I’m so happy every time I’m reminded of that as a kid it always pisses me off and I thought it seemed ass backwards and all my friends said no. I said ultimate sort of by definition means nothing is above it.
My favorite digimon since I was a kid! I love the tandem between gomamon and palmon!

It is kinda funny that such a big and intimidating digimon evolves into such a cute small digimon =)

I think Vikemon is more appropriate for Gomamon's Mega form because he resembles Ikkakumon and Zudomon more.
I agree, but Plesiomon also really resembles Gomamon too. 🤔

I'm honestly surprised there's no mention of his MarineAngemon evolution. Going based off the old Digimon cards, that is what I thought his Mega officially was for years until Vikemon surfaced.

Plesiomon is Gomamon’s Mega/Ultimate form in the WonderSwan games so that’s the line that was originally intended for him. Vikemon evolved from Shakkoumon which, admittedly, makes zero sense so eventually they repurposed Vikemon as Gomamon’s main evolution due to how similar Vikemon is to Zudomon.
There is something that always bothered me when it comes to Gomamon's evolution lines. His evolution lines are either water or ice. So which of the Ten Ancient Warriors' powers did he inherit? AncientMeraimon because he is an aquatic Digimon or AncientMegatheriumon because he is also a mammal type Digimon?
What are the odds gomamons species could be descended from both?

I really wish one of the shows would have him evolve into Plesiomon.

Did Gomamon originally have Marineangemon planned as a digivolution back in the original Adventure series? I vaguely remember around the time it ended, there was information that Lilymon would become Rosemon, Garudamon to Phoenixmon and Zudomon to MarineAngemon and thinking it weird that it looked nothing like Zudomon but resembling Gomamon

Gomamon has one of my favorite Digimon designs. It always made me sad seeing how Joe treated him sometimes in the show! But Im glad for his character development! 😊
I think it's because Joe being oldest of the Digidestined is mature while Gomamon is a michevious goofball. There's definitely a contrast in personality between those two.
And when he finally got Gomamon to digivolve to Vikemon it was like coming full circle for their relationship.

I'll always wish the anime had gone the Plesiomon route. No offense to Vikemon but I like that Plesiomon has a calling card to it's earliest stages. But then of course zudomon is kinda out of place
Are you kidding? Vikemon makes more sense because the ‘Vike’ literally comes the word ‘Viking’ and Zudomon literally wields the Thor’s Hammer, as in, it’s named after one of the gods the Vikings worshiped.
Finchyay Vikemon was intended to be DNA evolution of Zudomon and Shakkoumon, whereas Plesiomon was the original ultimate form.
i agree with you, i love vikemon, but i love plesiomon more...it has a that misterious and ancient aura that is just sooo cool, and the strong resemblance with gomamon makes it better, and on top of that, it can evolve to the amazingly powerful aegisdramon!!
I agree. In Digimon Adventure, I would have preferred Plesiomon. Vikemon seems more ice-oriented than aqua-oriented, and there is already Metalgarurumon. Plesiomon looks more of a sea creature. Haven’t seen vikemon swimming either.
Plesiomon doesn’t look impressive enough design wise. It just looks weird while Vikemon looks like it could crush anything. Marketing wise it made sense why Plesiomon wasn’t used

Can you please tell me why you keep referring to mega level digimon as ultimate form? I always thought it went from In Training to Rookie to Ultimate to Mega to “Ultra”
Because I use Jp terms and it goes... Baby, Child, Adult, Perfect, Ultimate.
Also ultimate literally means the last or final, so oddly enough the English translation uses the English word ultimate incorrectly 🤔

Rumble arena is based on the old anime where they stopped all the other digimon minus agumon and gabumon's forms. The new series allowed them to have their last form like all the other games had.

In Japan, mega level Digimon are called ultimate levels
No need to confuse yourself, past and now and then we always call Ultimate level in ORIGINAL JP term not “mega”.

Plesiomon was the V-Pet mega for Gomamon. Vikemon was made an evolution for Shakkoumon actually, weirdly making it a canon mega for Armadillomon... Basically, Plesiomon came first, Vikemon followed. Fans and even bandai preferred Vikemon in media. Digimon have many possible lines though, so Zudomon could become Plesiomon.
