Zoomies or Frenetic Random Activity Periods is the behaviour where dogs can’t control their energy and the most common way of expressing this is running. But except in this case running is an action controlled very well by dogs. Running turns out to be one of the most favourite activities for them. Dogs, those who aren’t lazy, literally die to run after you or whatever that gets their attention. I believe most dog owners are left breathless when left behind by dogs, this is because they have high energy, willpower and are curious about everything around them.

Not to take anything away from the magnificent Pronghorn, the pronghorn lives in open prairie where their speed can be fully utilized. Their eyesight is among the best on all land animals. I read somewhere ages ago that if a Pronghorn could read, it could easily read a newspaper headline over 1/4 mile away. Have a nice day.

Top speed varies of course within a breed. I had a Doberman who was unusually slender for a Dobie but very strong. She could run 37 miles per hour in a sprint. (I used to time her with a stop watch, real measured speed, not an estimate). All my other Dobies were speedy, too (I have had eleven) but none of the others were as fast as Freja, my 37 mph girl.

Thanks for this informative video. I actually knew about German shepherd and Greyhound running milage. But didn't on others. What really surprised me was my other favorite dog other than my shepherd is a Jack Russell's speed. Those little legs sure do go warp speed for a Lowrider. 😂🤗🤷♀️

there's a long legged one and the short legged one. the long legged I guess is the fast runner. they are both brilliant little dogs. in my world the JR is our protector. He senses danger long before it arrives and you can trust the prick of his ears.

Yes it's the long legged version of JR that's really fast, not the short legged shown in the video. JR's are raced in competitions at dog shows, so it's not like this is a secret. I have a 12-year-old long legged JR that still runs like he did at 2.

There’s no way a jack russel can run 38 mph. This video and 99% of similar videos on RUclips about the fastest dogs all seem to be based off the same list that they’ve found on google. That list has no credibility, gives no sources for its claims and leaves out many dog breeds that for sure run faster than some on that list.

I don't think most dog owners realize just how much energy most dogs have? Theres a doggy daycare on YT, the owner cares for up to 30- 40 dogs a day for hours. They go swimming in cold pool, a warm pool, chase zipline toy, chase guy on his scooter. And he does a bunch of other stuff and most of these dogs can just keep going all day. I knew dogs had spunk, but I had no idea just how much tenacity, energy they have.

What the video fails to bring to light regarding German Shepherds is that they were bred as a working dog to herd sheep/goats. They were built to run all day. The other major point regarding the huskies is that they are not a solo act. They are used in teams to run those great distances.
