    I am replacing a 38 year old weedeater so you know I am able to repair and maintain one. The first this I noticed on this machine was the awesome quality. This machine is built like I would build one, with lots of overkill built in. Instead of a "speedometer type cable running in a plastic guide, it has solid steel shafts with 1 inch splines on each end. This is running in bearings not plastic. Mine starts with only pulling the cord half way one time. The included hedge trimmer and pole saw have actual grease fittings (zerks) which I have never seen on one before. Everyone says that this machine is heavy. Set up as a weedeater/brushcutter it is 1.2 pounds heavier than my 38 year old brand name one plus it has 42.7 CCs compared to my old one of 24 CCs. This engine is quieter and quite a beast compared so I am more than happy with the minor extra weight. If you add the extension pole and a pole saw, of course it gets heavier. But you raise it up, cut a limb and bring it down. You aren't swinging it for an hour at a time either. I used the weedeater for over an hour and a half straight in a months growth of grass and it works like a champ. Most small engines only have a half crankshaft supported with a bearing between the pull starter and the engine. This one has a full crankshaft with bearings on both sides with the pull starter behind the engine. This causes less vibration. After running my old machine for about 30 minutes, my hands would shake for about an hour afterwards. I ran this one for an hour and a half straight and no shaking at all afterwards. In my opinion this machine is built equal to or better than any commercial machine on the market at a very affordable consumer price.

      The plastic fast reloads and bump head for my echo works really well. I have used the same echo and head for the last 3 years and the head is still intact. I just bought a new one yesterday only because I am too lazy to clean the carburetor.

    Another video points out that the string that comes with many trimmers and even that on store shelves is often quite old. It suggested soaking new string in water to rehydrate it and restore its flex. I have not tried this yet.

      Sounds like a good idea. This string was okay though.

    I have a similar model, and in the directions, it says to grease the angle transmission and drive-shaft before first use and then every 15 hours. However, it's not very clear how to grease the drive shaft. Do you have any advice?

    • @NicholsCounty
      @NicholsCounty  22 дня назад +1

      I image you'd have to take the shafts out and put grease in there. I've never done it, mine still runs fine.

    @Nichols County is this unit very heavy? I'm debating on getting the 26cc unit instead since I've heard that the 42.7 is very heavy. What are your thoughts?

      Yeah I like it. It's powerful. I keep it at work to take care of small trees that pop up in the gravel. But I'll be bringing it home here soon to use more around the yard, as it's that time of the year to do some yard expanding.
