    I deactivated my ig on 12 may 2022 after watching your video. Was strong enough to not even think abt reactivating it. But on 7 June I just decided to come back “and see what’s happening in the world’’ nothing new same old stuff. People posting pictures, stories for likes comments and validation there’s nothing new to them. And I am not even using it. I don’t text ppl there I just watch cat memes and that’s it. I have other modes of communication with my genuine friends. And that’s all i want. I’m thinking of deleting it forever now :)

      it’s not really worth it tbh , me too i deactivated Facebook since 2016 and now i only have messenger to stay in touch with my friends and for study reasons , i deactivated instagram since 2019 , and like you did i sometimes comeback and tell myself ‘ i left this app for a reason why did i comeback ? ‘ , social media is full of fake images about people’s lifes .. everyone wants to prove that his life is the best and they rarely take photos for souvenirs but to impress other people because they’re insecure in their own skin .. , no social media at all is not good because we aren’t cave men lol , but one app like viber or messenger or twitter where u use it for keeping in touch with what’s happening in this world is alright , did you delete ig for good ?

    I went two months without and it was genuinely one of my happier times, i felt really at peace. i had time to be at work and do things with full attention, and when i was at home i had time to make art or watch a movie. my connections did get closer but you do need a good group of friends that are willing to stick around. but at some point i also felt lonely when i did come back realising i had missed out on some things my friends share. especially because i live alone this was a major factor to come back, it's been hard at times but i don't know if keeping yourself of the gram is also the solution. i feel it's balance. getting yourself to a point where you odn't have a need to check your phone all the time.

    I have definitely noticed similar benefits to taking time offline, although social media is also how I make money- being a photographer and content creator its unfortunately essential that being said it also provides me with such an immense amount of freedom, not working a 9-5, freedom to travel, express myself, build a community- I've met such amazing friends through it. I think, for me at least, its about curating how I'm using it, selectively following people, time limits- only using it a few days a week etc. If permanently deleting it works for some that's brilliant but there are absolutely ways to find the same benefits whilst still being on it :)

    Saying “the whole world cries wolf when tiktokers diagnose themselves with the current trend” seems quite dramatic. There are a select few who probably want attention and will go about this by posting tiktoks about mental health, but I think it’s important to remember that social media has allowed people to form communities, without that many people would feel alone with their mental health struggles. Social media has helped and is still helping to break down stigmas surrounding mental health.
    I like the video, I just felt that you seemed quite bias when making comments about ADHD and social media.

    • @LucyAlllan
      @LucyAlllan  2 года назад +1

      I completely agree that social media has helped break down stigmas on mental health and I loveeee that part❤️
      However it has also created A LOT of false information on it which makes young vulnerable people believe they have different disorders due to the misinformation and can actually end up misdiagnosing people. I think this is a very dangerous part because there is a difference between breaking stigmas and hurting those by putting them into the wrong boxes.

    Honest question: is RUclips not considered a social media site? For example, wouldn't posting this video be considered using social media? Not judging, just confused because I would love to spend more time offline. Had thought that I was in the past but then I realized that RUclips likely counts as social media. I went pretty much up until 18 with no social media but then remembered that I had a RUclips before I ever created a Facebook or Twitter or Instagram. Great video! So relaxing.

    • @jameseldridge3445
      @jameseldridge3445 2 года назад +1

      RUclips is social media. So it is fairly hypocritical of her to mislead her thousands of followers that she’s taking a break while she’s simultaneously using this medium. It counts as the same thing, and has the same effects on the brain. Quit everything all together. Not just ig and fb.

    • @maddssmithy
      @maddssmithy 2 года назад +1

      @@jameseldridge3445 I agree that it counts as social media. However, I think even if one quits one or two social media sites, especially if it is the social media sites that they are on the most, then that is pretty helpful and productive. But yeah, it's interesting how many people don't count RUclips as social media.

Your video is so simple and yet so effective. Just bravo. I never had tiktok but today I just wanted so too what it was. I left after 10 minutes because omg it was ... Full of terrible videos and even the good content were lost in an ocean of wastes... I just have youtube and Instagram for professional reasons so I am not having any problem with that. God Bless you Lucy, thats so awesome! Yes many times we are so focused on how we see ourselves everyday that we forget to take the time and appreciate God for everything that He has done and are doing for us. Yes it is important to take care of our bodies as they are the temple of the Lord, however, we shouldn't stress over losing weight or feeling uncomfortable in the skin that God put us in. Stay encouraged, each and everyone of you are beautiful, talented and unique individuals that God has made so don't spend your life diminishing or regreting the life that God has given you. Live a God given happy, peaceful, healthy mentally, spiritually, and physically joy filled life. God bless yall and don't give up on God's calling for your lives😊🙏💜💙 Many Blessings, grace and peace in Jesus name Amen

    Genuine question, is moderation a good alternative? I use instagram as a way to stay up to date with people in my larger social network and try to limit my use using app timers so I'm aware of how often I use it and more intentional with my time. I also don't find it controls my attention when I'm around other people, only when I'm alone.

Im thinking about completely giving up my online presence, because nobody is going to miss me. The internet will continue to be the same, even when Im gone.
