I have my late dad's black paint OG X100... evidently a limited edition only 10,000 made. I'll never part with it. I shoot it exclusively in Monochrome-R + a 20% cinebloom and solely use the OVF... that way it doesn't feel slow. Kind of a cheap Leica Monochrom. Very pleased with this camera, and it's a connection to my dad. He took thousands of photos with it, so I continue the tradition 💚
Just a tip for X100 users. ISO does not matter much as far as sharpness or color is concerned indoors. Especially at F2 the camera usually picks 1/30th for a s/s. This camera NEEDS at least 1/100th for pictures to have good color & sharpness. It sounds strange but i've had 4 of them and its just the way it is. Sounds crazy since it has a leaf shutter and there is minimal shutter shock. As far as the lens being soft wide open. It is, only close up to your subject. If your subject is 4 feet away then F2 is sharp. This is an amazing camera with awesome clean jpegs. I think Fuji was going for a "real photo look" and i think they nailed it
Picked one up last week. I love it. I already have an XE4 and I feel this pairs really well with it. I think you saying the key is "good light" should be for every camera, ever. If you enter all scenes going for the best lighting, you're not going to have many misses. I'm currently making a video on the X100. I'm stoked to talk about it.
I bought the original X100 the day it came to my local camera store. I was drooling over pictures of it in the many photography magazines that I was reading back then. My experience was less than pleasing after spending $1200 for it. The first negative was the shockingly short battery life. Add to that the fact that to get a near dead battery to full charge took over 3 hours, and I never hit 200 photos with a fully charged battery. So additional cost for spare batteries. The Auto focus was unusable for me. Too slow, too unpredictable and with the optical finder unverifiable. I took to using zone focus in manual mode for most of my street shooting. The exposure compensation dial was always off of zero just from carrying the camera, too loose and unlockable. I still have my X100 (never sell anything) and once a year or so I take it out to see if I may have been too harsh, but no. Luckily, I gave Fujifilm another chance and now have 6 other models in the X-T, X-E and X-Pro class and really think Fujifilm stepped up on making some terrific cameras.
@@vascompinto Yes, the X100 firmware update made it into almost an entirely new camera regarding autofocus. It's still not perfect, but way better than the original firmware.
Just got my X100 after owning several Fujis including my since new X100T. Reason? The files. I embrace the X100's limitations because I prefer the more natural looking files over the newer version Fujs. But that's just me since I mainly shoot film, I don't want optimal sharpness, advanced camera features etc. I also like the X Trans 1 models but the "improved" later versions, not what I'm looking for.
getting closer to 1k subs on this channel, can't wait until you blow up! the useful information is great and more people need to see these videos! 🙏 🤠
Nice video Matt! I’m quite confused as to get rid of it or not, trying to go the minimalist path, but I really don’t wanna give it away due to great quality of pictures it can develop.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (behave today finger ski upon boy assault summer exhaust beauty stereo over). What's the best way to send them to Binance?

Did you update the firmware? The last firmware made a nice update on the autofocus.

Thanks John. I actually own both the X100 and X100T. I'm going to sell the x100T for similar reasons you mention!

I'd like a 23mm F2 for my xt30 but I think i'll take a x100 instead of the lens, just for pleasure 👍
still have it since 2011
Super sleek looking camera

How long lasts the battery approx?
Close up shooting. Use a macro lens
