Join me for a RUclips EXCLUSIVE! I take a quick look at the Accurascale MK2B coach which is due for release in late 2023. This is an exclusive look at these exciting new OO Gauge coaches as I run them around Dean Park. These coaches are livery samples of the forthcoming model so bare that in mind, as some corrections and improvements have been made for the production models. Filmed and uploaded in 4K.

Brilliant train layout Dean Park Model Railway
Accurascale seem to have a really good eye for detail
Stunning. If my grandmother was still alive I would happily sell her for a full blue grey rake of these. 😇 Dave, you mention these are a gap in the market, quite correct unless you go back to Lima. The door is wide open for Accurascale to fill the MK2D gap too. Have a word please.😁
Yeah Lima did them not a bad model for the time.
A mk2D is due from someone! It has to be!!
You’ll have to settle for the old Airfix ones amazing for 1979
agree.
Cant wait for my pre orders to run on layout, again accurascale raising the bar on detailing , nice review Dave 👍👍
Cheers. The coach certainly looks promising!
I have 8 of the Mk2c's on order as well as a single Civil Engineer’s Mobile Track Assessment MK2c. After seeing these Mk2B's, I cannot wait for the C's!
You’ll not be disappointed
These coaches look great, especially the onboard lighting which is a major step-up from the MK5s. I’ve got some West Coast versions on pre-order to go behind my Scotsman.
Wow, the level of detail is amazing!!! I have a lot of Accurascale rolling stock and for some reason missed the 2b’s. I have 8 2c’s on pre order and having watched this am even more excited for them to arrive. Accurascale really are blowing everyone else out of the water in recent times 👏👏
Great video as always……
Cheers.
Accurascale are developing quickly as a company and have established themselves in the market place in the last 5 years.
However Hornby are still the kings of all things steam, bachmann produce market leading models and rolling stock too.
The mk2F from bachmann is still thee benchmark for modern image rolling stock. It is top of the pile. Accurascale will no doubt give us great mk2b and c models
However. I really want a mk2D! :-)
I have 5 Hornby intercity Mk2E’s in intercity executive, without lights, that I run with my matching 47. They will definitely need an upgrade of some sort when the Accurascale coaches arrive!
They look fantastic.
Great review Dave and the layout is looking superb!
Cheers. :-)
A good overview of these coaches here Dave, they definitely look very nice.
These look great and appear to run very smoothly. They look great on the layout.
Cheers. Yeah you get more of an idea of how they look when put on a layout. Ran really well.
Great review these are a game changer.
They are good. But the mk2F in Dcc from bachmann still leads the way, it’s just unfortunate that they are ridiculously priced!
Great review Dave. Accurascale have excelled again and the interior detail and lighting is a leap ahead. Missed the pre order, but have expressed my desires should stock become available 🤞🤞🤞
I’m sure you’ll get the chance to get some! And being so very popular I’m sure another run of them won’t be far behind!
I am sure you are right Dave. Got some mk 2c on order thankfully.
Great coaches Dave!!! Very nice models! Many thanks for sharing this video. Cheers Onno.
My pleasure onno
First 👍 - got the RTC set on order - looking forward to receiving them.
Love the use of Test Card F with Carol Hersee (her with bubbles the doll), and the same music I used in the video from Model Rail Scotland 2023, which, for folks wondering, is from a video called "Railfreight Express"! But seriously, these are very impressive, I have two Trans Pennine liveried examples on order for 2024, and they'll replace the Lima ones I have. They will be night and day, compared to the Lima ones, that I do know!
I first used that music last year in a video.
They look amazing, thanks for the video. To say that the Mk2B is yet to be modelled isn't entirely accurate as Lima used to do them in OO gauge years ago. Although they are very toy like in comparison to these. I have picked a few up cheap on Ebay over the years in the hope of improving and respraying them as there was no good RTR ones. Looks like I just had to wait.
Ok.. discounting limas examples. lol
Were the Lima ones accurate tho?
@@mccarronfamily probably not that much, but they were the only ones we had available for a long time. Certainly a product of their time.
Wow they look great, I have the old Hornby version in grey which I love. But this certainly looks a great model sounds amazing.
I like the floating wheel idea. My Accurascale 37 suffered with derailing on one particular curve of my layout. I’ve sorted the problem now but all my other models ran fine. Seems the Accurascale model is particularly sensitive.
I have an issue with the acc 37 not liking my three way point! Only one of my three locos does this.
Superb, os there nothing you OO guys can’t get 😮
If they ventured into the mk2fs it would knock the Bachmann coaches into a cocked hat as they are almost £100 each and they havent re run the blue greys since launch. Ripe for duplication methinks.
Think with the superb bachmann mk2F is that they have a decoder in each coach which gives more operation to their lighting. For example, many mk2F bachmann released were fitted with central door locking lights. To get this to operate you need a decoder.
The bachmann product is a superb one. Bit it’s far too expensive.
I’d like to see someone do the mk2D. It’s the only one that still relies on the ancient ex airfix tooling now trotted out by Hornby! It’s decades old.
A mk2d is a must from accurascale
Or bachmann. Bachmann are better placed… having the 2F tooling as a basis.
must get some they ĺook great
These will be superb coaches if bits don't fall off. Let's wait and see
Got my ones this week. No bits fell off.
@@DeanPark That's good to know. Makes me look forward to the mk1 subs
They look fantastic, I haven't got any of these on order as I'm waiting (and hoping) they'll do a couple of Scottish versions. The Mk2c variants have been ordered and I can't wait for them to arrive. Great video as always Dave 👍
Yeah the Scottish mk2c are coaches I’m really looking forward to!
goode vid thanks ,lee
Thanks for watching :-)
Can you do a video to show how to fit the orange curtains please in the First Class FK? They are printed on separate clear sheets.
These look ace, its a shame I am doing modern image but I suppose a rail tour rake with these would look superb.
West coast railways ones! :-)
@@DeanPark Didn't even realize they where going to do it in that livery, will be getting some for sure. Although I feel like I should get a matching WC loco.
Wished A/scale did these models few years ago - got good set of Mark 2B's from hornby but still decided to pick up 2 Detailed ones from A/Scale - mix and match. Hope A/Scale produces more Locos like Class 87 and HST's (Hornby's prices of their HST's extremely high now over £350).
Unlikely to do either. 87 a limited loco which ran on linited routes. Hornby model will satisfy most modellers. Market for this loco is niche to west coast routes.
HST. You say Hornby one is expensive, however the mk3 coaches to run with it are newly tooled, have a good level of detail, are accurate and are £40 each. If accurascale did a mk3 to standard of mk2b it would command a £65+ price tag too. A full rake of 8 would therefore cost you £150+ more than the Hornby offering. You might save a little on the HST compared to Hornby (which is discounted to under £300 if you look around), but you’d still spend the same or more on a Hornby rival HST/MK3 set.
The Hornby model is one of the best diesel locos on the market. It would take something very special to topple that.
I’d like to see less duplication of models and companies tackling models not done in recent times or those who have yet to be done in model form.
Good point of view@@DeanPark , may have to disagee on our point of views; A/scale did a Class 37, 31 that their rivals did like Bachmann - more detailed and more reasonable price; so could do those models as mentioned - newer tooling, more detailed and more reasonable price.
Hope you don't mind my comments or slight differing points of view- any way your channel and layout is superb.
Hi, surly Accurascale must know how popular RTC livery items are by now, Bachmann secondhand RTC coaches are shockingly expensive! Accurascale have missed an open goal here to be fair, their RTC coaches would sell all year round in my opinion, i didn't even know they were doing those coaches until it was too late, apparently no more will be made after this run, hopefully Revolution Trains will produce some and make a great deal of modellers very happy......as long as the price isn't aimed at those with Swiss bank accounts, thanks for sharing.
Sorry, in what way do you think theyve missed out?! No open goals here mate, just one it sounds like you’ve missed! Still, mine will be going on eBay so fill your boots bidding on them 😂
@@aureol40012 Why don’t you take a day off, let’s hope your coaches don’t get crushed in the post!
@@StormmyStormmy have I interacted with you before? If so, you clearly have form!
2D coaches would be great :)
Someone will be doing them!!
Thanks for the review. I appreciate within the confines of this video you might not have been able to compare to e.g. Bachmann Mk2s, but briefly are you able to tell us if they look ok in a rake together? Thanks
Hi. There are subtle livery shade differences. But the accurascale ones may be subject to correction.
Bearing in mind that there were numerous shades of br blue etc in real life so slight differences on the models would be authentic.
But yes they do run and look well together.
@@DeanPark Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I am tempted by some of the NSE ones.
Not enough cheesy (alias "period appropriate industrial film") music, but otherwise an excellent video (as usual). Cheers from Wisconsin!
Dave, how do these look in a rake with Bachmann 2A coaches ?
Slight colour variation on the grey. But as these models I showed were pre production examples I don’t want to compare them to Bachmann’s existing models incase the colours in the accurascale ones are to be finalised.
Cheers. That's fair enough, good point.@@DeanPark
Quite a stark difference it turns out. Will get away with mixing with Mark 2fs and other liveries.. Will be there be an easy, clever to modify these? On their own, they are very good. Not had a chance to compare my Trans-Pennines, I suspect they will be different too.
It's great to see coaches with good interior detail at last especially when lighting is fitted. £60 each looks a lot better value than the stock others produce like the £40 I paid for a ex Lima moulding with nothing like the detail these have. All sold now though. Why do they make such limited runs of things.
There are Mark 2c's coming next, and more runs, but thousands and thousands have been made - they are just incredibly popular :)
@@mccarronfamily I know their products are popular and rightly so, they knock the spots off other manufacturers. I will see if I can get some 2c's having seen this. Like Dave I model Scotland in the 70's to 80's blue grey period so some Scotrail stock would be nice for the end of the time period. The coach I got was a sleeper to go with my ETHEL which has been a long time coming.
Did you try coupling a magnetic coupling to a West Hill Wagon Works magnetic coupling? And are they 'poled' or are they like the Elite magnetic coupling?
I'm an N-Gauger and hoping the MK2C will be shrunk
Hi. They worked with hunt magnets, yeah.
10:18 - are Accrascale announcing and then releasing the Mark 2 C Variants ? be good if they will along with Some Electric Loco Traction, e.g., 85, 86, 87, etc
These are already announced and are due early 2024.
Thanks@@DeanPark %$%$%$ got confused on the Marks with wikipedia descriptions of sub marks - Sorry a Debbie Thomas moment. I have got a 2C NSE buffet ordered as well - another Debbie Moment..
Silly Question which mark 2 did BR produce with clear full (non opening window) ? was it 2F or earlier >@@DeanPark
I don't collect 00 gauge, but even so I'd buy those test coaches. Unfortunately they have been sold out for a long time. Hey ho.
I’m sure a second run of them will follow!! :-)
Yeh they sold out on day of going on sale
Why do British outline coaches still have bogie mounted couplers?
These don’t!
How easy is it to add passengers?
That I do not know. Didn’t take body off.
@@DeanPark oh nevermind.... maybe next time
Destination plates, too often overlooked detail! 😊
It’s a Neat touch.
To be brutaly honest, these make Bachmanns pricing of their coaches look farcical, Accurascale once again demonstrating unbeatable value for money!!!
Well bachmann mk2a is £5 cheaper (retail) than this accurascale coach without a lighting bar, less detail and is rarely available.
So can’t argue…accurascale value for money is superb.
How much are they
£59.95
They are too low and are the same height as the Bachmann ones. What is going on with models being the wrong ride height
Contact accurascale and let them know. I’m sure they will be keen to have any feedback.
Great looking coaches if you can afford them.the pricing in this hobby is getting out of hand.for anyone wanting to start in this hobby.they have no chance
Yes prices are on the up. But what isn’t ? Cars, food, fuel, holidays, flights, basic stuff… all sky rocketing!
There is an entry to those starting… Hornby railroad. Hornby take some unjustified criticism at times. But they, and only they offer a budget entry to the hobby.
