100% agree, all endings are effectively the same? I enjoyed myself but it feels like a linear story on rails after seeing this post 114 hour game completion. Not what I expect from Fallout. New Vegas really made feel like I had an impact to the Wasteland and my choices and quests mattered. This doesn't recognise any side, main quest decisions or events. Not even my effort in settlements and rebuilding the Minutemen were acknowledged. It isn't the same without the ending slideshow

Helps Bethesda create games in the future where they don't have leave everything vague. What New Vegas did was easy to do as it was a one off game where the past mattered to be lore friendly than the future, its one of the reason why making another new vegas game has been hard for Obsidian, too many loose ends to worry about

NEW ENDING DISCOVERED! Just do not fucking JOIN anyone! Everyone is neutral and no one dies, you can visit your son anytime, fight with brotherhood or fuck with everyone you want... You just don't "finish" the game... but it is worth it.

+bakuya99 The institute one does. As director you can end the immoral practices of the institute, and you cen eventually allow more people from the wasteland into the institute.
+Andy B You do remember the protest set up by the Bio-scientists, right? The Institute has always been underground. To do what you are suggesting would be to fundamentally change the Institute, and I doubt the scientists would do that anytime soon.
JuggernautProducts I resolved that protest peacefully, and I temporarily confined them to their quarters. Everyone praised me on how well I handled it, so I'm assuming they support my ideology somewhat. Also there's another side mission I wont spoil which confirms the institute is ready to change.

when I first saw him and found out the only to get his coat was to kill him, I reloaded my game, bought a nuke, and in the middle of his speech, activated VATS as a result he went "there is a *CANCER*" then I launched the nuke and killed them all
*2 Endings. So in 7 years of Development they couldn't at least give each faction an Unique ending sequence? 3 of them share the EXACT same cutscene.... New Vegas had an 18 month dev time and it had 6 main endings with hundreds of ending permutations.... This is just lazy.
MrKrejzol HD The only game the bethesda studio was working on was Fallout 4, those other games are merely being PUBLISHED by them, not developed. Alsothe engine is the same one as Skyrim and by all reports is very poorly optimized on every platform, so they didn't put the apprpìate time working on it either. There is also the fact that this game completely lacks a Pacifist option. Which is something all other Fallout games always had. It was a staple, just like the Multiple settlement endings.

They want you to decide between the 4 extremely varying views of the factions, they dont want there to be a right or wrong . They want you to play the game and choose the ending that best suits your own philosophical beliefs on topics such as artificial life, freedom, slavery, and so on. Spoilers. Do you choose the Institute, who stole human test subjects and murdered them and now created an synthetic dangerous human like robot to use as test subjects, slaves, soldiers, all in the name of science. All of which your son help built. Do you choose the Brotherhood, who believe in slaughtering all creatures other than wastelanders. And go to every bound to take away potentialy dangerous technology from humanity so it doesn't repeat its mistakes in the prologue. Even though this way seems cruel at times. Do you choose the railroad who see synths as slaves and thus to free them you must destroy there creator. And free them regardless of there dangerous faulty nature. Or do you choose the minutemen and stop the institute without an overarching agenda like in the other factions? No choice is better than the other, each can be debated on which is right. On another note though its the skyrim engine ( a heavily modified skyrim engine.) its defiantly closer to a AAA 2015 title than skyrim, the comparison is only matched in loading screens, siting animations, and the voice actor of a side character / companion being similar to that guy who sells you the daedra hearts in the winterhold college. In terms of performance, this game is playable on pc with a 1gb graphics card. Thats ridiculous. Its not the most heavily optimized game, but considering that you can play on a card that is 7 years out dated is dam impressive. So overall your critics are wrong you probably dont even own the game. its a 9/10 on a bad day. There are some things lacking but the overall improvement to game play makes it worth it easily, i was never disappointed once. Its everything you could want in a fallout game. If you actually play fallout that is.

Minutemen are pretty much the beginning of the NCR. They are neutral towards both the Brotherhood and Railroads Hopefully they don't end up like the NCR though. The NCR-Brotherhood war (which is still ongoing with the NCR winning) in the West is bad enough.

I agree exploration is the the meat of the game but it still needs a good story that's just the basics for a video game. The story was strong its just the endings that were pretty shit. Plus I swear there isn't many side quests. I was looking at the list and I've done most of them without even trying really

I know this is way too late but to do quests without any factor hating you: - do the insider from railroad by having them make the teleporter, once you are in institute speak with insider and do some quests, inform railroad that you have spoken with insider and then you can do institute quests without railroad hating you, also kill the courser in bunker hill but don't kill any other friendlies (all should be green health). - You have to find dense in police station and do the quests so he takes you to the airport for maxson, keep doing quests till mass fusion but don't inform anyone. If you do these then you are good with everyone, if you continue then you will lose a factor or two.
I did that right now and am friend of all along with preston in the castle, that's the stop point before getting any ending like picking which ending you want?
Ok so for those who havent watched : the endings are all exactly the same and the game doesnt offer any consequences for any of your actions or choices nor do you get to choose the ending, you just choose the factions you end up with. Really dissapointing game

+BlackCatTV you can join brotherhood then join institution and then when you fight the brotherhood you can kill the leader for really good power armor and you become leader of the institution and no synths are harmful.

Also there are certain game breaking bugs that I know the only way to work around is to make manual saves. Besides that I had to start a fresh game and I've got most of the legendary weapons I used in my last playthrough but I'm having trouble finding a specific sword that has literally no information on how to get on the Internet.

+bakuya99 Excepting when you side with the Institute of course. Btw, most of the factions ask to destroy an other faction as well, Railroad and BoS can't tolerate each others. I was willing to save childs and civilians at the Institute and transfer scientists to the BoS rather than just nuke the hell out.
One thing that really bugged me in the game is that your character just leaves your wife/husband down in the Vault, doesn't bury them or at least take them out of the Cryo Pod... Nah just leave them there.
After doing the Minutemen ending, I simply couldn't go on without doing an Institute Ending. It killed me when I realised how much Shaun cared, and felt so bad when he died. IT DIDN'T HELP IN THE INSTITUTE ENDING. IT MADE IT WORSE.

Aaro Hirvensalo the institute did not want to kill humanity they wants to help the above ground with its technology not replace them, they might be a robots for couple of month but once this is succesful human robots production will be replace by normal human as before. And at least you spend time with your family for the last.

After all the arguing I see here, I think it truly boils down to one thing we can all agree upon: Bethesda just shouldn't have put in an "ending". With 4 factions, someone was getting screwed by the player. It's hard to give an open-world game a long-term driving force once you've told the player 'The End?' A faction or two was wiped off the map and afterwards you get to finish sidequests. That's not a continuation of the story, but prolonging game time. Bethesda could have had faction skirmishes, where the Survivor would turn the tide between factions and you'd get to see fewer of the defeated factions members for a time: Hate the BoS? Help the Institute or RR when the radio you to fight for them. Less BoS presence. It feels like Bethesda got used to the base FO model of a defined end to the game and then just forgot to put in an off switch. Instead we get to keep playing with our toys and gaining XP. I know I want to get all the perks and guns I can, but playing after an 'The End' scene kinda kills it. I like to level, but I want to work towards something while doing it. Although proof that it wasn't quite ready is there: releasing before the promised modding for next gen is even ready? Ouch.

ya boi ??? i agree to some extent, but shaun is very obviously brain-washed (not literally, but more of the ISIS way, telling him whats wrong and whats right until he believes and lives by that). the institute kill innocent (like the parent), have run away scientists and synths, they're known to kidnap people (shaun), and they are trying to replace humans with killing machines. i mean, something's gotta be wrong with them. i personally went with the minutemen ending, all other factions seem "extremist" to me.
I personally think that everything leading up to the ending mission in the story was great. Choosing a faction to side with in the end was a difficult choice but the result of who you sided with sucked no matter who you chose
The whole idea of the game is to decide the faith of the commonwealth by choosing which faction you help. If all would survive, you wouldn't have to choose anything
I chose the railroad. Minuteman are on my side anyway and the brotherhood are dicks to synths without end. I wish I could have persuaded them but they like war too much.
I sided with the Institute because if anybody can get rid of the world's radiation, turn ghouls to look like humans once again, revive dead species, and pretty much bring back the old world to how it used to be, is them. They are like magicians.
They are like magicians yet they reside underground,the problem is they don't really have any presence on the surface, even if they do it is still very secretive. In which I had to choose the BoS because railroad is like a downgrade to the institute and the Minutemen is like watching paint dry. I think all the endings I've chosen I haven't been satisfied with, all these endings imo are poor.
Synth patrols start appearing around the commonwealth, synths freely walk around settlements and towns, synths act as the law enforcement in the commonwealth. That's all that happens afterwards.. Oh and you become the leader of the institute, with next to no additional abilities

The Institute ending could probably be the more properly "best" one if not for the in-game limitations. Either way, the Institute definitely has the means to help humanity better than all the other discorded factions so I'll always side with them.
Lmao there are just so many flaws with this games ending. 1) just by having the main character change sides means that the entire battle is shifted so their side wins because one person?? 2) I really don't understand why violence had to be the only resort? Couldn't the sides have come to a conclusion, like a mid ground between these human-like syths 3) the institute is so technologically advanced and has so many educated people but they are so naive to see they are creating human-like killing machines with free will and fail to follow the law of robotics leading to possible distinction of man kind. Meaning the institutes hopes for the future are really not true. 3) the railroad are so caught up in believing that the syths need to have their own human life? Like that's the least of the worries and its especially no reason to kill humans for?? 4) the minute men are good but they have no correlation in the impact of this war. However the brotherhood seem to have the best ideologies but they are so violent they don't think of what importance life is. They are too stuck up in battling the institute that they forget the whole point of fighting them. In other words, too violent. 5) I don't like any of the options really but I would have to say that if the goal is to save the future of man kind and to create a lasting world then the brotherhood
There is no possible truce between Brotherhood and Institute, because Brotherhood confiscates and research technology in order to preserve it. This philosophy will lead them to confiscate Institute technology because is the most advanced in the Commonwealth, also they show a lot of disgust to see robots (they treat synths like robots) trying to be human. Brotherhood cant accept synths existence. Elder Maxson expelled Paladin Danse from brotherhood even if he is a loyal soldier, because he is a synth. A possible truce between Institute and Railroad is only possible if institute accepts to release synths that want to be independent, a thing that institute will never allow because they treat synths like a posession like cars for example. Institute NEVER allow synts to have free mind, and railroad helps that synths. And at least Brotherhood cannot tolerate Railroad activities because they help synths and Brotherhood think synths is an aberration like supermutants, feral ghouls and etc. and must be exterminated. So, we can conlude that, because of the nature of those organizations and their purposes, no truce possible and war is the way ensure their existence.
Yeah I didn't like new Vegas. I think fallout 4 is better. The whole cowboy thing just came across as corny to me and there was really no reward to exploring on your own. Except for junk to sell. I didn't love fallout 2 all that much either and they are similar. Im not saying they are bad games at all. I know a ton of people loved and cherished them. If that's you then cool. I think we all just have different preferences about the fallout games because we have been given completely different varieties now. I really enjoyed fallout 1, 3, and 4. @@mrovo2768 New Vegas was great in some ways, but it was the most rough, unpolished thing I've ever played. I still remember beating Benny to death with my fists because they didn't bother to change his hit points from boss level once he was captured. I remember scraping through the last few kills in the Brotherhood of steal bunker so many times because they didn't give you any opportunity to replenish your stimpaks. I remember being able to kill the Great Khans almost one by one because the whole faction would never turn on you. etc.
I had Paladin Dense as a companion while doing the mission with the Minuteman and even though Paladin Dense was there when I pushed the button he still does say "Next time you run an op, how about you invite your brothers and sisters to the party?". Like "You were on the party!"

is there an ending where they all come together? the BOS can be the military, the institute can deal with R & D and resources, the railroad can be supplyline security and minutemen can be settlement security. and there would be no ka-booom.
The minutemen, railroad and BoS can come together but the institute only cares about themselves, they constantly kill and/or abduct people from the surface, so no one would support them.
@@foodie8790 theres no telling what the SS would do, if he takes over sure they *could* be made good, but they *could* just as likely be made even worse. It's the same thing with the minutemen. The SS becomes the general but it's not like he can make them evil. Just going off the canon we know the Institute is evil. They created synths and replaced innocent people with them. They murdered and abducted civilians and turned hundreds if not thousands of people into super mutants. They are responsible for turmoil and massacres across the commonwealth. They're just blatant bad guys, and it wouldn't make sense for the SS to just scrap all that and suddenly make them good.
So no, they wouldn't side with anyone and no one would side with them (though technically the minutemen dont remain hostile with them or anything, but they still complain)
I don't get why people think the ending is bad. To me, the ambiguity of the moral conflict presented to the player makes this ending one of the best I've ever played. In most games, you finish the story, you get to kill the bad guy, everyone's happy and then that's it. That's what I was expecting when I first got into the institute. But then, as you get in, you realize that even though some people have radically different points of view on what is the best course for humanity, no one is inherently evil. In fact, being able to choose which one is "right" makes you just as bad as everyone else. But the thing is, you need to make a choice, and since things aren't black and white anymore, the choice becomes an incredibly hard one. Especially when you need to kill some of your former friends (and your son) just to restore a semblance of order and peace into the commonwealth. And then, when everything is done, everyone sees you as a hero. Everyone, except you. Yes, you achieved victory, but at what cost? Innocent lives destroyed. Countless opportunities lost. A part of your future gone. All of this, just because someone desperately needed to win a war. Those endings give you the opportunity to pause and really think about what defines human nature, justice, and the importance of life. That's why I think they are very good.
You described that perfectly. Thats exactly how I felt at the end (I sided with minutemen) and came here to see different endings. I quickly found out there is no good guy ending here. Interesting stuff to think about
The game didn't hit me like Fallout 3 did. The story had so much potential to be better. It sounded so good from the beginning when your son is taken away and you wake up 200 yrs later. But it just didn't have this 'heart' compared to Fallout 3. In Fallout 3's ending I felt sad, especially after the end shot of you and your father in a framed photo. This one just didn't feel like I was truly emotionally invested... It had potential though... I just don't think they executed it the right way. Fallout 3 in my opinion was the best Fallout, in terms of storytelling...
agreed a 100%, it had more content like going into the sleeping peoples dreams, same like in fo4 about the memories, but there was just more impact in fo3 and an actual story, whereas in fo4 there literally is no adamant story, all the cards had been reveled early
You are just wrong, saying that fallout 3 is best in storytelling. You are just a person that never played original games. For example, in fallout 1 while talking to Master you actually felt sad, you cared about peapole in settlements, you cared about your quest. But, that's because the old games just had great writing.

This character has been through a lot, the Sole Survivor, especially the male is a well rounded character, when the Shaun kid told the Sole Survivor that he was his father I shed a tear.
Killa Z from the looks of it (played 10 hours mostly building and repeat quests) the number of actual quests was cut down based on how much of the map ive explored and the number of unique npc's. the map looks terribly small.

I chose the railroad ending, blowing up the prydwen, and then blowing up the institute and saving the synths. It was a great ending, pretty satisfying.
This game is so touching, i played 100 h and at some i started avoid completing the game main quest series for BoS, because it is so sad and well made that i didn't want to that dream end. When i destroyed institute I was totally down, ending scene was so dark and full of feelings i couldn't do anything for next 15 minutes than thinking story line, going back to sanctuary hills to their old house and remembering how it looked like prewar, music is so good listening those when not in game. Female voice actor is better than male voice actor there is not another option for it, what i have watched and hear those voices. Game with own weird bugs, game play elements and feeling with story deserves 10/10

I picked the institute ending...Cuz i feel their ideology are right. They are doing research and rebuilding the humanity again. In order to rebuild people need to learn, education is the most important step in rebuilding. BOS isn't helping the society with their ways of operation.... Plus i already joined up with BOS back in Fallout 3 :D

You become the leader of the institute. You can halt the synth kidnappings and use coursers to wipe out the raiders, gunners and super mutants. This is what I believe would happen in the future if an institute ending was chosen. Danse can't say shit cause he a synth so he should stfu.
I chose the minutemen the institute might try to better the future but without the people to help make that future there is no future and FOR THE COMMONWEALTH
To me the BoS is racist, but honestly I only think they say those things. They actively kill non feral ghouls, and will make exceptions for friendly synths and supermutants (Strong and nick) so that in mind the only thing conflicting for me was Shaun.

100% agree, all endings are effectively the same? I enjoyed myself but it feels like a linear story on rails after seeing this post 114 hour game completion. Not what I expect from Fallout. New Vegas really made feel like I had an impact to the Wasteland and my choices and quests mattered. This doesn't recognise any side, main quest decisions or events. Not even my effort in settlements and rebuilding the Minutemen were acknowledged. It isn't the same without the ending slideshow

Helps Bethesda create games in the future where they don't have leave everything vague. What New Vegas did was easy to do as it was a one off game where the past mattered to be lore friendly than the future, its one of the reason why making another new vegas game has been hard for Obsidian, too many loose ends to worry about

JuggernautProducts I resolved that protest peacefully, and I temporarily confined them to their quarters. Everyone praised me on how well I handled it, so I'm assuming they support my ideology somewhat. Also there's another side mission I wont spoil which confirms the institute is ready to change.

So in 7 years of Development they couldn't at least give each faction an Unique ending sequence? 3 of them share the EXACT same cutscene.... New Vegas had an 18 month dev time and it had 6 main endings with hundreds of ending permutations.... This is just lazy.

The only game the bethesda studio was working on was Fallout 4, those other games are merely being PUBLISHED by them, not developed. Alsothe engine is the same one as Skyrim and by all reports is very poorly optimized on every platform, so they didn't put the apprpìate time working on it either.
There is also the fact that this game completely lacks a Pacifist option. Which is something all other Fallout games always had. It was a staple, just like the Multiple settlement endings.

They want you to decide between the 4 extremely varying views of the factions, they dont want there to be a right or wrong . They want you to play the game and choose the ending that best suits your own philosophical beliefs on topics such as artificial life, freedom, slavery, and so on.
Spoilers.
Do you choose the Institute, who stole human test subjects and murdered them and now created an synthetic dangerous human like robot to use as test subjects, slaves, soldiers, all in the name of science. All of which your son help built.
Do you choose the Brotherhood, who believe in slaughtering all creatures other than wastelanders. And go to every bound to take away potentialy dangerous technology from humanity so it doesn't repeat its mistakes in the prologue. Even though this way seems cruel at times.
Do you choose the railroad who see synths as slaves and thus to free them you must destroy there creator. And free them regardless of there dangerous faulty nature.
Or do you choose the minutemen and stop the institute without an overarching agenda like in the other factions?
No choice is better than the other, each can be debated on which is right.
On another note though its the skyrim engine ( a heavily modified skyrim engine.) its defiantly closer to a AAA 2015 title than skyrim, the comparison is only matched in loading screens, siting animations, and the voice actor of a side character / companion being similar to that guy who sells you the daedra hearts in the winterhold college.
In terms of performance, this game is playable on pc with a 1gb graphics card. Thats ridiculous. Its not the most heavily optimized game, but considering that you can play on a card that is 7 years out dated is dam impressive.
So overall your critics are wrong you probably dont even own the game. its a 9/10 on a bad day. There are some things lacking but the overall improvement to game play makes it worth it easily, i was never disappointed once.
Its everything you could want in a fallout game. If you actually play fallout that is.
Just for the guys who says: hey you're bad at this game:
1- I have the game 2 days early before release.
2- No guides, no shit is out there am all alone.
3- I am on a race to beat the game (this happens in all new games I get) I can't stop and think for a minute on how to mod or equip stuff or even do side quests.

I know this is way too late but to do quests without any factor hating you:
- do the insider from railroad by having them make the teleporter, once you are in institute speak with insider and do some quests, inform railroad that you have spoken with insider and then you can do institute quests without railroad hating you, also kill the courser in bunker hill but don't kill any other friendlies (all should be green health).
- You have to find dense in police station and do the quests so he takes you to the airport for maxson, keep doing quests till mass fusion but don't inform anyone.
If you do these then you are good with everyone, if you continue then you will lose a factor or two.

Ok so for those who havent watched : the endings are all exactly the same and the game doesnt offer any consequences for any of your actions or choices nor do you get to choose the ending, you just choose the factions you end up with.

Also there are certain game breaking bugs that I know the only way to work around is to make manual saves. Besides that I had to start a fresh game and I've got most of the legendary weapons I used in my last playthrough but I'm having trouble finding a specific sword that has literally no information on how to get on the Internet.

I was willing to save childs and civilians at the Institute and transfer scientists to the BoS rather than just nuke the hell out.
One thing that really bugged me in the game is that your character just leaves your wife/husband down in the Vault, doesn't bury them or at least take them out of the Cryo Pod... Nah just leave them there.
After doing the Minutemen ending, I simply couldn't go on without doing an Institute Ending. It killed me when I realised how much Shaun cared, and felt so bad when he died.

After all the arguing I see here, I think it truly boils down to one thing we can all agree upon: Bethesda just shouldn't have put in an "ending". With 4 factions, someone was getting screwed by the player. It's hard to give an open-world game a long-term driving force once you've told the player 'The End?' A faction or two was wiped off the map and afterwards you get to finish sidequests. That's not a continuation of the story, but prolonging game time. Bethesda could have had faction skirmishes, where the Survivor would turn the tide between factions and you'd get to see fewer of the defeated factions members for a time: Hate the BoS? Help the Institute or RR when the radio you to fight for them. Less BoS presence. It feels like Bethesda got used to the base FO model of a defined end to the game and then just forgot to put in an off switch. Instead we get to keep playing with our toys and gaining XP. I know I want to get all the perks and guns I can, but playing after an 'The End' scene kinda kills it. I like to level, but I want to work towards something while doing it. Although proof that it wasn't quite ready is there: releasing before the promised modding for next gen is even ready? Ouch.
Fallout 4 has no good Ending in my Opinion...
The good ending was the institute ending. your son dies happy, you crush the railroad and the brotherhood then you can go on with the minute men
You couldnt be more right eventually there will come a day when the institute would have healed this planet and colonize others they have some of the brightest minds behind them why wouldnt they come to the same idea as house from the vegas strip?
ya boi ??? i agree to some extent, but shaun is very obviously brain-washed (not literally, but more of the ISIS way, telling him whats wrong and whats right until he believes and lives by that). the institute kill innocent (like the parent), have run away scientists and synths, they're known to kidnap people (shaun), and they are trying to replace humans with killing machines. i mean, something's gotta be wrong with them. i personally went with the minutemen ending, all other factions seem "extremist" to me.

I personally think that everything leading up to the ending mission in the story was great. Choosing a faction to side with in the end was a difficult choice but the result of who you sided with sucked no matter who you chose

I sided with the Institute because if anybody can get rid of the world's radiation, turn ghouls to look like humans once again, revive dead species, and pretty much bring back the old world to how it used to be, is them. They are like magicians.
They are like magicians yet they reside underground,the problem is they don't really have any presence on the surface, even if they do it is still very secretive. In which I had to choose the BoS because railroad is like a downgrade to the institute and the Minutemen is like watching paint dry. I think all the endings I've chosen I haven't been satisfied with, all these endings imo are poor.
They were planning on destroying the commonwealth because they couldn't fix it.

Synth patrols start appearing around the commonwealth, synths freely walk around settlements and towns, synths act as the law enforcement in the commonwealth. That's all that happens afterwards.. Oh and you become the leader of the institute, with next to no additional abilities

The Institute ending could probably be the more properly "best" one if not for the in-game limitations. Either way, the Institute definitely has the means to help humanity better than all the other discorded factions so I'll always side with them.
Lmao there are just so many flaws with this games ending.
1) just by having the main character change sides means that the entire battle is shifted so their side wins because one person??
2) I really don't understand why violence had to be the only resort? Couldn't the sides have come to a conclusion, like a mid ground between these human-like syths
3) the institute is so technologically advanced and has so many educated people but they are so naive to see they are creating human-like killing machines with free will and fail to follow the law of robotics leading to possible distinction of man kind. Meaning the institutes hopes for the future are really not true.
3) the railroad are so caught up in believing that the syths need to have their own human life? Like that's the least of the worries and its especially no reason to kill humans for??
4) the minute men are good but they have no correlation in the impact of this war. However the brotherhood seem to have the best ideologies but they are so violent they don't think of what importance life is. They are too stuck up in battling the institute that they forget the whole point of fighting them. In other words, too violent.
5) I don't like any of the options really but I would have to say that if the goal is to save the future of man kind and to create a lasting world then the brotherhood

There is no possible truce between Brotherhood and Institute, because Brotherhood confiscates and research technology in order to preserve it. This philosophy will lead them to confiscate Institute technology because is the most advanced in the Commonwealth, also they show a lot of disgust to see robots (they treat synths like robots) trying to be human. Brotherhood cant accept synths existence. Elder Maxson expelled Paladin Danse from brotherhood even if he is a loyal soldier, because he is a synth.
A possible truce between Institute and Railroad is only possible if institute accepts to release synths that want to be independent, a thing that institute will never allow because they treat synths like a posession like cars for example. Institute NEVER allow synts to have free mind, and railroad helps that synths.
And at least Brotherhood cannot tolerate Railroad activities because they help synths and Brotherhood think synths is an aberration like supermutants, feral ghouls and etc. and must be exterminated.
So, we can conlude that, because of the nature of those organizations and their purposes, no truce possible and war is the way ensure their existence.

Yeah I didn't like new Vegas. I think fallout 4 is better. The whole cowboy thing just came across as corny to me and there was really no reward to exploring on your own. Except for junk to sell. I didn't love fallout 2 all that much either and they are similar. Im not saying they are bad games at all. I know a ton of people loved and cherished them. If that's you then cool. I think we all just have different preferences about the fallout games because we have been given completely different varieties now. I really enjoyed fallout 1, 3, and 4. I still remember beating Benny to death with my fists because they didn't bother to change his hit points from boss level once he was captured. I remember scraping through the last few kills in the Brotherhood of steal bunker so many times because they didn't give you any opportunity to replenish your stimpaks. I remember being able to kill the Great Khans almost one by one because the whole faction would never turn on you. etc.
I had Paladin Dense as a companion while doing the mission with the Minuteman and even though Paladin Dense was there when I pushed the button he still does say "Next time you run an op, how about you invite your brothers and sisters to the party?". Like "You were on the party!"

is there an ending where they all come together? the BOS can be the military, the institute can deal with R & D and resources, the railroad can be supplyline security and minutemen can be settlement security. and there would be no ka-booom.
The minutemen, railroad and BoS can come together but the institute only cares about themselves, they constantly kill and/or abduct people from the surface, so no one would support them.

@@foodie8790 theres no telling what the SS would do, if he takes over sure they *could* be made good, but they *could* just as likely be made even worse. It's the same thing with the minutemen. The SS becomes the general but it's not like he can make them evil.
Just going off the canon we know the Institute is evil. They created synths and replaced innocent people with them. They murdered and abducted civilians and turned hundreds if not thousands of people into super mutants. They are responsible for turmoil and massacres across the commonwealth. They're just blatant bad guys, and it wouldn't make sense for the SS to just scrap all that and suddenly make them good.
So no, they wouldn't side with anyone and no one would side with them (though technically the minutemen dont remain hostile with them or anything, but they still complain)

I don't get why people think the ending is bad. To me, the ambiguity of the moral conflict presented to the player makes this ending one of the best I've ever played.
In most games, you finish the story, you get to kill the bad guy, everyone's happy and then that's it. That's what I was expecting when I first got into the institute.
But then, as you get in, you realize that even though some people have radically different points of view on what is the best course for humanity, no one is inherently evil. In fact, being able to choose which one is "right" makes you just as bad as everyone else. But the thing is, you need to make a choice, and since things aren't black and white anymore, the choice becomes an incredibly hard one. Especially when you need to kill some of your former friends (and your son) just to restore a semblance of order and peace into the commonwealth.
And then, when everything is done, everyone sees you as a hero. Everyone, except you. Yes, you achieved victory, but at what cost? Innocent lives destroyed. Countless opportunities lost. A part of your future gone. All of this, just because someone desperately needed to win a war.
Those endings give you the opportunity to pause and really think about what defines human nature, justice, and the importance of life. That's why I think they are very good.
You described that perfectly. Thats exactly how I felt at the end (I sided with minutemen) and came here to see different endings. I quickly found out there is no good guy ending here. Interesting stuff to think about
The game didn't hit me like Fallout 3 did. The story had so much potential to be better. It sounded so good from the beginning when your son is taken away and you wake up 200 yrs later. But it just didn't have this 'heart' compared to Fallout 3. In Fallout 3's ending I felt sad, especially after the end shot of you and your father in a framed photo. This one just didn't feel like I was truly emotionally invested... It had potential though... I just don't think they executed it the right way. Fallout 3 in my opinion was the best Fallout, in terms of storytelling...
agreed a 100%, it had more content like going into the sleeping peoples dreams, same like in fo4 about the memories, but there was just more impact in fo3 and an actual story, whereas in fo4 there literally is no adamant story, all the cards had been reveled early
You are just wrong, saying that fallout 3 is best in storytelling. You are just a person that never played original games. For example, in fallout 1 while talking to Master you actually felt sad, you cared about peapole in settlements, you cared about your quest. But, that's because the old games just had great writing.

So we compare the modern fallouts story and lore rather than with the predeccessors which are a completely different kinds of games
This character has been through a lot, the Sole Survivor, especially the male is a well rounded character, when the Shaun kid told the Sole Survivor that he was his father I shed a tear.
And is it just me or are there like 4 friendly towns and cities? I got this game to explore cool places and meet people.

Killa Z from the looks of it (played 10 hours mostly building and repeat quests) the number of actual quests was cut down based on how much of the map ive explored and the number of unique npc's. the map looks terribly small.

I chose the railroad ending, blowing up the prydwen, and then blowing up the institute and saving the synths. It was a great ending, pretty satisfying.
Am I the only one who run for the reactor and place a bomb and have 1 health left, suceeding the mission?

This game is so touching, i played 100 h and at some i started avoid completing the game main quest series for BoS, because it is so sad and well made that i didn't want to that dream end.
When i destroyed institute I was totally down, ending scene was so dark and full of feelings i couldn't do anything for next 15 minutes than thinking story line, going back to sanctuary hills to their old house and remembering how it looked like prewar, music is so good listening those when not in game.
Female voice actor is better than male voice actor there is not another option for it, what i have watched and hear those voices. Game with own weird bugs, game play elements and feeling with story deserves 10/10

I picked the institute ending...Cuz i feel their ideology are right. They are doing research and rebuilding the humanity again. In order to rebuild people need to learn, education is the most important step in rebuilding. BOS isn't helping the society with their ways of operation.... Plus i already joined up with BOS back in Fallout 3 :D

You become the leader of the institute. You can halt the synth kidnappings and use coursers to wipe out the raiders, gunners and super mutants. This is what I believe would happen in the future if an institute ending was chosen. Danse can't say shit cause he a synth so he should stfu.
I chose the minutemen the institute might try to better the future but without the people to help make that future there is no future and FOR THE COMMONWEALTH

To me the BoS is racist, but honestly I only think they say those things. They actively kill non feral ghouls, and will make exceptions for friendly synths and supermutants (Strong and nick) so that in mind the only thing conflicting for me was Shaun.
I played the game nonstop and never thought I’d finish it so quickly. I then tried playing 76 but it was just not the same. I just wish so much that there’d be another fallout game like that.
