- Sig Shonholtz appraises a Clara Bow anklet, watch and note in our new episode, Vintage Los Angeles! Do these items still have the "it" factor today?
Fifteen years after visiting Los Angeles, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW takes a look back to see what some of the most memorable appraisals are worth today. Some items have increased in value, while others haven't fared as well. Tune in to see items like Disney animation art, a 1906 Van Briggle vase, and a Tiffany lamp that was first appraised in 1998 at $30,000 to $40,000 and is newly appraised at $50,000 to $75,000.

Shockingly lower than I thought considering it's Cartier, very old with the original Cartier signature, in decent condition, and was owned by Clara Bow.
I am not as experienced as you but also thought it was undervalued. Both as a watch and as it belonged to a historical figure. Wonderful,interesting provenance.
This is pretty epic. Clara Bow is the original diva.

Does someone need to update the Clara Bow biography now? Who is the Daniel Friedman?
The watch has Cartier name on it but it was made by Movado, as Movado factories written on lower part of the case for Cartier. These Ermeto models were very popular back then. In 2021 this watch would be a lot more valuable. Clara was an amazing actress. I don't believe she even had any formal training to be an actress.

Her demeanor seems to indicate that she doesn't care about the story of the pieces as much as she just wants the appraiser to cut to the punch and tell her the value because she has every intention of selling.

Once again a watch appraisal video with incorrect/incomplete info. I am no expert, but the Ermeto - this one appears to be the Baby model based on the size, is a Movado design - it is even stamped on the caseback in the close up. Movado sold rebadged versions to Cartier, Tiffany etc who added their name on the dial. This one also appears to be missing the chain loop in the corner too.
@mike A more like I know a fair bit about watches but am not paid for my opinion on watches like this AR appraiser.
If we consider the low estimate ($3000), she multiplied her original investment by 115 times. :|. (11500%... So 11400% profit...)
$26 well spent.

Morally and legally that loot should go back to the family
I was thinking the same thing. Usually buying or possessing stolen goods is a crime. If her estate wants the items back and have proof they were stolen, which the proof is in the letter that was read on national t.v. then they should be returned to the estate. I don't know the limitations on the statute she said she bought the things a week prior tho so she could still be made to give the items back even if she didn't know they were stolen when she bought them she's still liable to return them no matter how long they were missing. Now if Clara had those things insured and received payment from insurance for them I'm not sure if she's entitled to them still. It would be complicated I'm sure for the estate and the lady who has them now. I wonder if anything happened after this show aired.
Ya, let's spend a million bucks in court to do that.

The really weird thing is that if you go look at Clara Bows picture you will discover that Clara Bow looks exactly like this woman.Its uncanny.I think this lady is a relative of Clara Bow.Or This is Clara Bow reincarnated..When I researched this the hair stood up off of my arms.
