According to Russia, it intercepted another 25 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions close to the border and the Crimean peninsula on Tuesday night. Above Crimea and the Black Sea alone, the air defense intercepted and destroyed “21 unmanned flying objects”, the Russian defense minister explained on Tuesday in the online service Telegram. A further two drones were intercepted over the Bryansk and Belgorod regions.
On Monday, Russia reported the downing of 85 Ukrainian drones, 47 of which were over the Rostov region. In the Krasnodar region, according to regional authorities, an oil refinery in the city of Tuapse was set on fire by falling drone fragments and one person was killed there.
The Ukrainian army has stepped up its attacks on Russian territory since the beginning of the year. It has targeted towns near the border and, in particular, energy infrastructure facilities which, according to Kiev, serve to supply the Russian military.
Since the beginning of the conflict, both Moscow and Kiev have been using drones in large numbers, including self-exploding flying objects with a range of hundreds of kilometers.
