Bruce Gandy performs live at The Music Room for the launch of The Bruce Gandy Bagpiping Development Society. Recorded March 19, 2011. Video by Playmaker Films Audio by Robbie Aggas
i belive these are 1886 mac dougalls with a sheepskin bag and ezeedrone reeds. ive been playing for 20 years and played many sets and the sound from this bagpipe is the best i have ever heard. period. those drones are as smooth as silk.
RJ Houston. kurt 1698. My husband once saw a set of old MacDougalls in a Scottish themed pub in London. They were nailed through the drones to the wall ! Needless to say, he left immediately.
Alex, when is the album coming out!? I would love to hear more of your style, and variations, things like the high F strikes and the high A triplets/birls , which make the tunes like that D jig so inspiring and so refreshing!
You can find it his father, Bruce Gandy's book Contemporary and Traditional Music Volume Two (and the first very cool suite - Starburst, again in Bruce's book, Volume Three this time).
This is one of the best bagpipe performances on RUclips. Been in my playlist for over half a decade and it never gets old. Rock on Alex!

Hats off to Alex Gandy for the stunning rendition of the The Lark in the Morning, which he made completely his own! Awesome!

Aye definitely but its his playing combined with the mastery of setting the instrument up that really make for such a unique and minted performance
I thought they looked like MacDougalls. Seamless blend between the bass and tenors.
Those are some of the fastest fingers I’ve ever seen on a chanter. Amazing job!
Beautiful piping.

I've watched at least 20 times and it never gets old. Puts a smile on my face. I hope to be at least 1/2 as good some day.
11 years ago?! You’ve become nothing but better!
Listen to those drones! So deep and solid! I love it!
Yeah, I love a full bodied drone sound, this was my first time watching this particular video, it sounded so good it brought tears to my eyes.
Wow! Best drones I've ever heard and to see his fingers fly so precise are the the notes.
