New here…I’ve never done a backing before. I don’t have any idea how this differs from other methods. I tend to be dyslexic do things backwards and mess it up. I have a long 3.5 yd or so long piece of flannel. Am I folding selvage to selvage, stitching those sides together? Should I prewash/shrink my huge piece of flannel before or after you put it together. Any additional advice appreciated!
@@HeidiKaisand I was told to prewash/preshrunk flannel when it’s a backing for cotton as they shrink differently so I’ve since done it but 4 months later I’m still frozen in fear of actually piecing the backing!

Yes, sew your selvage edges together.
And, I do not prewash fabrics!
