Technology is nice, but I always bring a paper map and compass. Phones break, battery goes flat, etc. Being aware of your route and area is crucial. A little preparation can help, but of course YMMV. When people are too reliant on technology, you're waiting for an accident to happen.

One of the issues I've had with AllTrails is that there's no way to discern the experience and level of the hiker leaving the review. A new, or inexperienced, hiker is often going to rate a trail differently than someone who is experienced.
Plus they put it on sale a few times a year. Definitely worth it at the sale price if you're not out there too often.
Also phones are waterproof now, so no worries about them getting wet.
Could you do a comparison video with some other similar apps?
I plan on it! I'm currently taking a look at a few more

The one thing that drives me nuts about the user reviews is when people give a trail less than 5 stars and don't say why!!! But that's not AllTrails' fault. I do like the other features and love the 3D view of the trail the best!
Would be nice if it forced a written review with a stared review huh.
@@Befread well, no, peeps shouldn't be forced, but hikers could be a little considerate and let future potential users of the trail know what was bad about it.
Maybe anything less than five stars asks for a quick "how could it be improved" bit?

We always get three or four of them immediately after releasing a video. I try to get rid of them ASAP. Yt can be gross
Is this channel really going to keep posting videos and not have a proper introduction to who this host is and what happened to the other one? If not to answer those questions…just to acknowledge a seemingly major shift in the channel. It’s bizarre to not have addressed this by now.
They posted an announcement weeks ago letting people know that Mike was the new host. Check community tab.
He also made a reply on a previous video saying he doesn’t want to speak for Stella as she can speak on her own channel. He also mentioned not wanting to throw another introduction at the channel so soon and decided to just crank out content for the time being.
