This is all very true. I think they update security measures everywhere. It's definitely a place you wouldn't want to be in if anything ever happened because if one goes off, it sets off the whole area as they're all linked. I agree John, the whole world is getting a wake up call as we speak. It's easy to see it with all the floods and fires that happened this year. The question is will we all come together and do something about it.

The interesting thing about those mud pools is that some of them contain a variety of substances (e.g. arsenic) such that if they were located in a factory in an urban location would require monitoring by a governmental environmental department. I suspect what you were smelling was hydrogen sulfide gas.

For us it was the first time we had seen anything like this. Really fascinating and the smell was only in certain areas so it wasn’t too bad.
