    Thanks for the review Rob.
    It’s great to know that the ADF is duplex too. I’ve looked at certain sellers online blurb where they reckon it only scans one side at a time.
    Just one thing though, will it also do CD/DVD labels? I know some printers don’t like them.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад +1

      Hey Delano, I haven’t done that in a few years, so I can say for 100% certain. I know HP claims that they “print on the widest variety of media”. Address labels work, so I would think CD / DVD labels would too, but I don’t have any sheets of those to test it out. I they’re packed away in my moving boxes. lol. If I come across them, I’ll test it and let you know for sure. I would feel ok buying it for that, because I’ve used HP printers for that, just not this model. If their older model could do it, I would hope this one could too. Thanks for the comment.

    Thanks for the info in the video. I've been trying to decide between the 9015 and 9025 to see if the 9025 is worth the extra $100. Does it pull the paper in and out to print on both sides? Does it have to wait for one side to dry before printing the other side? People have said that the 9015 is exceptionally noisy. Do you find that? Can you use your computer to print or do you have to use the touch screen every time? Thank you so much!

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад

      Hey Pamela! Yes, the page will come out partially, then it sucks it back in to print on the other side. It’s pretty dry right when it comes out, and it sucks it right back in within a few seconds. I’d say it happens at a decent pace. It might be louder than other printers, but I don’t have a decibel meter to test it. It doesn’t seem to be any louder than the others in the stores I’ve worked in as far as I could tell, but there’s also more background noise in the stores and is probably. I’ve definitely never been bothered by mine. You can print from lots of different machines. It has AirPrint built in, so you can print from a Mac, iPhone, or iPad. I print to the 9025 with my windows 10 laptop. I don’t know if you could get drivers for an old machine running Windows 7 or 8. The windows 10 software also includes some OCR software (optical character recognition) which means your computer can turn those scans into text you can edit in a word processing program like Microsoft word or google docs. You can also print from android phones and tablets, but many of them you’d have to install a free app called “HP smart”. If you also have a chrome book, it doesn’t run Windows, so unless they’ve made an app for chrome books, I think the only way to print from those is to email what you want printed to your printer. (HP gives you a free email you can set up for your printer if you want it).
      I hope this helps. Maybe I should make a quick video showing some of this? Thanks for the questions.

      @@rob-toolsandtech2521 Thank you! I had just about decided when I took a look at the consumer reports rating. The highest ratings were 81 out of 100. Mostly the Brother machines were at the top. the 2 HPs had a a score of 50....not recommended. Maybe I should look at Brother again. I'm worried about the learning curve with a totally different system after having HPs for many years. My current one that just died...or was killed. is a photosmart 2575. It's been great.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад

      Yeah, you definitely could. Brother has been around a long time too. They are known mostly for lasers. How much do you print, and what kind of stuff? If you want to do pictures stick with inkjets, but if you print lots of documents and don’t mind the up front cost of toner, laser printers are usually quick and save in the long run if you print a ton of stuff. Whatever you get, make sure they demonstrate it working with the types of devices you want to use. I’ve had a lot of people tell me they can’t get their phone or tablet to work with a lot of printers, even though the box says it does. So, just make sure they show you. If you have anymore questions, let me know. Let me know what you get and how you like it.

    I would like to know which printer is newer the 9025 or the 9020 Also is there differences. If so please tell me . Another printer I am lookig at is the 7855 please tell me what you think. I want the best photo printing from which of these machines. I know to buy a Canon if I was all in like when I was younger. I still love printing a great photo. Thank you. Charlie

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  3 года назад

      Hey Charlie, great questions. The 9020 and 9025 are the same just different model numbers.because some stores want to be able to call it an exclusive. It shows up in WiFi and the smart app as “HP officejet pro 9020 series” or something like that. I always wonder if one of the reasons stores get different model numbers for the same product is so they don’t have to price match. lol. Since you are doing photos, yeah, cannon is known for them and they make great photos. It can get pricy with the cost of ink and how much of the cartridge a normal 4x6 photo takes. The printer manufacturers claim a certain number of prints, but those claims are based on a test (I can’t remember the name of right now) that uses way less ink than a photo. So you’ll get a fraction of what they claim with the cartridges if you’re doing pics. You could go for the envy photo 7855, it does good pics. What I’d recommend is the Tango. I got that for my mom, because if you sign up for instant ink photos are free. So, I bought her the printer and I pay the $3 per month and that gives her all the ink she needs. I’d wait a few weeks and they’ll probably offer several months free with the purchase of a printer. There are a few catches I should mention.
      -other than the photos, the plan only gives her 50 pages per month. So, if she wanted to print a bunch of other stuff, she could end up paying $1 for 10 more pages. She never even gets close to 50 pages though.
      -if the phots are larger than 5x7 they count toward your 50 pages.
      -if you print the pics from a pc (instead of a phone or tablet) it will count toward the 50 pages.
      -you still have to buy photo paper.
      So, my mom takes photos with her phone mostly now, and most of the photos she prints are 4x6 so she can print as much as she wants from her phone and all it costs her is the cost of photo paper, because I’m paying her $3 per month for the instant ink plan. I’d recommend waiting a few weeks and when you see it cheap, grab it. Hopefully you’ll get a few months of instant ink free too.
      The free pics thing only works with the tango for some reason. The downside is that it doesn’t have a scanner, or a screen on the printer, so all the controls are done through your phone or computer.
      If you need a scanner, I’d go with the 7855, because it will do good pictures, you just won’t get the pictures for free like with the tango.

    I have the HP Officejet 9025 and I am unsuccessful printing envelopes or 5 x7 documents. I get error messages. Tray 2 doesn't have a guide at the bottom to keep the paper or envelopes in place so the printing is off. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  3 года назад

      Yeah, it’s kind of weird that they put that tab in one drawer and not the other. You might want to put your regular paper in the tray 2, and put your smaller stock in tray 1 so you can use that guide tab. Make sure you have the long edges of the envelope or paper along the sides of the drawer, and the short edges parallel with the front and back ( top and bottom) of the drawer. Make sure the side tabs are adjusted to. They should touch, but not be so tight to make the paper bow upward. Make sure the side you want to print on is face down. When you close the tray, make make sure to select the type and size of the paper. I hope that helps. Good luck.

    Hello, I know this video is old but I was wondering if you can help me with mine. Is there a method for the printer to sort the scanned documents by date? And can you please show how you got the AirPrint to work? Thanks in advance.

      @rob-toolsandtech2521  2 года назад

      Hi, yeah, I’d be happy to help anyway I can. I’m out of state right now, so I’m not near it to make a video, but maybe ai can help here in the comments. When you scan something with the HP smart app, it puts the date in the file name. Are you scanning on your phone or on a computer?
      For AirPrint to work, the printer and the device your printing from have to be on the same WiFi. So, if you’re trying to print from an iPhone, make sure both are on either the 2.4ghz or 5ghz network. If one is on 2.4 and the other one is on 5ghz it can keep them from connecting. Also, make sure your phone has WiFi turned on, of course, if you’re printing from your phone. If WiFi is turned on both the printer and the device you’re printing from, then your router could be stopping communication between devices on your network for security.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад

      Hey Abby, the official specifications From HP say it can do up to 110 lb card stock. I don’t have any to try it with, but it is rated to handle it. I have made cards using one of HP’s greeting card kits (it seems like they’re just 5x7 photo paper with envelopes included) and they’ve turned out good. I think generally printing on matte paper will probably look less vibrant than glossy paper. The paper in the kit I used seem like medium to high gloss. You could try changing the setting in whatever software your using to see if it helps. Depending on your software, you might have a setting like “vibrant” or something like that. If you’re using a windows 10 computer, after you click print, there is link in blue letters that says “printer properties”. You might want to click that and dig around in there to see if changing things helps. Just remember what you change so you can change it back if you need to. Als, I reckoned only changing one setting at a time usually just to make it easier to remember what was changed. Also, when you close the drawer, make sure on the screen of the printer, you choose the paper type and size. That should help the machine adapt to print best on that paper. Good luck. Thanks for the question.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад

      Hey Sanja, I don’t know of a good way to do that. I think if I was going to do it, I’d probably load letter size in one tray and legal size on the other. Then when you go to print, in the area you select what pages to print, you can type in the pages you want to print separated by commas. Like this 1-4,9-12, 15-20 then you go back and print the other size by doing the same thing 5-8,13-14. Then you put them in order. The other thing you can do if you don’t have time for that is print all pages to legal size. If I remember right, they don’t get distorted, you just end up with white space at the bottom of the letter size PDFs that are printed on legal size. There might be specialty software that pulls a few pages from tray one, then pulls some from tray 2, and goes back and forth automatically as needed, but I don’t think Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat reader will do that. If you find a way to completely automate that please let me know, I’d be interested in learning about it. I’d probably make a tutorial video.
      BTW, is the spelling of your name a European spelling? I have relatives with similar spelling.

      @@rob-toolsandtech2521 Hi Rob, that is an option but it wouldn't work if I'm trying to print multiple documents of at least 80 pages (of mixed sizes paper) per PDF. Sorting it back in order would take too much time. I called HP tech support and they said having the printer recognize the sizes from the PDF is not an option for this printer. I've exchanged it for a Brother printer, laser. that's what all the videos said on "Loan signing agents" which is what I'm trying to do. New printer should arrive August 4th. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out the settings on it. I appreciate you looking into it and trying to help. Yes, my name is European. I'm originally from Bosnia.

      Cool, Laser printers are good if you’re ok with the initial cost of toner. They usually cost a lot, but you also get a lot of pages out of the o es you buy. The ones that come with the machines are usually just starter cartridges, but at least it should be enough for you to be able to figure out if you like the printer or not. I can understand, organizing all those pages would be a pain. I’ll see if I have an legal size paper to experiment with. I’m really curious.
      I’m not familiar with loan signing agents, but it sounds like a lender. If you know of any lenders who do lower amounts for real estate investors, I’d love to find out more. I see good opportunities here in my town, but many of the houses can be gotten for less than the minimum amount that places like Lima One will do. I don’t know if it’s changed or not, but they told me the minimum amount was $75,000. So, I’ve passed up deals on places for like $40k or $50k, because they don’t lend that little amount, and all the local places tell me they don’t do loans on residential houses for LLC’s. It’s been a while though. Maybe it’s time to make more calls.
      Cool, I have family from Ukraine with similar spellings.

      @@rob-toolsandtech2521 No worries! So I bit the bullet and went ahead with purchasing the 9025e. Instant Ink is offered free for 6 months if one signs up for HP+ program; this offer is the sole difference between the 9025 and 9025e and I've not taken them up on it thus it's not locked to the II carts. This is a GREAT printer! From its plethora of features to surprisingly decent photo print I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Only minor annoyance which was also flagged by the guys at RTing reviews is the scan from the ADF comes out tad skewed no matter how careful I am when inserting the document. Oh this thing is a beast..lol..perhaps due to its 2 trays Otherwise I'm glad I got this printer.
      Tip for you Rob: when inserting the ink carts, the ADF mechanism can be raised giving you better access than if you just lower the front panel. You'll see an arrow pointing up near the screen indicating the assembly can be raised.Thanks for the video which was instrumental in my decision. Cheers!

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  2 года назад

      That’s great, I’m glad you like it. Come to think of it, I think I’ve had that issue with the ADF too. I don’t use that very much though. I had a printer back in college that would skew the prints a little. I think maybe the little rubber rollers get where one side grips better than the other for some reason. You would think that would be something they would calibrate in the factory. I think in my case of my printer in college, it probably was my fault. I may have tried to put some old dirty paper through to print on, and maybe it affected one of the sides more than the other. With scanning on this one, it sounds like it must be something off a bit in the design. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it.

    Thank you for your video view. I was planning to switch to another manufacturer after over 10 years faultess service from my last HP All in One, however I couldn't resist the temptation of £60 cashback on the OfficeJet Pro 9020 model. I did my research on Instant Ink and decided it was not my thing and opted out from the outset, along with disabling all the web services stuff.
    The cartridges are incredibly expensive and as it is still relatively new printer I do not believe there are any 3rd party cartridge options available yet - plus HP has been guilty in the past of shennigans around blocking the use of 3rd party cartridges. Still there may be options available by the time I deplete the initial cartridge set.
    Despite all this I am very happy as a home user with my purchase and this is signficantly faster and quieter than my old model. Printing from my iOS devices is a breeze using AirPrint.
    Finally I prefer the physical keypad of my last model as opposed to the touchscreen.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I don’t blame you. A deal is hard to resist. I had an issue with the web services. Google updated their security and broke scan to email. I can still scan it and mail it as a 2 step process, but not a single process. I haven’t used that much anyway though.
      I wish ink was a lot cheaper, but the instant ink works for me, so that helps.
      Yeah, AirPrint makes things butter smooth.
      Yeah, I like the touch screen, but I can understand preferring physical buttons. The smart air conditioner in my smart home tour is a pain. The buttons don’t respond all the time. I’d much rather have physical buttons on that.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад +5

      Hey João, The 9025 is bigger.
      The 9025 is a bit faster. It can print 24 pages per minute rather than 22 pages per minute. The input and output trays can handle more paper at a time. The duty cycle is the number of pages a printer can print per month without breaking down. The 9025 is rated for 30,000 pages per month instead of 25,000. The 9025 can read more file formats from a USB drive like Microsoft Word. The other OfficeJet pros can read JPEG, and PDF, but not word files. The 9025 also has 2 input trays, so you can keep plain paper in one tray and something else, like photo paper or envelopes in the other tray so you don’t have to switch the paper in and out of the same tray whenever you need to print on something different. Thanks for the comment. I hope that helps.

      @rob-toolsandtech2521  3 года назад

      Hi, yeah, I’m still pretty happy with it. It lost a feature, but it’s not really HP’s fault. Google won’t accept a connection to the SMTP server for gmail from printers anymore. They claim it’s for security, but it’s probably so you have to use google services and they can serve you advertisements. I used to use a feature where I could put something on the scanner and hit “scan to email” and it would just send it to whoever I wanted from my gmail. Now, you have to scan it to your phone, computer, or tablet, and then email from that device. It was cool to not even need a different device. If I remember right, HP claims about 250-300 pages on standard cartridges (measured by the iso standard). They say the cartridges it comes with are standard size rather than those starter cartridges all the manufacturers use to use. I couldn’t say if that was true or not, because I printed a lot of different things like pictures, greeting cards, business cards, flyers, etc, so it’s hard to say what I would have gotten had I just done normal prints. If I had to guess, it’s probably about right though.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  3 года назад

      You’re very welcome. Yeah, that sucks. A laser printer should last longer than that. The eco tanks aren’t a bad choice either. They seem like they could be a good option. The downsides is that I I heard are that it’s not the same smear resistant ink that Eason puts in their cartridges, and they don’t seem to have a lot of features. I’ve also heard that once you set it up, you want to be very careful moving the eco tanks once they’re filled. I always wondered why they never seem to have the demo units plugged in and working, ready for sales people to show to customers. With those you have a huge upside of cheap ink and no monthly charges to worry about. I have had Epson printers before, and they had excellent print quality, but their cartridges got expensive for me. I think the eco tanks would be worth a try, but I can’t vouch for them personally since I’ve never had one.

If that’s the case, when you close the printer drawer, it will sense the drawer being closed and will show a message on the screen. There will be two buttons on the bottom of the box. Hit the one on the left, and select the type and size of paper so it knows what it is printing on. If it’s grabbing the paper at all, still make sure to choose the paper type on the screen, because it may have a way of adjusting that mechanism to pick up the cards better. I’m planning to do a video answering questions, so I’ll see if I have any cards to use to show this on the video. Also, I’ve found with many printers that adding more cards could help. Sometimes printers don’t seem to grab as well when there’s not much paper in it. Also, make sure it is pushed all the way back to the back of the drawer. Let me know how it works out.

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  3 года назад

      Hi, yes, it sure does. In order to put it in the drawer, you pinch a little release lever that lets the drawer extend a few inches. The only down side to the design is that if you want to leave the longer paper in the drawer, the drawer will continue to stick out a few inches from the front of the printer until you take the paper back out and ouch the release lever to shorten the drawer again. So, if you want to leave the longer paper in there, the drawer will just be sticking out. I hope that helps. Good luck.

    Does it have a Bluetooth that I can connect to my iPhone without the need of WiFi ..?

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  3 года назад

      Hi, it using a connection called WiFi direct instead of WiFi, because it reaches farther than Bluetooth. So you don’t need WiFi at your house in order to print to it. Of course, if you have WiFi in your house you can use that instead, but you don’t need WiFi. It will create a direct connection between your iPhone and the printer. So you could take this to a cabin or somewhere that you don’t have WiFi and still print from your iPhone. What’s cool is that it has AirPrint built in so you can print without installing the HP app on your phone.

    How do you receive faxes

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад

      Hey Edward, if you have a landline, you just connect it like a regular fax machine. But just like a stand alone fax machine, you phone line you hook it up to needs to be able to transmit faxes. I know in the past the phone lines Comcast and charter provided were VOIP based and you had to pay extra for them to enable it. But just an old fashioned telephone line works just fine from what I hear. You can also try HP’s fax service, or a paid service like efax. The easiest and cheapest way is if you already have an old fashioned telephone line, people just send the fax to that number. Businesses usually get a second line for faxes, so they can send a fax and talk on the phone at the same time. If you do that, the phone company will give you a new number for that second line. Then people fax you at the new number, and call you on the same number they always have. Thanks for the question.

    What is the difference between Officejet Pro 9025 and 9023 ?

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521
      @rob-toolsandtech2521  4 года назад +1

      As far as I know they are exactly the same. They do the same pages per minute in both black and white, and black and white and color resolution printing and scanning are all the same. I know sometimes stores will insist that brands have a different model number, that way they can advertise a product as exclusive to that store, and they don’t have to worry about having to price match since it is a different model number. So, I’m nearly certain they are exactly the same.

      I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like the 9023 is sold in Africa. If that’s the case, maybe it’s only sold there? One website has it listed for R3,999.00 which it looks like is the equivalent of about $250 with current exchange rates. I’d say grab which ever is available where you are. Best Buy’s price is $329 right now, but it comes on sale a lot.

      Once you click print, you’ll see a box where you can select which printer you are printing to. Right below that, there is a link that says “printer properties”. Click that link. A box will pop up. There will be 3 tabs at the top of the box. The middle tab says “paper/quality”. Click that tab. The second option from the top says “Paper source”. By default “Printer auto select “ is selected, but you can change it to Main tray or tray 2.

      Hey Thelma, let’s see if we can figure it out. If I remember right, there is just a piece of cardboard held in by a couple pieces of tape. If you removed that, and there’s no other tape, it should be able to move, because I don’t think there was a lock to hold it in place during shipping. Let’s isolate the problem. What happens if you hit “copy” on the printer screen? Does it give the same message?

    • @rob-toolsandtech2521

      I think this is probably the easiest way to make it forget your password.
      Slide your finger down from the top
      Hit the gear icon
      Hit network setup
      Scroll down to “restore network settings”
      It will pop up a box.
      Hit yes
      I’m pretty sure once you set it up and tell Windows how you are connecting, you’d ha e to redo the set up if you wanted to change how that computer connects to the printer, but if you wanted to print from a phone or tablet, you could do that even if the printer is connected to a computer through USB, as long as you have it connected to the same WiFi network as your phone or tablet. I’d have to mess around and try it to be 100% sure, but it seems like I tried it once just to see what would happen. Let me know if you want me to try it, I can test it.
