    Ok I'm sorry if this is a dumb question lol. But are ravens extremely common up there?? I mean I know they're not rare or anything but are they like everywhere up north?? I live in Florida so obviously we don't have ravens. I can hear them in the background in this video and it got me wondering.

    How close is too close? I think you were about there! Really enjoying your videos. I’m planning on some bear hunts from the ground this fall. I’ll be using a traditional bow as well. I probably have 100 questions I’d like to ask, but I won‘t-not all at once anyway. But I am curious if you carry additional protection like bear spray or a handgun when you’re on the ground like this with your bow. Or maybe you’ve never felt the need for it. Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Again, great videos. Thank you.

      Thanks Jimmy, in Canada we can not carry a hand gun. We often carry a shot gun for back up as it is legal to carry without needing to wear Blaze orange like if we were to carry a rifle. We also carry bear spray. Check out our other bear vids from years back, I had to spray some bear spray as a bear was pretty close and scared the shit out of me...

      @@gunshyarchery Thanks for the reply. Duh... on the handguns in Canada. I knew that. I'll look for the video you mentioned... or maybe I won't :) Again, enjoy your videos.

      @@gunshyarcheryThanks! Unfortunately I cant afford easton trad arrows but I probly could get the easton carbon legacy. Do u think those arrows would be a good choice for hunting?

    • @gunshyarchery
      @gunshyarchery  2 года назад +1

      @@sacredtoad2117 any arrow that shoots straight will work. The more expensive arrows are generally a straighter arrow and tighter tolerances for spine. Long story short, you shoot better with a more costly arrow shaft. Sadly.

    I'm curious as to how this is called 'hunting'. There is no hunting involved in these types of situations. Are the bears so illusive that man isn't good enough as a hunter to kill one, the same way he would a deer or a hog or a squirrel? Or is man just too afraid to go off into the woods and try and take an animal like this on its own terms? This isn't 'bear hunting', it's bear baiting....and they are not the same. But I suppose if one doesn't care about the effort, and only the end result; enjoy.

      To the best of my knowledge it's actually a good way to be selective on what bears you take to help better manage the population. It could be very difficult to hunt bears in areas like this without it. Every wildlife population needs good management to help the species as a whole grow. Taking mature bears leaves room for younger ones to grow and helps take care of overpopulation.

      @@nathansimmons8676 I agree every species needs good management to maintain a healthy population, I'm just wondering why man can't seem to hunt a bear like most other animals vs dumping candy, pastries and so forth out in the woods day after day until the animal is lured in. Is man not smart enough or game enough to hunt them like other animals...figure out their patterns, their natural food sources, movements, etc....are they so ghost like man can't figure it out otherwise? I'm trying to make sense as to why baiting is the means of taking a bear vs just going after them like we do deer, hogs, squirrels, ducks, etc.

    • @gunshyarchery
      @gunshyarchery  2 года назад +3

      So basically you see baiting as an unfair advantage. Fair enough statement. But where I live the bush/forest is too thick to spot and stalk. Patterning bears going to a food source is also difficult in such thick cover. Could use a trail camera I suppose.. but then we're back here at the unfair advantage stage... If I could spot and stalk bears believe me I would. And yes bear hunting over bait you do get to be very selective on what age you harvest. Bears devour baby moose, elk and deer every year. So In my opinion the best way to help out the other ungulates is to hunt and kill bears over bait, because it's legal. Shooting a bear in an open field from 200 yards while he eats blueberries, trust me, that is not hunting. That is an unfair advantage. In my opinion... Thanks for watching.
