It's true yours tutorials are the most useful for compositing. Unfortunately in studio we work without 2d Supervisor, and it is difficult to achieve good quality alone.. Personally I always try to find tutorial that help me to improve artistically my shots...
Yes Position pass is there i have to switch to P pass for picking the color then the bubble is appearing. Also I am working on The Creator which you have provided.

for apmatte to work make sure you have position pass selected
