@JeanetteJBeauty. OMYGOD Jeanette thank you SO much for this video!! I got a haircut back in 2016 that left me crying, angry, with short and long pieces and stringy pieces because the idiot used shearing scissors without me knowing!! Thank God for coconut oil because it took a whole year for my hair to grow back to almost all even but damaged ends so I trimmed it myself and it came out alright first try!! But I vowed to trim my own hair since then and I still wasn't doing a good job but this is the BEST hair trimming video I've EVER seen, SO straight-forward and concise and I LOVED your results!! I cannot wait to try this in my next trimming session!! Btw I only went to that particular hairstylist because my best friend, which ironically her name is Jeanette😁, ALWAYS cut my curls perfectly but she moved far away so me finding your video definitely happened for a reason!!💖😊🙏

if you do flat iron your hair, I recommend using the garnier sleek and shine serum to tame frizz. I usually use this after I blowdry so it gets sealed in w the flatiron ( a little goes a long way) and I use my flat iron on like 380 degrees in super small sections. ONE PASS (with 2-3 passes at the root) gets my hair straight and I just bump my ends when im done.

It does look swell, but I swear I need even a pinch of your patience. If I had to do all that to trim mine I'd be so bald, because I'd lose my mind and shave it all off first. Could also be because I practice continuous trimming. So I'd never put the shears down going this route.
Shelly Reynolds oh wow. Well having four children I need patience 😄 I will cut a really bad end if I see it without doing a full trim but it’s not too often. Whatever works for you, keep doing that 🙌🏽☺️
@@jeanettejbeauty6374 Definitely I forget that you do have lil ones to keep you on your toes. Must look up on hair days like where in the world did the time go? Continuous trimming is more like the ancient art of hair burning. You know I'm a lazy natural. I'm not about to hunt out ends in need of a trim. Still a main benefit of continuous trimming is there are no ends split. You'll dust even healthy ends, so your hair only grows in healthy. It'll also become extremely thick and you'll gain length really quick. Its a known hair hack around the globe, but not so much here in the states.

@@jeanettejbeauty6374 Hair burning should be done by a Pro, or someone skilled in the Art. My Aunt use to burn mine when I was little. Continuous trimming is just trimming your hair usually once or twice a month. Most of the time after you've shampoo'd before you style. It has the same benefits as burning, but a safe alternative for those that might set themselves aflame not knowing what they're doing.

Thank you for this! Many ppl emphasize the importance of trimming, but not everyone gives a detailed description how. I have been trimming my own hair for the past year & a half but never felt confident in what I was doing. Plus, I never focused on shape because I didn't know how. I feel more confident and knowledgeable after watching your method. My hair is not as long as yours, but it is shoulder length so I don't know if I'll be able to pull it to eye level, but I'm gonna try. I do feel those rough ends as you described, but recently I've been trimming by searching for knots and cutting which seems to be a never ending way. Although detangling has become much easier, I now know those rough ends have to go, and I can accomplish it without getting too scissor happy. One request, will you link or post the blending chart you use please?

Oh I made this comment on your wash and go method with the clear gel I've been natural for 6 years my last relaxer was March 2011 and it took a little over 2 years to grow out bc I didn't do a big chop my mom is stylist so she keeps it up for me... your method worked better than a wash and go I tried at the beginning of the year from someone who had hair like mine (very loose in the front and tighter in the back) it's like 4 heads on my head! I actually had ringlets after this! Wow. Well the front waved, but it's normally str8 almost. I'll keep trying (well my mama). I keep it straight bc the different textures are aggravating. I'm going to continue to give this method a shot to get better and better. Your hair is SO pretty. My hair color is similar to yours as well so the fact that your hair is so moisturized amazed me. Mine feels soft as moisturized as well! I feel our color alone looks more dry than black hair. Mine is little more ash brown than yours and my edges are blonde so you can't see my baby hairs lol
DST28 oh wow. Well I would suggest staying away from heat and deep condition weekly to get the hair in the front to curl a little more ☺️
DST28 Did you find someone on RUclips with hair type similar to yours? Mine is looser in the front and more tight in the back. So I’d say I have 2C-3B type waves/curls on my head but I can’t find anyone who’s similar 😣
@@jeanettejbeauty6374 Will do! I'm going to try really really hard. I put it up in a puff this time bc I had just cut it to the bottom of my neck so it's shorter than my liking curly. The puff got tons of compliments and I did a happy dance so that means I liked it. I was thinking I need to use a satin ribbon to put the puff up bc I don't want it to break using an elastic.

Yeah you need to tell us about that kind of trimmer. I started trimming my hair Wednesday and finished up on Saturday. I don't eat style it and the ends were so curly it was just difficult for me to see what I was doing.
Yayyyyy.... finally! I trimmed my own hair in oct. Getting knotless braids this coming weekend. And in jan, i know I'll need another trim. I will try your method.I live in nyc, and it seems that good natural salons are scarce.

That's also my situation here in Hawaii- scarcity of natural salons. Plus we only have 2 beauty supply stores that carry more ethnic products. We do have Walgreens, CVS, Target, Ulta, & Sally's, but they get fewer brands compared to other states.
