Ryogen, he died on 18th September 2017 for a cancer.
He had been fought against the cancer in during last few years.
As you can see from this performance, he was a young,
very talented guitarist and a musician.
I hope many people will remember this artist, and the performance
as much as possible.
R.I.P
OMG!!! Is it true??????
He was so powerful... life is cruel sometimes...
Yes. So sad.
I think so too. I have no words.
Maybe if he was good at guitar he would still be alive.
This guy created an entire world in 5 minutes, absolutely beautiful.
What rubbish are you taking
Austin G I get you, it was just magical to become lost in his world.
I couldn't agree more!
This guy destroyed an entire life in 5 tattoo sessions
@Psyop Beats why the disrespect? Pedals are just pedals. The artist brings them to life.
The fact he is playing while fighting cancer in this video means a lot to me. Doing what he loves - not focused on anything else. Sharing his passion and music till he couldn’t anymore. Beautiful music, beautiful soul. May I meet you someday, somehow, somewhere brother. May your music and passion teach others as it has taught me. Thank you.

all the thumbs down are sad to see. I have been playing guitar for 22 years and this guy may not have the most virtuosity I have ever seen but he certainly has his own style and is creating a mood and expressing himself in a very honest and beautiful way, and his use of electronic looping is seamless. I can tell he has put a lot of time into developing his craft.
The last guitar bender
Daniel Walker kkkkk
The last note bender
😂
Daniel Walker hahahha
best cmmnt ever😅😅
f**k lol
Lmao
Hahahahah first laugh of the day I honestly couldn't watch the whole thing because of the delay...
he's creating the whole universe and the whole ocean just by playing this. uniquely played, beautiful song. bravo! r.i.p Ryogen
When the guitar becomes an extension of your soul!
O Randy...
Thats what Slash wrote in his biography. Something in lines of: "And the guitar became what it always supposed to be - an extension of the player"
I closed my eyes and as I listened, I could picture an underwater world full of life and color, the sounds of whalesong and dolphins singing, bubbles coming out of air pockets, and I was a passerby watching this world float past me, man. This was magical.
Let's be real here for a second: yeah he is using pedals to get the sound but have you guitar players forgotten that they're just tool. Listen and watch closely or have you forgotten what that was like when you first started learning? Get a sense of his timing and rhythm, his techniques, and more importantly how he simply isn't playing but creating something. It's not all technical. People forget too easily that playing an instrument looses all purpose when the player doesn't add something of their self to what they do. And that goes for anything in life. So be real: this guy is phenomenal and if you could do half of what he can then congrats. Be proud of yourself but stay humble and learn even more.
we forget twoo things easyl humble & learning my friend !(shame)
The guy is a genius. Plain and simple.
Well said
I've been rocking every guitar I could get my hands on and in my humble opinion. This card was a genius many guitarists are perfectionists to a fault. its in our nature.this fellow may be using effects most of us do unless your frigging tommy emanuelle so this man wrote music here that I've just discovered and will be playing for years to come on Sunday mornings with sir Elton and esperanza Spalding thank you very much
Very well written, and those tattoos are something else.
Creativity lives in our minds and can only be presented to the world through people like this, it's nice to know there's people in the world who haven't forgotten that.
I must be high... Cause I am tripping out on his wicked skills playing the guitar, feels like I am under water listening to the harmonic sounds of dolphins
Sebastian Hine Dolphins, make senses cuz the song title is deep blue.
True I felt the same way
Sebastian Hine yeah its called vibing with the music
you dont need drugs to do that 😎
Yea, I need to come up for breath ;-)
He is telling a whole story with only one instrument! Hypnotic, unbelievable and impressive at the same time!
RIP - 🙏
Alot of people don't realize that playing super clean and precise (like he is doing here) takes waaaay more skill than "shredding" a million notes per second! RIP Ryogen
Both things requiere a lot of skill
@@Exterlina2 fr
But it's not fully clean
But a lot of people do. 😉
Wait
As mentioned by some he has recently passed away, only 11 months after this performance.
Fighting against cancer he lost his hair, and I believe since then he has gone into the idea of body painting.
Putting the fact aside, I feel his music is truly coming from his inner soul. To me he was and still is a true artist.
Anybody who has a say about the style should search “ryogen guitar”. Often he was more aggressively percussive and that too was fun to listen or see.
By the time of this performance he should have been aware his condition was far from perfect. However even after this date he kept on fighting and performing until the very last moment. I can only respect for the guts he has shown.
Sorry for the long post but I thought there are things worth mentioning.
R.I.P. Ryogen. I hope your music continues to live in one’s heart.
Fete din bordelurile din anglia și franța t
I'm Brazilian and I don't know then. Awesome song and performance. RIP
Wow... how sad and unfortunate.
Very melancholic & melodious.. May your soul R. I. P...
I thought it was real tattoos , very inspiring story and person RIP
What a good example of how there is beauty in simplicity.
This is soul music. You're not bored. You're relaxed.
When he started to hold the guitar..
Feels like his body, music, soul, guitar fuse together to create some magical or something amazing when u close ur eyes..
Thid guy is a legend..
rest in peace. You will make great music in heaven.
Seriously, where are people hearing this? I can't find confirmation anywhere.
A phenomenal player. This music will not mean much to casual listeners. Only the ones who plays the instrument knows what he is doing.
And indeed it is phenomenal. Beyond words. Totally one of a kind. Not just the technical prowess that he has, but on top of it ,he adds his own story + emotion + feel + depth and dimension to an experience of the vast water body deep inside where life just blooms in its totality.
I just knew recently that he died . He played magnificently beyond words.
First time hearing this. What an incredibly talented young man Ryogen was. May he R.I.P.
A guy, musician, like no other. So sad he is gone and his unique and beautiful music. I come back here often, close my eyes and fly through limitless space of the sky, surrounded by Ryogen's sounds.
This one of those pieces where you lie down, close your eyes, and let your mind wonder and escape the world. A beautiful piece of music, takes a good musician to create something with complex techniques, takes a great one to create a piece of music which captivates people. Loved it
Exactly how I felt!
I closed my eyes and as I listened, I could picture an underwater world full of life and color, the sounds of whalesong and dolphins singing, bubbles coming out of air pockets, and I was a passerby watching this world float past me, man. This was magical.
A stirring performance. Those cosmic sonic sounds with those guitar chords. Crying guitar strings. A beautiful balance. All the visuals, including Rogen’s tattoo work help attract to the performance. Bare foot on those pedals. Sensational work.
Had to download his two albums! This guy is amazing
Someone who manages to be different, in a world simply brimming with players of every kind... that alone gets my respect :-)
This fellow is really inventive. What an amazing guitarist.
Such a listened musician. It's our loss that he isn't among us any more. His music is lovely. If really doesn't matter what tool you use, his music is lovely. Respect to you bother.
As a death metal listener... I approve. this is some soothing, unwinding beautiful music! this is REALLY GOOD.
alot of metal has small clean part :D
Me too, as a metal maniac, I'm amazed!
Haven’t seen an ovation be used this way before. Amazing
Just to let you people know, this young man, who just loved playing the guitar and didn't hesitate at all to share with the world what he's got, died of cancer.
If you have time to be sarcastic, use that time to go out there and express yourselves and show the world what you have, because while some may criticize you, there are also others waiting for that gift you have!
Aiko Umeda ....
RIP
Truly gifted
Well, I suppose no information on this is provided in English. It's on his official twitter in Japanese. Other musicians and artists who worked with him have talked about it on their websites, tool, so it seems to be very true that he passed away...sadly...as far as I consider all those articles in Japanese.
Aiko Umeda awesome statement and so true
Just feel what he said from his spirit expressed through his guitar, priceless
I just came across this mesmerizing musician and my heart is truly sad that this beautiful guitarist is no longer living, but I will always be grateful that I was blessed to have listened to Ryogen create his music to his own guitar beat.
As I've watched for the first time. This belongs to my playlist! Genius.
I have just come across this clip..so creative and mesmerising..very sad to learn of his passing..a beautiful soul who will be greatly missed
I've never heard a sound like this from a guitar before. It's amazing.
This is a treat for your ears and eyes! Love it all
He really immerses himself in his music, very complex sound effects skillfully performed to sound like bubbles of water rising and animal sounds, the man is brilliant. R.I.P. Ryogen, lost before your time.
So special that he is gone but his music lives on...incredible performance.
Brilliant creative energy and musicianship!
I love how he made the sounds like burning something with fire in the last seconds! Extremely impressive! 💯💯💯
Amazing performance, R.I.P., we remember you bro
The reason most people love music , pick up and play instruments/sing and learn music is because of the "joy" . Watching the visuals crafted toward the vision of the music and istening to the music here was a very Ecstatic and Joyful experience.
Thank you Ryogen
He come from other time, or other planet? A beautiful spectacle!!! Sound, picture, space and emotion, 4D - strong!
I'm in love with you, Ryogen, thank you for this guitar performance.
Sounds amazing! I hear the Boss Tera Echo leaving a huge fingerprint on this song.
Real musicians don't bash, just enjoy.
isn't that true.
Emanuel Sadowski Geghardyanc Lol lol. Lol. AMEN!!
Thank you. So true.
I was transfixed... far more important than being impressed.
I'm a solo violinist.....that means I have no problem playing in the sympony among many other things.....and I bash,....when I see to much ego and no talent.....when I see faking....I give credit when it's earned.....but music goes in levels, just like,e school,or karate...?so ,you are where you are.....practice your scales,arpegos,excersize,studies,caprice,Bach.....and the pieces will come .....learn exactly what's on the page ,after that you can make stuff up.....find out what level you are in the sylibus....and go from there...and dedicate everything you do to Jesus....
real musician can bash too... real musician use everything and instrument and any sounds has value. Even bashing. just not all te time like in punk :) be precise or else you show you dont know anything about music
There is a lot more going on here than a lot of the cynical musicians in the comment sections are appreciating. I've been playing guitar for 20 years and am a guitar teacher at a music school and I thought the song itself, the use of visual art, and the tasteful application of electronic effects made a beautiful piece of work here.
Similar situation here. In my humble opinion, this is about the mood, not the means.
Agreed. I have been a guitarist for over 30 years and I this music was done wonderfully. If a person really wants to find out how many years it would take to develop this skill as a whole, I would love to see someone replicate it!
lmao, this guy is hiding behind massive chorus and reverb. anyone can make good sounding music with chorus, reverb, and delay effects.
amen 😂
Ryan James o
This guy made his guitar more than what most can do. I like this and I'm inspired to create with my guitar today.
Amazing! Talk about being one with the guitar !! Heart
And Soul !! 🙏👏
Absolutely Amazing!! The most BEAUTIFUL pieces of guitar music I have heard in a long time!!!!! I wish i could have heard of him in his living years!!! Bravo,Bravo!!! Ryogen May you Live on and Rest In Piece!!!...... xo
The comments lol. He's on stage, you're not. Bunch of back seat drivers that critique everything.
Some thinks he sucks, some think he is the next coming, the audience is the consumer they can critique as they please.
Amen to that, something I hate about the internet: Everyone should NOT to be entitled to an opinion.
@Big Brother muppet
I think this is a beautiful performance, you hear the sea and the sounds of it. Great.
Thank you for your art performance courage and contributon Ryogen.
you don't pick up a guitar and say I'm going to play this song today. this airbender is incredibly gifted
It was meant to happen Ryogen. I'm so glad I was able to meet you and to hear your music. Thank you!!
Feels like I'm being pulled into a realm of tranquility. Thanks for sharing a piece of your soul. RIP
Wow, beautiful. Loved it. So sad to hear he is no longer with us.
Awesome sound!
Absolutely incredible. No rules. Just straight from your kokoro.
*KOKORO* INDEED:-)
beautiful.
Amazing, it was wonderful, it's as if nature itself is infused in the sound coming out of the guitar... Brilliant.
Imagine being at this performance; sitting there watching, listening and feeling this music... no words in a RUclips comment could describe this... 凄い、お疲れ様。どうもありがとう、Ryogen-San
On acid! Lol
Really cool
Very artist. Love energy on this song.
Gorgeous. Flawless soul music. Thank you for sharing of yourself my brethren
was an epic Guitar exhibition... he made it sound like a unknown instrument!!!
Rest in peace, and thank you for sharing your gifts, Ryogen.
This underwater guitar effect can be achieved with the tera echo by boss. it's also included in the multi-effect pedal, boss ME-80 which might be what he is using.
What I took from this was a great reminder: There are no rules! Wonderful thank you
sublime🙏❤
Damn...i was elsewhere floating in a parallel world. This guy is awesome!! Listen with your eyes closed
The music envelopes you with the feeling of depth and mid buoyancy This is art. Amazing.
i was listening this on my Lsd trip and this guy just took me to some other dimension!! I love this !!
WOW this is simply amazing.
Incredible playing !
Feels like a new kind of art : Guitar meditation
this is not new at all there are many people like him doing this...check Estas Tonne he been doing this for a long time
I'm a big Estas Tonne fan, can you make a recommendation?
+Michael I highly recommend Buckethead. "Cruel Reality of Nature", "Remember" and "Whitewash" are good songs to start with.
@@yomommastupid estas tonne isn't even nearly similar to him...
You left your mark. Amazing creation!
I could tell this piece is the creation of creativeness - artistically played music . The sound will take you somewhere when u close your eyes and feel the melody, u will imagine you’re with nature. One of the most amazing things ive heard in my entire life!! Kudos to this artist!
Me too . I like YANNI, BACH, Himekami, until I heard his music, I was deeply impressed by him, his music transcends the shackles of classical and religion, and involves the most fundamental things, just like miracles!
ギター好きには、たまらない!
Outstanding guitar skills and his ability create moving textures along with the techniques he's using is impressive. The only thing I hate is the scowled disinterested looks 90% of the audience gave.
So pleasant I can listen for whole day and never get tired.
Expressing his "uniqueness"...being in the moment....being who he is, doing what he loves...how beautiful is that! May we all learn, that it is ok to be "who we are"..no judgement...simply loving the being! Thankyou!
I closed my eyes... when i opened it i saw fairies and unicorns.... Thanks for the little break from my world of chaos and uncertainties.
This is Jigen when he activates his curse mark. Relaxing music though hehe
Absolutely amazing. What an artist 👏👏👏👏❤
I find it beautiful! Thank you!
Damn it that's so clean
I saw this performance 5 years ago maybe 6.....im still listening and i can't still figure out all tbe notes .,.. better then tim hension...this is hard......
Tim Henson is one of the most repetitive players I've ever heard. Very over rated in my opinion.
Wow totally amazing sounds like i never heard before so talented 🙏
My only regret is that it was not longer.
Rest in peace, sweet Ryogen.
Reminds me of the DIABLO soundtrack.. from WAY back in the day.. remember?
Wow... This was incredible. I can't believe how so many see this as just delay, echo, and other effects. Watch again and pay attention to the artificial harmonics he's doing as other techniques as well to make something that sounds so simple, yet complex and very beautiful. Deep. This guy should be on CandyRatRecords with the rest of their roster imo.
you're kidding, right?
where between Andy McKee and Tobias Rauscher will you put this "incredible performer"?
William Jones 8
I dunno man. I'm not convinced. I found the digital effects overpowering and unnecessary in places. Also: the poor tone of the piezo pickup was really distracting when he was actually playing stuff.
I agree with a lot of people on here. Yes it's pretty... but it's not complex. My first thought when he did artificial harmonics was... "I want to hear those with the effects off to see how many he is actually achieving." The delay is set so that it sounds a lot more complex than it is. If you watch his picking hand, it's really not doing much. That's why people are making jokes about the head swirl getting him the gig. :)
That being said... I still enjoyed the music very much.
Ryogen is not just a guitarist he's an artist! RIP!
Beautiful integration of music and technology.. Flawless execution. And nice outfit!
I'm not a guitar expert so if people that know better regarding guitar are saying he's doing a "basic" job, well, okay.
But this guy is freaking talented. The whole composition, using more than 4 notes, the atmosphere, the mastering of the instruments... Well, everything is composing the music, doing the same kind of job than Mozart or Bach.
If people like what you did, then you've done great. Music is sharing and this guy has done it very well.
Sure he might not be objectively super skilled. But I don't think that was the point. I think it was more sound design and atmosphere. Which at least I think he nailed.
look up his other stuff he's very skilled!!!
Not super skilled!?! You are joking yea? This guy is absolutely amazing and to even think not is just ridiculous!!
This takes me somewhere else.
Not complaining
Beautiful to see THE POWER OF CREATION IN MUSIC...LORD BLESS HIM TO CONTINUE....
Rest in peace ryogen..
Bargz
The kid was obviously on pins and needles nervous yet kept it together enough to creat a psychedelic underwater mindscape. Very cool.
funny what you think is obvious.
@@esci85 funny what you think isn't.
@@jonathanjackgoodman2764 Well, Not like you i didnt asume anything.
You think you know because Hes got tattoos?
The love of music, perseverance, and creativity leads every guitarist his success. Constant practice and exercise brings perfection. When someone reach the top, never forget to look back where he started. Aware of his health condition maybe, then thats the time he put all his soul in music. It's worth remembering, may his soul find eternal peace.
Beautiful work. Bravo.
i'm a guitarist and i love this ! wow !
Vanny Tonon dinghy r
even if i know how to play guitar, but i can't even know his style, it's Amazing !!!
Me too
Vanny Tonon, what does your playing have to do w liking the song?
