    Really easy to follow tutorial, thank you. I would love to see how you go back and fix the issue of having a black or white line. Its quite daunting to know where to go back and fix?

    • @MyMcDoodles
      @MyMcDoodles  3 года назад

      I wish I had a nicer answer for this, but if your tile is off by even one pixel it makes that dreaded line in your repeat. 😖 I agree it can be daunting to fix. I always save my original elements and folders so I don’t have to start completely over. But even doing this you still need to go back and test the previous step to see if the line formed there. 😫 You can zoom in all the way and see if your elements are even off by a pixel or two. Check the edges of the canvas! This is why I started doing the save and load selections because I thought it would reduce this room for error. (And to be honest, Photoshop is a little better to create patterns. 😬 The program can automatically shift your elements perfectly so they always repeat seamlessly! 🙌)

    Very easy explained.. thank you. I only wonder if we need all the selections, as we use only 5,2 and 4?

    • @MyMcDoodles
      @MyMcDoodles  3 года назад +2

      You’re right! You don’t need all selections for half drop. You can just make the ones you need. :)

    Love your video! I tried a couple of times but failed.
    I have a question hope you can help me,
    When I press select, it only lets me select the area I draw, not the whole layer? What should I do?

      Hi! I want to help but don’t quite understand the problem. Is there a specific timestamp on this tutorial you can reference? (I made it quite a while ago and my memory is fading! 😬)
      Is it a problem you have when you set up your selections? Or when you’re trying to select your layer to half drop it?

    Hi, Thanks for the pretty pattern making tutorial. I hv a doubt! Will it get Pixelate while you duplicating the merged layers and making as small for the next tile? Or it will be a vector format in any size?

    • @MyMcDoodles
      @MyMcDoodles  Год назад +1

      Procreate does NOT use vector format. Shrinking it doesn’t seem to cause a problem, but you would NOT want to stretch or enlarge the tile. When duplicating, always duplicate from your original layer to avoid loss of quality. I have not had any issues with my patterns not being high enough resolution or anything, but I always work in sizes larger than what I’ll need in the final product. A great program to create patterns on the iPad, which does use VECTOR format is “InDesign.” There are good tutorials for that, also! Hope this helps!

    This worked great for me. My only question is why do we create 6 selections, if we only use 3 of them?

    • @MyMcDoodles
      @MyMcDoodles  Год назад +1

      I’m glad it worked well!!! You’re right! You actually don’t need all of the selections for a half drop. It’s good to know how to make them, though! You can just make the selections you specifically need for your pattern repeats. 😊

    Love the pattern tutorials. I we run into an issue at the 14 min 50 sec. Mark. When I try and use the selection tool I get an error that I nave a groupselected do I want to open layers.

    • @MyMcDoodles
      @MyMcDoodles  3 года назад +1

      It should let you select the entire folder! You should not need to open the folder and select individual layers, so I’m not sure why it’s giving you that message. I’ll test it out when I can get on my iPad and see what I find. 😬

    • @MyMcDoodles
      @MyMcDoodles  3 года назад

      Ok. I tried it on my iPad to make sure and it still lets me tap the entire group, chose the select tool, then use save and load selections on every element in the group without selecting individual layers. So, I’m not sure what’s going on with your file! I will say that Procreate often acts *extremely* quirky for me lately especially if my file size is large. 😬 I hope you get this function to work! 😕 It saves so much time!

      Hi there, I had this problem too but found that under the selection too, next to save and load, the colour fill was highlighted. Once I deselected this, everything seemed ok. Not really sure why but might be worth a look.
