I own both of them. When my job required standing outside doing survey type work in the arctic the Snow Mantra was the best for the job. Once our measuring methods changed it was too warm but the Expedition was perfect. The fleece flap you showed is to keep your neck warm and for keeping the cold out if the zipper wasn't all the way up.

Great video. That one flap you said might be to hang the jacket or use it as a shoulder strap is actually a holder to tuck in the neck gator that goes across your neck and face when you aren’t using it. The straps on the shoulders you weren’t sure about are there in case you get buried someone can grab them and pull you out.

How long did you have the snow mantra parka for? And did it get damaged at all from so many years of use?

Do you think the Snow Mantra and Expedition fits the same? I’m a S in Expedition but it’s a little big on me. I’m in doubt if I should go S or XS in a Snow Mantra.
I’m 5’9” and weigh 160 lbs. what do you think?

@@flexingblog8717 okay thank you for answering. I just tried on a friend’s XS Expedition, and that one is too small across my back and shoulders. Would you say that an XS Snow Mantra would be too small as well then? Based on your expertise :-)

@@flexingblog8717 i borrowed my friends who has a PBI expedition in -14C temps and I got cold in the upper part of my back, near the neck. Feels like there is less down fill around where the 'Expedition' tag is on the back. Considering reaching out to Canada Goose about this. Also some cold spots in the sleeves, probably between the down filled baffles. You sure you haven’t noticed?

I’ve had both. I like the Snow Mantra much more. First of all, the Mantra gets the bragging rights because it is the warmest coat they make. That neck gator is great. There is a fleece lining that runs the length of the zipper that is really nice. The fur ruff is a little bigger and nicer. As he pointed out, the hood is more adjustable and one is able to zip off the fur ruff when it is raining, you are cleaning the jacket, or if you are worried about the fur being damaged. The sides zip up on the Mantra for when you want more flexibility when say riding in a car.
