    I love Shannon Miller's commentary. She's got the perfect balance of enthusiasm for the incredible moves with gentle critiques explaining why the deductions are coming in.

    Seeing the teammates get so excited at each others’ performances is so sweet. They train so hard together; can’t imagine how rewarding it must feel to see your friend/teammate succeed in that moment! 😄

    I love Shannon as a commentator..poor Yamamuro-san..knew the foot was badly injured and was hurting terribly when he couldn't even limp on it but didn't know how severely..however, finding out he broke it confirmed it.

      Kohei is amazing but It was terrible dismount. Disastrous. Shouldn’t have got the silver. They had a fall on vault as well

    Things I did not expect to learn: German men shave their pits. So do at least some of the Ukrainian men.

      I found that interesting too!! Its pretty... strange? To me at least it is I haven't really heard of men shaving their armpits especially for a competition

      hopeworld _ common in swimming to reduce friction where milliseconds can make or break, but in gymnastics... ? Lessen body odor??

    i feel so bad for Ukraine but i like that the Japanese gymnasts didn’t celebrate a lot, they probably have empathy for the Ukrainiens

      Japenese are so salty. Kohei fucked up that dismount on pommel horse. It was terrible. They should’ve got 4th with Ukraine having the bronze and GB HAVING THE SILVER

    I feel for Ukraine and GB but then again if the correct score wasn’t given in the first place to Japan, then it’s the coach’s job to inquire about it and it’s only fair that they get the correct score

    The culture differences are funny to watch. At 3 minuts when they introduce the british standing next to the germans you can see that the germans all have shaved armpits while the british dont.

      I can assure you that that is NOT a thing that's generally done in Germany. I think this was just a really "groomed" team (for lack of wording), they were all really aware of their appearance - look at the haircuts and stuff.

    The 2 1/2 twisting yerchenko for the men is worth 6.6 but only 6.5 for the women

      I believe the vaulting table is different heights for men and women

      Yurchenko entries are harder for men due to table height being higher. This is why men prefer Tsuk or front handspring vault more.

    Молодцы, мальчики!👍💪 Конь - очень сложный снаряд, как бревно у женщин, а на кольцах чень трудно "погасить" раскачивание, но эти снаряды прекрасно смотрятся, особенно для спортсменов интересно сравнить свои комбинации и то, как выполняют другие, какие ошики допускают, всё это учитывается.

    2:44:54 That doesn't make sense. Isn't the deduction for a fall 5 tenths? So if they add that back-- after all the form deductions the botched dismount warranted-- I don't see how they can possibly raise the score "nearly a full point".

      I think they did not add back the fall's point deduction, but didn't give him the full value (d score?) for his dismount, which is why Japan protested. Seems fair to me. Not a gymnastics expert though

      If you think about it. He wasn’t given credit for his dismount which is a composition requirement. So he was missing .5 from his D score then the .7-1.5 of deductions. Getting that .5 back plus the difficulty I would imagine of .5 that makes the deduction .2 instead of .7 which makes the difference.

    Okay but like China’s form is not even close to Japan’s form. With a lot of China’s members in their twisting, their legs aren’t glued together and the form is messy .... they have good difficulty but execution is not as clean as Japan’s

      There is a qualification round where teams get qualified, and only the top eight or top five countries get qualified to the team finals.

    Is it not suspicious to anyone else that like a quarter of that judges' panel were Japanese? I'm still trying to figure out how such a terrible performance by all three guys on the pommel still earned them silver. It was even worse than Germany, and Germany's performance knocked them out of the competition from the start.

      Clayton Hurdle you’re not taking into account it’s not just one apparatus, they did well on the other five apparatuses which secured them a high enough average. As Shannon said had the judges scored correctly from start there would be no issue. Germany was taken out because they were weak on the other events like the USA who were first night one. I don’t believe half or quarter of the judges were Japanese, where are you getting that from?

      They do try to have judges from different countries from the ones competing as to not create a bias. So you saying that a quarter of the judges were Japanese is stupid.
