Without launch control? This is what I love about Koenigsegg. "Hey, nice weather conditions today." "Yes, quite good." "Should we break some records today perhaps?" "... Yeah sure, why not." And then in their lunch break they smash the world record.. 3, consecutive runs...
Everybody, the footage from Autocar reviewing the Veyron SS, if you guys listened, he said they had a full tank of fuel, a passenger, and the track had a slight incline and it still got close to the Agera with a flat surface and no passenger. Please everybody, listen before you assume because it is a lot closer than it looks.
The agera r is by far my favorite car. Love the way this car flows to high speed. No other car anywhere can reach 273. MPH. faster in production today...not even the Hennessey....If the Hennessey can reach 273...?....no matter. I love this company and what they stand for. Favorite car is and will always be the agera r.....long live the GHOST!
The Agera R just topped 401,6 km/h on the 3,5km long straight on Nurnburgring. No technicians, only one dude having some fun. Last record for topspeed there was 313 km/h with the CCR.
@Ryknfjor It would be bolted into a subframe which is what then would be connected with the chassis. While in race cars, the engine/transmission block is part of the chassis itself and plays a structural part since it supports the suspension hinges of the rear wheels.
It's a dynamic wing so it's not activated by some dumb "top speed mode" but reacts to wind pressure - so in cornering it's stable and on the straights the wing folds.
@Ryknfjor To connect an engine with the subframe one can use rubber parts which dampen vibrations while if the engine block is part of the structure itself the connection must be direct to ensure rigidity.
in addition, SSC meant the aero to be a branding for their company, to show what we can do and thats it. It was there to show that their little company can achieve something as big as breaking the record. Their SSC UA was not meant to be a big sale, a big hype. In fact, they already expected to produce about 20 cars or so despite how many orders they were taking. The real production branding for SSC is the tuatara.
Just think how much faster this car would be if they'd fix that launch. 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds is simply not good enough for a car in this category.
Are you sure about that? The coefficient between rubber and concrete is higher than asphalt, which is why high horsepower cars racing on the highway prefer racing straights where there are concrete strips.
Alex Mitra the koenigsegg has almost the exact same setup as the ccx, and makes half the amount of downforce of the venom gt, and the venom gt has been on track and you can see how flat it corners, courtesy of having almost as much downforce as a p1. The agera r is hevaier less powerful, makes less downforce, and has softer suspension and has the setup of a car that tried to kill the stig. The venom gt went both ways on its 300kmh run but you guys disaprove its 270 achievement because it didn't go both ways, the agera r didn't go both ways for its 300kmh run. in the video the guy just drive up to a fence and then keeps going the same way, he didn't go the other way so it shouldn't really count if the venom gt's record doesn't count. Watch the video he goes in a direcion at 320kmh then brakes as hard as he can, then drives back in the opposite direction to where he started, then he drives to 320kmh and brakes the life out of the agera r. Guinness weren't even there but some how they got the record?!?!?! the only person there was the koenigsegg test driver piloting the agera r to 320kmh and at the other end of the runway, just this guy with a camera to film the agera r braking at its hardest, like WTF!?! koenigsegg haven't done a top speed run since the ccr, but somehow people are bullshitting about the agera r doing 273mph eventhough the agera r has never been driven over 250mph, The one:1 hasn't been driven by koenigsegg, christian even said that we haven't driven the car 1 metre!!? but people are blabbering about it doing over 280mph. We don't even know whether there was wind helping the car to accelerate to 320kmh. The venom gt went both ways and did a second faster than the agera r, and that avergae isn't even its best time. There are videos of the venom gt not even being driven at its best but doing 300kmh quicker than its original record. Most of the time it does 300kmh in under 13.3seconds
the steel they fashioned for the engine block came from one metalworks comapny, the washers , valves and rubber piping from one plastics company, the pistons, gears etc came from some outsourced mechanics company, the ECU and all its transistors came from another electronics company.... So you can say that mercedes or any engine manufacturer did not build their own engines at all. They are all kit engines and are lifted from all the assorted companies who built the parts instead, correct?
your are exactly right. which is why they also built a topspeed mode in the Agera. As much as I hate TS mode, in TS mode the agera's cd is but 0.33 and its more aerodynamic than the veyron's TS 0.36, but like the veyron TS, its unstable in corners.

@TheJusticeCross sorry i should have chosen my words a bit more carefully when i wasn't in a rush. these are the records: 0-300kmh: 14.53 seconds 0-200mph: 17.68 seconds 300-0kmh: 6.66 seconds 200-0mph: 7.28 seconds 0-300-0kmh: 21.19 seconds 0-200-0mph: 24.96 seconds 1,200bhp Bugatti Veyron Supersport posts a 0-200mph time of 22.2s. so by the time the SS reaches 200MPH, the Agera is braking. that's amazing.
Exactly. The agera 401kmh was set not as part of a lap time but a promotional show.thru the rest of the ring , it simply doddled along. It didnt even need the df to corner, thats why it could use ts mode throughout. In its track mode, trust me it wont hit past 350 kmh, the ccx in track mode only hit 300++ kmh by marc bassang.
@burns985 "The Agera R can accelerate from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds and reach a theoretical top speed of approximately 275 mph (442.569 km/h)" Taken from Wikipedia so that might not be accurate.
@DDawgInkTVProduction the agera r is 533kg lighter than the veyron, but alot of the weight on the super sport is the engine and the 4 wheel drive system
@BLgt1 The Nurburgring, which is narrow and has rouch pavement and big altitude differences and more tight corners causes a much bigger problem to the CCX. Being a very light and stiff car with little downforce, it's very hard to take advantage of its power there. In order to be able to gain time on the straights, where Basseng did say it was the quickest, they had to lighten the springs, therefore causing bodyroll.Plus the big torque boost and the back becomes pretty much uncontrollable...
topgear itself gave a review of its opinions about the SSC tuatara even before it was launched. And since then there have been more and more updates and speculations about the tuatara from car magzines.

@Janusha thats the best description... i honestly cannot believe that a company PROMISES a car befor it actually exists. thats not possible in europe or asia.
@MrTemjin Your point with one of your comments was that the Veyron is better engineered than Koenigsegg. For being a company that has around 30 people developing a supercar faster than VW Bugatti that has alot more people involved. It's a damn good job.
@veyronpc sorry my fault.. the agera r has 1115hp and I meant the normal bugatti which can only 1001, but you were right the super sport edition can 1200, but again to repeat the agera r has only a 5l v8 twin turbocharged engine, but the bugatti has a 8l w16 quad-turbocharged engine.. it's a way more impressive performance for the agera r because the bugatti has 3l bigger engine.. but still both cars rock, but I'd prefer the agera r more..
the mclaren f1 set its record only in 1998, but vast majorty of the reviews came at the time of its launch in 1994-1995. When SSC was launched, nobody heard about it. Few owned one, and those owners won't spread the word. SSC said themselves they don't have a PR prototype unlike bugatti, where journalists can anyhow take a spin on one if they can't find an owner.Their own test mule is kept for performance testing only and such. And its perfectly logical given they are but a small company.
@m5boarddotcom Agera R reached 320 km/h in 17,7seconds losing more than half a second from 0-100 km/h. From what I see the 0-100 km/h time is 3,7 seconds instead of 3 seconds. What happened? With a good start the car should be able to reach 320 km/h in 17 seconds.
@unforgiven26 SSC ultimate aero 0-200mph 15.0s 0-300kmh 12.8s. By the time the agera r reaches 300kmh, the SSC is at 200mph. and then when it reaches 200mph, the ssc would have braked to 150mph.
@LTJBLTJB thats right. The reason for a very supoptimal 0-60 is that below the ideal rev band, the power is manageable by traction, but not very much, so slow accel, then suddenly the power piles on and overwhelms the traction, and then suboptimal accel again. A good driver should anticipate when this happens and ease the throttle. I dont know if it actually true, but i see evidence of this when i plot agera's accel against rpm.
Exactly....Venom has just as big of surface area on brakes and as much tire on the ground, but weighs less...If Hennessey can get a 3500lb Viper to stop in 103 feet, the Venom is easily a 90-95ft stopping distance, every bit as fast as the Agera R.
the Red Victor is street car. Its defined as the fastest Street Legal Car in the world by Guinness. You watch the red victor segment on fifthgear, the owner can actually drive his son to school in red victor. And whats with trunk? you can place stuff inside the cabin as well. Some supercars trunks are so small you might as well not have a trunk. And they're street cars. So, the Nissan GTR doest have back seats either. Niether does the Konigsegg.
Honestly, i haven't seen the Agera R, Huayra, Veyron, nor F1 for real (nobody owns them in my country because import tax for foreign car is +-300% the price e.g: An avendator cost 0.9-1,1 million USD. It's just a subjective list of cars that i like not limited to super cars but well... almost all of them are supecars (yes the GTR is NOT a super car). Yes the Mclaren F1 was made in 1992 so it is outdated now, but still it is legendary. Btw, your from Sweden, Thanks for Agera R man, i love it :)
let me define what is a tuner car vs a production car. A tuner car was originally some other car brand before it was modified. the UR galladro was once a Lambo Gallardo, but you replace the engine with more HP, it is now the UR Gallardo. You can drive a tuner car before it was modified.
This guy, Robert Serwanski is the Koenigsegg thest driver. Arega is set to his preferences. I think that they are lucky to have him, so the car performs like it does!
i was refering to the other thing, not the wing. "All Agera models are limited to 375 km/h in standard mode, but can be unlocked by Koenigsegg for shorter periods of time, if all necessary conditions are met, such as road condition, tire wear, service level of car etc. The car is set in full speed mode by unlocking the top speed mode in the Infotainment system.:" netcarshow com koenigsegg 2012-agera_r
@TheJusticeCross 9ff 1200 : "Test Drive Porsche 9ff GTurbo 1200 Part 4 - flat6 TT 1 200 HP / 113 mkg - 0-100 km/h in 2.8 s / 0-200 km/h in 7.1 s / 0-300 km/h in 14.1 s / Topspeed : 414 km/h / 100-200 km/h in 5 s / 200-300 km/h in 7.5 s) - Weight : 1 390 kg"
i.e built from scratch. on the other hand, a tuner is a car which can previously be driven which has its parts changed. The omega used to be a nissan GTR which can be driven. But you change the engine. So its a tuner. On the other hand, even tho there are less examples of SSCs than Omega, the SSC was not previously another type of car. Previously, it was a bunch of spare parts. Get it?
@McLarenMercedes I don't know where you heard that, I have never heard of the Koenigsegg's being unreliable. Obviously when you build something of this caliber to sell at this price, you make sure it will last. Its not hard to make an engine reliable when its an 8.0L W16 pushing barely any boost at all. The thing could probably push 20 psi and the block would be fine, the rest of the car probably couldn't handle it however.
there are many places in the world where the Agera can reach 430kmh. All it needs is 3.5 miles. There are 3.5mile straight autobahns, airstrips, highways where they can close like SSC, and even if all that fails they can go to nardo where their ccr broke the mclaren f1's record.
Since it's rear wheel drive it'd probably just make the rear tires lose grip since all the weight / force is on the front tires while breaking. Better to just let the ABS do what it should.
He goes right, the G dot goes left. He goes left and the G dot goes right... as you'd expect, right? So why when he accelerates, does the dot go up? I thought it would go down
ferrari fxx may be put on the street for pr purposes. ferrari states that fxx can only be leased to owners within the confines of a track. so no one can drive them outside on the road.
The Chevy V8 small block is not only built by GM for chevrolet. Its built "open market", so that any car manufacturer can use it. By SSC sourced the V8 small block the same way HP sourced an Nvidia geforce graphics card for their own brand of laptop. It doesn't mean that since half of all the computers in the world used geforce, a HP laptop is a kit laptop does it? They didn't just simply get any corvette and lift the engine from there.
comparing a car which has 400 more hp than the SSC is like comparing apples to oranges. besides, the SSC is a brand certified production car. The Omega is a tuner derived from a Nissan GTR.
so? 1. id be expecting the ariel atom to stop twice as fast as the henessey because its half as heavy. true? 2. this is the same as the first point. But advatage goes to the agera coz they're larger. 3. you do know that the limiting traction of braking always comes from the front tyres since the F/R weight distribution is less than 0.5,and front tyres are thinner. and how is tire wall related to braking? I thought thats negligible. or at least can be compensated by proper tyre pressure.
koenigssegg agera r is something special.. i would definitely pay $1 million for it.. not even a lambo can do whta this piece of engineering can... koenigssegg agera and nissan gtr are my favs!!
of coruse this stretch is way to short. it was meant for the 0-200-0mph, not the topspeed. But then again, look all around Sweden. there are more than enough roads to hit topspeed on. The SSC did it in merely 2.5miles, lol, even my tiny country has a stretch that is more than 3.5miles long. Aventador: 356kmh, autobahn. enzo: 363kmh. autobahn. 9ff: 409kmh on papenberg. Even the CCR did its TS on nardo.
@300bruninho Agera R is estimated to go around 440km/h. Never tested the car to the limit though. Volkswagen wont lend their track to Koenigsegg cause they're afraid they wont have the fastest car in the world.
@IStrenghtAndHonorI okay, i know in germany it is "ehra-lessien" but i meant normal public roads. the a3 between frankfurt and aschaffenburg is a good place. 4 lanes and from monday to thursday 2 in the morningn it is possible but still a risk is there. :D
Yes the Agera R stability is outstanding, but I have to say the Michelin Pilot also did a outstanding performance of grip!

Great reply man! McLaren F1 still holds the NA fastest World record! Truely amazing! Especially when u consider its debut in 1992~~~
Anyone know why the koenigsegg engine sounds similar to a high performance american V8?
+Andrew Agustin because its a V8 engine?

Why no downshifting to help slow down quicker? Or is it because a tad of shift lock would start to happen in this test and cause unwanted effects?
Honestly, i haven't seen the Agera R, Huayra, Veyron, nor F1 for real (nobody owns them in my country because import tax for foreign car is +-300% the price e.g: An avendator cost 0.9-1,1 million USD. It's just a subjective list of cars that i like not limited to super cars but well... almost all of them are supecars (yes the GTR is NOT a super car). Yes the Mclaren F1 was made in 1992 so it is outdated now, but still it is legendary. Btw, your from Sweden, Thanks for Agera R man, i love it :)
@borthwey 'because the engine is bolted directly on the chassis' not to be mean but what else would it be bolted to for stability?
let me define what is a tuner car vs a production car.
@azel6 how in any way is the bugatti safer? Koenigsegg's car is actually the only supercar that has passed crash tests that normal cars must take.
@MrTemjin The Agera R's interior is gorgeous go look up the white one they did, it looks space age. Its gorgeous.
i was refering to the other thing, not the wing.
"All Agera models are limited to 375 km/h in standard mode, but can be unlocked by Koenigsegg for shorter periods of time, if all necessary conditions are met, such as road condition, tire wear, service level of car etc. The car is set in full speed mode by unlocking the top speed mode in the Infotainment system.:"

@Drew62293 did you get that comment off another supercar video, kinda old..
Cant beleive the Venom video didnt use GPS?
@theanoyingpanda It actually say Agera R, but the R is in red and it clashes with the red dashboard, so it's hard to see.
@TheJusticeCross 9ff 1200 : "Test Drive Porsche 9ff GTurbo 1200 Part 4 - flat6 TT 1 200 HP / 113 mkg - 0-100 km/h in 2.8 s / 0-200 km/h in 7.1 s / 0-300 km/h in 14.1 s / Topspeed : 414 km/h / 100-200 km/h in 5 s / 200-300 km/h in 7.5 s) - Weight : 1 390 kg"
i.e built from scratch.
on the other hand, a tuner is a car which can previously be driven which has its parts changed.
@ATsUduobleT
you cna hear from the sound of teh 2nd run the wheelspin was only from 50-80kmh, after than it stop.
there are many places in the world where the Agera can reach 430kmh.
@300bruninho so what your saying is that the Agera R is the fastest car in the world?
@300bruninho were did you find that information, just want to know.
He goes right, the G dot goes left. He goes left and the G dot goes right... as you'd expect, right? So why when he accelerates, does the dot go up? I thought it would go down
DigitalizedElements No idea
So you dont have to go down the gears when you come to a complete stop with flappy paddles, it automatically does it?
if you down shift as you brake would you slow down faster? that's what I do in autocross. or is he not doing that for a specific reason.
ferrari fxx may be put on the street for pr purposes.
ferrari states that fxx can only be leased to owners within the confines of a track. so no one can drive them outside on the road.
Cool video bro! :)
of coruse this stretch is way to short. it was meant for the 0-200-0mph, not the topspeed.
Even the CCR did its TS on nardo.
ok. Thanks. Comparison vid on the way. Stay tuned!

Koenigsegg Agera WIN :)

2:40 RUN 2
4:57 RUN 3
5:30 Fly-by
You're welcome :)
to put things in perspective, this car does 0-300 km/h and back to 0 again, in less time than the veyron does from 0-300km/h
@LTJBLTJB
Exactly. People dont know that the calculated 1/4 mile time from this run is only 10.7s.
@300bruninho Agera R is estimated to go around 440km/h. Never tested the car to the limit though. Volkswagen wont lend their track to Koenigsegg cause they're afraid they wont have the fastest car in the world.
the veyron has an 8 liter w16 with 4 turbocharger the car engine by it self produces over 3600hp u think some little v8 is going to beat that ?
@IStrenghtAndHonorI okay, i know in germany it is "ehra-lessien" but i meant normal public roads. the a3 between frankfurt and aschaffenburg is a good place. 4 lanes and from monday to thursday 2 in the morningn it is possible but still a risk is there. :D
