It's nice Sam still has the same reverence he had for him then and it's still present.

    So interesting.
    My favorite guitar player.
    Thanks!!
I asked the soundman at a Mud Island,
Memphis,Tn. show if Mikey had any rack effects at FOH and he said that he used a Space Ghost.
During the show,he showed me what the Space Ghost added to Mikey's live guitar sound.
I miss Mikey and very grateful I got to see WSP hundreds of times.
I remember waiting for Everyday to be released.Still my favorite album.

Thanks so much for this video Sam and Co. And to all the WSP crew. I was fortunate enough to see Mikey in Salem, VA 99, at the Landmark Theatre in Richmond, their one show at the Hampton Coliseum and in Portsmouth. RIP Mikey. it's amazing to finally get a first hand look into what he had going on. Honest tune, Lingering Lead.

Great video. Back in 2003 I bought almost all this gear. I was such a Mikey freak. Still to this day those cabs and head are my favorite pcs. I sold the Tele plus I had but every time I crank up the Soldano I play Wondering and Going Out West. Man I miss Mikey my email is missinmikey2 still. Lol

    Thanks for the video Sam and Home Team/WSP ✌🏽 ❤️ 🎸 🎶

There used to be a website, guitar geek perhaps, that had a diagram of Mikey's set up. It had the pedals, amps, switches, wiring diagram, etc. The website no longer works, really wish I would've printed that...

That Nooga 01 is the only soundcheck I ever snuck into in 200+ shows. Sabbath jam everyone minus JB and JoJo. The freight train tone I remember but what about the chainsaw tone in Spring and summer 02? Did anything change equipment wise besides the Demeter and reverb unit?

Side note...the Wilkinson roller nut wont allow anything over 9.5 through the roller nut slot. It also has a Trem-setter replacing one of the tremolo springs to help tuning stability. Fantastic guitars, but very heavy because they are solid Ash.

Please, Sam. Talk me through Dave set up. I can't tell you how many times I've embarrassed myself playing air guitar trying to figure out what he's doing, then he sees me and shows me what I really need to be doing. God bless that man. Impeccably excellent. Truly humbling to see and be shown up. Les Claypool did this to me once. He saw me and straightened his fingers and played with the pads of his knuckles, gave me a nod and wink. What a showman. Anyway. I flick my bass, and I need to know how to make the gravy pour out of the speakers. I'm pretty sure Dave has like 14 1/2 fingers and a pack of rabid golems ooze the bass playing that has shaped my whole life beyond 5th grade.

@ this is great info, thanks for posting. i went back and watched some vids, and in 2000 Austin TX u can see the Kendrik reverb unit Sam presents in the video, in use. Mikeys sound to me always had a lot more trem/vibrato than reverb, at least since the SLO 100 in 1992. just more proof it was really the volume pedal and soft tail bridge on the tele. He always had killer tone, but 96-97 was absolute bliss. sit n ski, and all the smaller theaters. possibly he had the surf box then. would love to know one way or the other, somehow. just happy to have the recordings, in any event. many cheers

I agree 100% about JB's tone and all around involvement during the '00-'01 tour. He keeps the tone rolled so far off now. I think it may have to do with Jimmy's tone is awesome but he doesn't roll off to the jazzy tones that Houser would ofter do

    • @rdb5670

    • @tahcofan

i posted the same thing, someone replied and that reply was removed for some reason. essentially Sammy said the Surf Box was causing unwanted noise somehow, at some point. So he started switching to the Kendrick Reverb, like the one in this video. There was an old diagram online from Guitar Geek that showed both the Surf Box "or" the Kendrick in the loop. Mikey also had a second Volume pedal not discussed in this video. it came right out of the guitar before eveything, like a master volume i guess. so two Ernie Ball volume pedals and one Dunlop Cry Baby pedal. three pedals total, definitely .
