      You thinking of Singer I imagine? Singer does make some beautiful 911 resto mods. Super expensive, but they are mostly all one off parts manufactured in house and made out of carbon, titanium, billet aluminum, magnesium, gold and Inconel along with full custom ÖHLINS suspension. I would love to have Their Light Design Model with the air cooled flat 6 pushing over 500 NA power. Unfortunately they are built for the high millionaires and billionaire boys and girls club. They are stunning to look at and drive. I would excited as well get a 911 from Rennsport and save a substantial amount of money on a very attractive 911. That's just my shitty 02 worth though.

      @@Peanutdenver....Everything you said is accurate. I occasionally see people criticize Singer for having such high prices which is ridiculously ignorant. Their work is amazing and as you said, they manufacture most parts in house using expensive materials. Each Singer 911 also takes around 4,000 man hours to complete. That is 4,000 hours of highly skilled labor.
      When you actually break it down, the cost of a Singer 911 is very reasonable for what you get. The 911 is this video is amazing but Singer is on another level. Just the difference in labor is astounding. This 911 takes between 900-1,000 man hours to complete and while it uses quality components, they are nowhere near Singer level. Obviously, this difference can be seen in the price. I would love to either one as they are both amazing cars.

      I don't understand mechanical nostalgia, so I'd rationally rather have a new one because it is objectively superior - but then again, you could rationalise it by looking at depreciation - the new 911 will lose value, this probably won't.

  • @4570duplex
    @4570duplex 5 лет назад +2

    I love the car but, even more so, I love Mr. Cockell's attitude. These cars are meant to be driven, dammit, and driven hard. And often. Mr. Cockell appears to be building very much a driver's car, in sharp contrast to a few others who seem only to be building for well heeled clients' bragging rights. A man after my own heart. And I say this as a guy who has put an honest quarter million miles on my own 1972 911 R tribute, 3.0 liter twin plugged high compression MFI inducted hooligan hot-rod. It warms my heart to see others unapologetically keeping that spirit alive. Well done, Mr. Cockell...

      The £100K quoted in the vid seemed a bit low to me, so I checked. Looks like they actually start at £160,000 ($208,000). The one in the video likely higher with the bigger 3.5 liter engine.

    Very cool cars! Rennsport has captured the essence of early Porsches - incredible driving experience, function first, no opulence.
    Singers have incredible build quality, but they also have an opulent prissiness. The interior of a Singer smells like an expensive lady’s purse.
    On the other hand, the $100K-ish cost the narrator mentions doesn’t sound right. Custom body panels, strip to bare metal & full paint, custom built engine with individual throttle bodies (throttle bodies alone are about $20K with ECU and tuning), new interior, etc - the scope of work doesn’t fit $100K. Based on mods I’ve done to my 964, I think in US dollars we’re looking at somewhere north of $250K (not including the initial purchase cost of the car).
    Great way to modify a an ‘80s 911, but let’s be real about the cost.

    Definitely sublime, if it was done on a original 2.7 RS as the guy said, then it would maybe be a sacrilege. Amazing that it's "only" £100k, I say only because Singers don't actually drive that well and they're half a million and more, then there's Workshop 5001's 911 that's more than a million... £100k is about the price of a new one so that's actually manageable

      That's including the 80's air-cooled donor car? if so, yeah, that's impressive for such a job

      @@juanmj93 Well if I understood correctly yes. Could misunderstood him because I'm not a native English speaker. But even if it's not including the donor car it's still much cheaper than the aforementioned cars
