... so, against my own principles, I searched for fancam footage from the 10 BABYMETAL Budokan shows and the images are visible on site.
This is my favourite song. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, and I get emotional as well. To describe my emotions, I can only paint a picture. It starts by walking the city streets at dusk. The city gets quiet as a slight rain falls. As the song nears the end, I am still walking down the quiet city streets. The ground is wet. There is a slight fog hovering above the streets, and the sun just peaks above the horizon at dawn. Every time I hear this song, this vision plays in my mind. Of all BABYMETAL songs, this one is unique among all the other diversity of BABYMETAL songs. 🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction. One of my favourites too. It is hard to imagine someone else doing a cover of this song. There are no official lyrics and we see various interpretations. I am a 76 year old Japanese, and the one that to me makes most sense is by A.J.Hartley and Jonathan. It is long, but if you want to know what the song is about, this is it.
Amazing, glad you reacted to this song! You’re right, Moa was the only backing vocals here. Remember from the guide: Momo was still an Avenger (aka no mic) until her official inauguration in Apr 2023. An easy tell to know if Momo was “official” in a video: The translucent outfits (e.g., during Monochrome) were first premiered the day after Momo became official (now with a mic). This song invokes the emotion of a slow descent from an angelic Dusk into the chaotic darkness of Midnight (that sick dubstep metal breakdown). Just when you thought “all is lost”, never ever…. You are struck with hope, and the warmth of Dawn (and shift to major key) for that epic ending. Absolutely amazing, and one of the few times entirely in English! 🤘🦊

Both songs are part of that album, only thing is FDTD was released for international market and Syncopation only locally, of course is another suggestion for next reaction. This is a long time waited proshot version for the fans, song was pushed to be performed again after many years and being played only one time at Hollywood Paladium in 2017 while on US tour when YuiMetal was still in the group, sadly for copyright disputes that proshot version never saw the light and we only have fancams of that. Thankfully they performed this in 2021 at 10 Babymetal Years Budokan, and surprised everyone with this astonishing and beautiful production. @@JohnnyReacts1 There are certainly errors in these particular subtitles. As you re-watch listen for the consonants Su does and does not sing, the vowel sounds she does and does not make. Thanks again 有難う💛。This song has been performed only 3 times to date. Only a limited number of fans who were at Hollywood Palladium on June 16, 2017 had been privileged to experience this song for 4 years. On February 16, 2021, when the intro started, everyone at Budokan (including me) was firstly shocked and gradually god excited understanding what was going to happen. At the end of the song, however, everyone got confused with what he / she witnessed because it was too surprising and mesmerizing. On the following day (Feb.17), the audiences came to the venue expecting the setlist would remain the same and FDTD would be played again. Once this song started, many of them (including me) just stared at the stage without moving as if they were trying to burn the performance into their retinas. Su-Metal did it perfectly. "In the end !" Ethereal voice. And Moa and Momoko did perfect choreo like angels smoothly dancing around the goddess. Oh! I actually saw and listened to this artistry twice for sure, but still "was it real?" (Even after viewed it in Blu-ray video)
FDTD is an incredible and very underrated song. It's one of Su's most remarkable vocal performances. It's a shame that they've only performed live three times. FDTD was the exclusive track on the international version of the Metal Resistance album; Japan got Syncopation instead. Apparently Koba thought that Syncopation was "too Japanese" for international audiences. FDTD is also unusual because it's one of only four Babymetal songs that are entirely in English. These subtitles aren't quite right. Although the song is in English, no-one really knows what the actual lyrics are. They have used the video stage quite a lot over recent years. I think the screen is actually under the dancefloor because if it was projected from above you would see their shadows on it. This was in 2021 at 10 Babymetal Budokan during the Avengers era, so Momoko was still performing as Avenger at this time.
great reaction...yes FDTD has its own uniqueness compared to other BabyMetal music...in my opinion FDTD is very simple, majestic, elegant and with a Su Metal vocal technique with extraordinary valseto, a very extraordinary stage too...and In this era, Momo Metal is still part of the Avengers...🦊🦊🦊
Fantastic reation. A good reaction like yours can activate my goosebumps in sympathy. Su is a unique phenomena that needs customized bespoke material from the writers, and they always deliver it like she's a queen (which she is). This song reminds me of a giant diamond. I'm trying to think of a way of not name-dropping YUYOYUPPE again, who wrote this fantastically transendental song for them (and monochrome), because i don't want to annoy people by coming across as a helpless Yuyoyuppe stan, trying to get people as hooked on his music as i am. So i wont. I think they only play some songs once, or stop doing them for years, so they can bring them back one day. I think this song will be played again when the time is right along with Tales of the Destinies. You haven't done tales of the destinies yet. You will understand why they have only played it once......😄
I'll paraphrase with a different analogy of what Kobametal said, Babymetal is meant to be an experience, you go into a Babymetal live show (venue) and you are transported to a different world/universe, you forgot about the regular world we all know for a little while. The way I sometimes joke, Babymetal is kind of a traveling circus, but instead of a circus, it's a church or something like that, an different-world/religious experience, visiting the metal goddesses in their world. 🙂
Thank you for this great reaction! Yes, FDTD is ART. Music, singing, choreo, stage, production, all of it is a piece of art, and an experience. You´re right, Moa did the backing vocals. Momo was still the Avenger at that time, so no singing by her at all. If you want to see an even more elaborated stage design, watch - In The Name Of from the same Budokan 2021 concert series. It will blow your mind, although there´s no singing. It´s the opener, and an epic one. Some people call this version "the burning cake" 😉 (there´s another version, from the "Legend S" concert, and that version is even more epic, but most likely not reactable. Viciously blocked)
I went to Tokyo for the first time this year. When I first saw Budokan, I ran up and hugged it. It was an honor to see Nemophila there. It was great seeing Babymetal a few weeks later at Yokohama Arena.
Babymetal has been incorporating LED screens for their stages and backdrops for several years now in their stage and set designs which is one of the ways they've been able to up their game when it comes to their live performances when they do their shows in Japan as well as the backdrops for shows outside of Japan
That was a great reaction. Thank you for doing it. Momoko wasn't Momometal yet, so she did not sing in this performance. If you watch it again and pay attention, that Momoko barely got any screen time because she was still the avenger at the time. She also doesn't have a mic either. So yes, it was only Moametal singing in the background. We don't often hear her beautifully clear voice too that for some of us, is very nostalgic when we've followed her ever since she was 11 years old.
The lyrics are bit of a mystery, they have not been officially released. Prof. Andrew Hartley (who has a lot of videos where he talks about the meaning of Babymetal songs and cultural refernces) and a friend have come up with the following after listening to fancams of the 2017 performance of the song, the 2021 one and the studio version: The falling day Sun is going down In the air I'm walking home Never-ending road Walking home Sun is going down In the end Fade away In the end In the end On the border Don't stop for them (Sun is going down) On the border Don't stop walking (Sun is going down) Feel Pain Alone Forever Heart Blind eye No more Run away Look at my face More day after day And which is the fake So is this the fate? I wake from the dream To keep and believe The light yet is free A deep silence (break) All is over Never, ever All is over Never, ever In the end In the end
Hi Jhonny... by the time I´ve seen BM... Momo only sings since 2023 to present, most of the lives before that year is only Su & Moa singing (till Yui´s era)
The lyrics are part of a long running debate. Despite being in English , it’s been one of the most difficult songs to translate . 😂.The lyrics shown here are more than likely wrong as well. Momo was only an avenger back in 2021 , so only Moa had a mic back then.
Hi Johnny, this is one of my favorite songs along with Monochrome and Karate by Babymetal. I have another artist to recommend who gives you emotions with his voice, you should try to react to Ado "Unravel live"
I agree. If su hasn't brought a tear to your eye, your not a 100% Babymetal fan yet. Once it happens your a fan for life. Those tears are your eyes thanking you on behalf of your ears. (you wouldn't want your ears to start leaking in gratitude, especially with earbuds) If Su never brings a tear to your eye you're probably an AI android from the year 2064 (f**k you if you're reading this AI), or just a miserable sod.
Tearvjerker? Not really but its a very efferctive drmonstration of Babymetals capabilities. Abd next year they will try to get their tours for thecfirst time in european abd UK Arenas.
No projection. it's a LED screen they're on. 99% of their stages are LED screens like this. Even better, this Budakon stage is actually multiple levels that can raise and lower. It looks like a giant birthday cake when all 3 levels are raised. And this is 2021 so Momo is still an Avenger, so she doesn't sing at all. She doesn't become a full BabyMetal member until 2023. This is their most beautiful song IMO. Great reaction.
Nice reaction. Done worry about the logo, Babymetal fans are used to it and it is better than any of the bad compilations xd. FDTD is one of my top 3 Babymetal songs because it is so unique and the breakdown is just insane. Also Su’s vocals on the song are just on a whole other level. Too bad they haven’t played that song that much, so I never had the chance to see it live. 🤘🦊🔥

This ranks as my top BabyMetal song! So unique and shows Su’s singing talent to its best! Very moving song!🦊🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻🦊
Yes, very nice song, I agree.
great reaction...yes FDTD has its own uniqueness compared to other BabyMetal music...in my opinion FDTD is very simple, majestic, elegant and with a Su Metal vocal technique with extraordinary valseto, a very extraordinary stage too...and In this era, Momo Metal is still part of the Avengers...🦊🦊🦊
I can hear the tears in your eyes. Welcome to the family. Welcome to BABYMETAL!
Many thanks
大好きな曲です。いつもありがとう ❤❤
It is very beautiful, I agree.
Absolutely amazing..
I hope so, I would love to see this live someday. Also thank you for your kind comment!
I am starting to understand.
Thank you for this great reaction! Yes, FDTD is ART. Music, singing, choreo, stage, production, all of it is a piece of art, and an experience. You´re right, Moa did the backing vocals. Momo was still the Avenger at that time, so no singing by her at all.
If you want to see an even more elaborated stage design, watch
- In The Name Of
from the same Budokan 2021 concert series. It will blow your mind, although there´s no singing. It´s the opener, and an epic one. Some people call this version "the burning cake" 😉 (there´s another version, from the "Legend S" concert, and that version is even more epic, but most likely not reactable. Viciously blocked)
Been waiting forever for this one. Hope youre well Johnnyson
Thank, yep I'm okay, surviving.
@@JohnnyReacts1 i hear you brother. weird days here in canada as of late. Thats what Babymetal is for tho. Great react my friend. :)
Thanks. Yes, when I was looking for pictures for the thumbnail I saw she didn't have a microphone.
Please "Momo Taro" as next
I love this song.... but it's too short ❤
Super emotional track
I agree.
The lyrics are bit of a mystery, they have not been officially released.
Prof. Andrew Hartley (who has a lot of videos where he talks about the meaning of Babymetal songs and cultural refernces) and a friend have come up with the following after listening to fancams of the 2017 performance of the song, the 2021 one and the studio version:
The falling day
Sun is going down
In the air
I'm walking home
Never-ending road
Walking home
Sun is going down
In the end
Fade away
In the end
In the end
On the border
Don't stop for them (Sun is going down)
On the border
Don't stop walking (Sun is going down)
Feel
Pain
Alone
Forever
Heart
Blind eye
No more
Run away
Look at my face
More day after day
And which is the fake
So is this the fate?
I wake from the dream
To keep and believe
The light yet is free
A deep silence (break)
All is over
Never, ever
All is over
Never, ever
In the end
In the end
Thanks so much for taking the time to post the lyrics.
Hi can you do 2023 Pia Arena Time Wave?
I can add it to the list!
Hi Jhonny... by the time I´ve seen BM... Momo only sings since 2023 to present, most of the lives before that year is only Su & Moa singing (till Yui´s era)
🍅💀🍅
🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Break !
🤘🦊🤘
The lyrics are part of a long running debate. Despite being in English , it’s been one of the most difficult songs to translate . 😂.The lyrics shown here are more than likely wrong as well. Momo was only an avenger back in 2021 , so only Moa had a mic back then.
I cringe a bit when I imagine the creator thinking „Oh, I found out what they are saying, it‘s >And only way
@@MacTaipan 😂😂😂
Hi Johnny, this is one of my favorite songs along with Monochrome and Karate by Babymetal.
I have another artist to recommend who gives you emotions with his voice, you should try to react to Ado "Unravel live"
Thank you I will check it out!
Not If but When will Queen Su make you cry ?...And she will unless got no soul or a ginger...( just a wee poke, sorry joke)
I agree. If su hasn't brought a tear to your eye, your not a 100% Babymetal fan yet. Once it happens your a fan for life. Those tears are your eyes thanking you on behalf of your ears. (you wouldn't want your ears to start leaking in gratitude, especially with earbuds)
If Su never brings a tear to your eye you're probably an AI android from the year 2064 (f**k you if you're reading this AI), or just a miserable sod.
I really do not weep, it is rare for me to do, but this did make my eyes water and I did feel the emotion.
🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
you should react to shine by babymetal OMG with subtitles
Tearvjerker? Not really but its a very efferctive drmonstration of Babymetals capabilities.
Abd next year they will try to get their tours for thecfirst time in european abd UK Arenas.
Do KAGEROU Legend MM it’s a cool song and babymetal smash it 🤘🏼👍🏼
No projection. it's a LED screen they're on.
Thank you for letting me know about the screen. Amazing stage.
