@@MMAoracle true, but if jakob raced it without this weird forced ego contest/rivalry he would've stayed on the inside, would've given himself a chance to still get a bronze and forced hocker to follow kerr going past rather than having a separate path to the side and in the last 50m, being behind someone on the kick compared to having a straight path is a death sentence essentially

Lots of people are hating on Ingebrigtsen, but if you look at the possible scenarios, none of them are in his favor.
    1. He takes the front at the start like he did but uses too much energy; the only way he could win is if he stands out by a very big margin to the rest of the field.
    2. He saves his energy and tries to win in the sprint, but he doesn't have the fastest finish.

I completely agree with this. In my opinion Ingerbrigtsen biggest weakness has been his mentality in these races. In the interview with Norwegian television afterwards, I was pleased to see Jakob not being a sore loser this time. He said that he started too fast, as he overrated his own shape a little. He said this was because he felt really well and thought he could take it all the way to the finish. Until he suddenly couldn't. I don't know if he could have won if he had run a little slower the first two laps, but he obviously thought so. At least, he didn't blame anything or anyone but himself, and even gave credit to the others who played their cards better than he did. More like an adult. 🙂

The similarity in results from the 100m and 1500m is striking. Men's 100m = Lyles #1 with the best top end speed because of the 200m, Thompson #2 with a lot of hype coming in, Kerley as the second American with the clutch #3.
Men's 1500m = Hocker #1 with the best finishing speed similar to Lyles, Kerr #2 being a heavy favorite/hype (more hype than Thompson I think but similar vibe hype), Nuguse as the second American with the clutch #3.
And both races left the previous Olympic champions in the dust, although Marcell Jacobs wasn't gonna win, while Jakob actually came in being a heavy fave. (It's weird with their name too, Jacobs and Jakob lol)

@@acct5910 He gets slowed down by QUITE a bit. You can see him going into the kick just before he gets slowed down and its another few seconds before he was clear. I struggle to think how its not a WR with the speed he had given an extra few seconds at that speed.

Kerr: I’m the best in the world!
Jakob: No you fool, I’m the best!
Hocker: Wanna see me do something funny?

I've seen Cole Hocker on the scene for a few years now. Whenever I watched him race, I could see that he is a fighter but he always came in 2nd or 3rd. So I formed an opinion of him as being just not quite talented enough to get it done on the big stage. Cole, I apologize for doubting you. You are a champion! Congratulations for winning it all on the biggest stage!

Best 1500 race I’ve ever seen.
Jakob fan boys are saltier than the ocean right now.

Why he's a gold medallist millionaire while haters celebrate in their basements.
Kerr lost his only chance at gold. He'll be replaying this in his head for life

Thanks so much for your videos. I am in awe tonight and I wouldn't even have any idea of what was going on if it wasn't for your stuff. I don't know when I've seen a better race, ever.
