After so many hours in the editor, and finishing a submarine right now, this video is still very enjoyable. Easily understandable and very friendly for people intimidated by the editor. The things I would like to add for beginners: - Better to not finetune the Hull and Gap sizes, as it can mess up lots of things if not careful, and there is a gap or overlap. - Try to keep wall, door and hatch positions snapped to grid for easier modifications and fewer problems. - Neutral ballast lower than 0.5 lets your sub ascend faster, larger than 0.5 lets you descend faster. - Shift+RMB and "Select matching items" is extremely useful to find items (like unlinked vents) that are hidden somewhere. I spent several hundred hours in the editor without realizing this button is there and getting angry on a missing vent. - Disconnecting a wire from an item connection creates the dangly bit, that can be double clicked and reconnected to another item. Useful if wires have a complicated path and don't want to redo it. - Status Monitor has a setting to turn off the need for oxygen detectors. - Powering up Diving Suit Lockers and oxygen shelves recharges the O2 tank in them.
Hey, quick question I am trying to practice for neurotrauma and i can't seem to be able to choose the class i spawn in as when testing, even though i need good medical skill to be able to do things. How do i change my class to medical officer for testing? (ps: i'm using a map for neurotrauma practice)
Can you make custom submarine sprite tutorial? I want optimize the structure count of some sub in workshop that I do like to add in my campaign run, the sub in questions had too many structure and slowed down the game to unbearable level.
thanks for the guide ! even after making my own complete sub in the editor you made me realize there was a bunch of things I was doing very inefficiently or features I didn't know at all !
Freaking love this game, managed to figure out the sub editor a few months back and I'm still working out the minor intricacies. The price of vessels being established by hull size + machine count + item quantity makes it possible to build absolutely anything on a 10k budget. Anything non-valuable, such as decorations or walls, can be added with zero repercussion. Transparency, hue modification, even texture warp means that an overturned washing machine can pass as a nuclear reactor core if you know what you're doing.
Awesome video mate. While I already have 300 hours in the sub editor, I can always learn more from The Master. Happy to say I did actually pick up a couple QoL tips I hadn't come across yet, and you've inspired me to finish the design of a new sub I've had set aside for a while now. Hi InitialDesu, on the amethyst sub video I asked to your opinion on my sub, I forgot to mention the name. So here it is: Militia L-02 - Assault. Have a great day!
You can also name the hulls (Bule boxes) to room names. So example when using the warning icons on a room it will mention the rooms name. For example "there is a leak in the [room name]".
Thank you @InitialDesu for such great tutorials, just 1 question... 19:16 How do I know what power every device needs? And after upgrading stuff while in game, how should I calculate the optimal power for reactor and consumption with the upgrades on?
In sub editor click on the device, in the right menu slide down, there should be power consumption value and minimal power required values. As far as I know upgrades for pumps, engine etc. does not increase power consumption
Well it is quite good video hope you keep the good work up and i made some systems you may wanna see some of them are quite useful they need to be always rebuilt for different subs to make it fit but they are quite easy to understand and very compact
Can you create and save modules to copy and paste like if i wanted to save an auto reactor set up or complex electrical systems can you save them and add them into other builds?
Can you do a guide to transfer sub files between computers? Me and my friend want to work on a sub together, but not at the same time, we'd like to transfer files back and fourth and fine tune eachohter's changes. Thanks a ton for this video.
I wonder how much will change with this tutorial once the rotating pieces update goes live (it’s in the next unstable branch patch). Waiting to make my first sub when that hits, as the sub I have in mind can really benefit from rotatable items.
@@muhammadjuansyarin1596 never done it myself, but I think there’s a pop up in the main menu talking about it if interested. I think Undertow Games’ discord also has instructions on how to do it
i know this is a basics guide and all but please dont start with the shell first, youll end up changing it if you do unless its some hyper specific thing youre doing like a recreation
the relays won't work :( i wired up 10 junction box and hooked them into a reactor along with a battery like you're first junction box and power was going through all of them so I put the relay into all them at different times and it won't allow my lights to work :(

Very good comment, the first 2 tips are essential, in my case at least hulls tend to warp and become uncontrollable when i fine tune just a little bit

what do you mean by "fine tune" hull sizes?

This is probably the longest video you've ever posted! Thank you for spreading the knowledge

Quick, to the point, and informative. You even time-stamped everything.
Glad that you like it
Excellent masterclass 10/10

oh my god... wow!
Wish i had this video a year ago. Great rundown of the basics
3:03 😳😳😳 good taste
Thank you for this, because of this video is was finally able to build my first sub
I appreciate the video. even I, as a somewhat experienced sub builder, learnt a couple things. Keep up the good work.
personally i wouldnt have sped up the video honestly but i guess thats what the slow down option is for this moves really fast
A guide on components would complete this into a nice package
On my 3rd sub already thanks to this guide. Thanks for making it possible for my ideas to come to fruition!
So much great help here. Thank you
Thank you, master. Now I'm gonna create my great Honk submarine!
30 минут... Наверное один из самых сложных видео у тебя на канале!
I wish I watched this before making my first sub. I want to start again now.

The video is excellent ! There is a question about adding an image. You can add it, but how to remove it now?
When in image editing mode, select it and press del
Sincerely thank you
Thanks to this I am making a horrific sub for you
Ультанул. Смотреть не буду, но уверен что труд очень достойный, тем более когда человек упоминает про "neutral ballast level"

I keep watching this hoping to get some inspiration, but i keep scrapping sub designs.
Creativity is strange, five days after this I just finished a sub design (currently in trials) and I have another in the works
Hi, tell me how to remove the image. So I added it to remove it now how?

Love your vids. :) Slava Ukraini!
the relays won't work :( i wired up 10 junction box and hooked them into a reactor along with a battery like you're first junction box and power was going through all of them so I put the relay into all them at different times and it won't allow my lights to work :(
Relays are a bit finicky. My sub is mostly relays and I had to rewire or replace some of the few junction boxes to get relays to work.
So, for some reason my junction boxes overload/underload and dies. It's my first sub so i have no idea how to fix this
Nevermind, somehow i fixed it
After all this years...

i placed my bilge pumps and powered them but they wont pump any water
in pump editing menu activate *is on*, or check again if your wiring is correct
