Christian Hackenberg is the only quarterback since the 1970 merger to be selected in the first two rounds and never play a down in a regular season game
Devin Smith while at Ohio State was one of the most impressive deep ball receivers I’ve ever seen. He was super smooth and made it look easy. Too bad those ACL injuries ruined his career before it even started or he could’ve been great
Kyle Wilson was so bad I loved every minute he was on the field. Whether it was his "Just got burnt but the QB missed the throw" incompletion celebration or always being good for a penalty or two at critical moments of the game, he always made me laugh. He was the football equivalent to a puppy who can't stop pissing on your new rug.
I do remember him always celebrating or having something to say after the play but I remember him being a decent nickel back for us. Wasnt starter material though
Hackenberg let his mouth get in trouble because he said some bad stuff about James Franklin by saying that Franklin didn't know football fundamentals like the previous Penn State coach Bill O'Brien & Hackenberg admitted that he blew some plays on purpose.
I feel like this is as much of a problem of the Jets Coaching, especially on offense, than necessarily scouting or the players themselves. Some of these guys could succeed, but the Jets don't put their players in positions to succeed (in general).
That's Adam Gase for you. I mean just look at how many players flourished as soon as he left. Tannehill was viewed as being just a backup QB once Gase was done with him. And since has gone on to be one of the best QB in the AFC. Parker was viewed as a huge bust of a first round pick at WR. Only for as soon as Gase leaves Parker the very next year leads the AFC in receiving yards 1,202 and TD 9. Gesicki at TE was used as a blocking TE under Gase despite the fact that the knock on Gesicki coming out of college was he wasn't a good blocking TE but was a dynamic pass catching TE yet Gase for some reason figured it was best to use him a blocking TE. Robby Anderson was looked at as being nothing more then just a solid 2nd or 3rd WR. Yet now on the Panthers he's looked at as a legit #1 WR almost already has 700yds halfway through the season.
@Soda King Honestly that's the thing with a lot of QB's everyone thinks they are shit when really they are just playing on a terrible team. Like look at Fitzpatrick dude has never been to the playoffs not saying he's an amazing QB but if you put a good team around him he's good enough to make the playoffs. Which is why I could never understand other Dolphins fans saying Tannehill was the problem with the team. Now I was fine with letting Tannehill go as we needed to hit the restart button and I think Tua has more upside potential then Tannehill. As Tannehill is maxing out his potential right now which is a step or two below being elite. As an elite QB can drag a bad team to the playoffs. Like Russel Wilson he has the worst defense in the league behind him yet his team is leading the division. If Tannehill was on the Seahawks with that defense they would probably be 3-6 or 4-5. Also can't understand why the Jags are looking to draft a QB. Minshew in his career has 34td to 11INT. Say they draft a QB and he puts up those same numbers everyone is gonna be saying how they have a franchise QB. Yet with Minshew the Jags don't want him as their QB the franchise is blaming him for their shit record.
God, John Idzik and Mike Macagnan were awful at drafting in the second round. That’s part of the reason why I didn’t mind the Jets giving up 3 second round picks to move up and draft Darnold.

At the same time he had to learn a new system his second year, and that system is Adam Gase's. As of now I'd place him more in the back half, like 8-10 or even Dishonorable Mention rather than higher up on the list. Clearly he isn't performing as needed but he's also been thrown into a system giving him no help. He has no protection, they can't build a run game to help him, he has 1 legitimate receiver, and his coach's schemes suck. Darnold is someone who is easy to criticize by imo it's tough to properly judge him.
