Also, rewatching these I really do love the fact that you can really see the inherent love for ballroom that Mark's parents instilled in Mark and Derek.
Yes!!!! Derek and Mark's choreography is filled with so much more technique!
I had my doubts about the #1 spot at first, but the dance was absolutely flawless. The best dances are usually the ones where you take out all the fluff, tricks, etc and you're left with perfectly executed movements. Well done! I'm totally taking notes for my wedding and might use the #1 spots routine. So beautiful!

Witsay Fan, I enjoyed the Video that you posted on the Viennese Waltz Dances from the past seasons on Dancing with the Stars especially the Dances from season 20, 16, 8, 27, and 31. Also, My favorite Viennese Waltz Dances on Dancing with the Stars were Charli and Mark, Evanna and Keo, Riker and Allison, Shawn and Mark, Rumer and Val, and Shawn and Mark.
Lovely picks! I didn't get to watch any of those seasons but still think number 1 deserved its place :)

I like your taste in dances! A lot of these are on my favs list too! I've never seen someone else highlight Mark & Lindsey's waltz; I agree, it's really good. And it made me cry along with her....And Bindi's Waltz really matched the energy of the song so well & the crescendo really paid off. Mark & Derek really know how to execute an emotional choreography lol.
Of course, Charli & Mark gave us all many new fav dances this year lolll. Not surprised she's here in yours, too. I imagine Len's quite satisfied with being able to retire from the show on this season. You could tell he was just as starving as the rest of us DWTS fans, after the past few seasons, to see a closer race at the finish line. A finale with 4 amazingly talented dancers (who SHOULD be at the top), giving it all, finally happened again.
One Viennese Waltz I've personally always thought was under appreciated was Val & Normani's "film noir" style waltz to Rihanna's 'Desperado'. Admittedly, the camera filter choice adds significantly to the dance, and while I love how Val brings his partners out of their shell, I've never found his choreo to stray too far from his tried-and-true ways of approaching each style. But Normani REALLY sold that dance, and danced it beautifully!! She grew to become amazing at hitting the classic ballroom lines and selling the character; the "tragic film noir femme fatale" vibes were amazing from her in that dance!
Thank you!!! 🥰I LOVE Normani's Viennese Waltz too! It's a really underrated dance. That one was so close to making it into my top ten! Really should done top fifteen or twenty lol!
With Len retiring, it adds a special poignancy to Derek and Nastia's now...
