- On July 31st, 2023, officers were dispatched in response to an ongoing shoplifting incident. They were informed by the caller that two females were attempting to remove tags from merchandise and conceal them in their purses. Upon being approached by the officer, both individuals became agitated and were unwilling to cooperate. The females were not ready to cooperate with the officer and began arguing with him. The officers arrested the female as soon as they were sure she had stolen merchandise. Soon, the female officer found her car keys. Here’s what the woman told the police. The officers found the missing merchandise, with tags removed, near where the female was standing. The female was charged with resisting arrest and theft.

They are gambling the cameras aren't being monitored. Which, by the way, many are not. Or if they are, not closely. Unless, of course, they have a certain demographic in the store.
It's all an act. "Who, me? On camera? Can't be, I was home in bed" type of thing.
It's more of a calculated risk because they know that if they're being loud and raise a giant racial stink they'll probably be let go.

I’m had this happened to me in forever 21. They called different stores and said I was stealing and called the cops. Mind you I paid for everything. They went to the camera and looked and seen I never took anything. They started apologizing and said the reason was because I didn’t put hangers back in the correct spot and I kept going to the dressing room. I was trying on clothes, wtf?! Plus I had a mini purse that could only fit a wallet & cellphone. Needless to say the staff was fired and I have a case for racial discrimination.

I got falsely accused in my teens. They held me at the back even tho I was a minor and when they realised they were wrong they couldn’t stop apologising. I wish I knew my rights back then. I couldn’t stop crying.

you can see the tag remover hanging on the keys. its on the second set of keys, the metal curve thing is what goes in the sensor hole to unlock the locking mechanism on the sensor. pause it at 7:57 you can see it. she's guilty.

The cops and the security person didn't have all of the steps (They only had two of them). So they should have let her go and told her not to come back to the store. This is what we called a "Bad Stop". She could sue the store and maybe (Strong Maybe) the cops.

I remember working in retail and a clerk accused a shopper. Cops asked the same question...why would they lie?
Months later the clerk and LP got arrested for organizing theft in our store. It was embarrassing seeing the LP get walked out in cuffs.

No one EVER saw her with any items or on camera. They even said she took it to a car, did they search a vehicle 🤔. Whether she stole or not, the male cop handled this wrong. He didn’t detain her first, he straight up placed her under arrest and charged her with theft without looking at the cameras first and the female cop had to correctly explain it when she’s already in the back of the car. Then they don’t have evidence of the products she stole on her presently. He just says “it’s long gone” by now.

@@loubock3238 Unfortunely she was right. The cops and the security guard did not have anything on her. They did not have the evidence and they did not see her take anything. Not saying that she didn't take it or knows who took the product but there wasn't enough evidence to arrest her for shoplifting. The best they could have done was to tell her not to come back to the mall.

This case is confusing and I work at a law firm. How did she get arrested and charged for shoplifting, but there was no video of her taking anything? She allegedly went to her car with the merchandise, but what was in her bag? They can’t prove that it was the merchandise. In the court of law is not what you alleged, but what you can prove.

I work at a grocery store and it is SOOOOOO BAD! People stealing laundry detergent, alcohol, cleaning supplies, candles, Starbucks cups. Just walking in with empty bags, fillin em up and walking out. An we cannot do anything or else we will lose our job. It’s insanity.

Possibly attempted shop lifting but you have to physically leave a store with stolen items before you the charge can be actual shoplifting.

Unless there is footage of the tag remove or video of her disabiling security tags there is no way to be sure that those tags on the floor weren't already there. Im always amazed by the hundreds and hundreds of body cam footage on RUclips of people stealing from Walmart and Target. Walmart/Target has cameras customers don’t even know are there. They have facial recognition. WHY WOULD ANYONE STEAL FROM THEM?! 🤦♀️

i believe most people have money to pay for items they need versus what they want, but either dont want to spend money on the item because they dont agree with the price or they just get high on stealing in general. what one person finds cheap , another finds too expensive to pay for, wether they have the money or not. some people steal to sell on ebay or mercari or let go for a side hustle. i dont agree with stealing , but people will do it , regardless.
